I absolutely love these scooter reviews, ever since you started doing these I look at them in a completely different way now. Another cracking review sir :)
I just bought one of these. I went all around the houses deciding on a "city bike" so I could put less miles on my motorbike and worry less about theft and accidents and such on the more expensive bike. Started off looking at 125's, then thought a scooter, then decided I needed a 3 or 400cc scoot to go on the freeway and did the usual up-selling myself thing before remembering the whole point was to just get a cheap second bike lol. Here this is sold at 155cc (as we don't have any 125cc license laws there's a bigger spread -100cc, 110, 125, 150, 155, 170 all exist in scooters lol) which is nice as it gives it just that little bit more top end (i find most non-sports 125's struggle to get to 60 reliably as shown in the vid. I'm still technically in break in, but have had it up to 110kph and it felt like it could creep a little higher), and it was A$3.5k less than the xmax... which can go to the new motorcycle fund lol. Honestly I'm pretty impressed at it for A$4200 ride away! So far seems like I'm getting somewhere around 2.5L/100km mixed riding on the 155, which is nice, and my insurance on it was about 50% my CB500, or 1/3 a ninja 400... Although one advantage is that it's so cheap I just got third party F&F which is even less. In reality if I dint a panel I can buy a new one very cheaply and if I have a major crash I'll just buy another one rather than go through insurance stress.
Did u ride it on longer trips? can it handle it easy? i would like to trip sometimes with my girl so i would like to know is it able to do something like that.. thankss
OMG THANK YOU!!!!! I never ever knew you would review this scooter!! I'm proud to own one and even more proud now that you've reviewed it lol, love the channel!!! Astro 😊 👍🏻
Had one to commute in Lisbon. What a lovely machine! Throttle in binary mode and the consumptions rarely would pass the 3.1l/100km, but missed the power for warping out. Back to a proper bike, but would say that these small scooters are perfect for commuting inside a city. Even today in the middle of the city traffic where my MT don't fit, I miss this small machine, she would pass in the middle of cars in spaces that I couldn't imagine. Also miss the storage, but the backpack do the trick. Her price and cost utilisation is perfect. Use the subway, or bus? Forget it! Buy a scooter. You gain minimum one hour per day and with a proper waterproof, you arrive dryer than other commuter.
Great video! I live in Texas USA and I got the Yamaha Zuma 125cc last April and absolutely love it! I put over 1500 miles on it and I am getting 87 to 97MPG I am very happy with mine! 🛵👍
I love these scooter reviews ... I would really like one in addition to my large bike... seems like a perfect 'grab and go" vehicle for trips around town.
I have one of these in viper blue and I absolutely love it. I travel around 30 miles to work 5 days a week and over the harsh Lincolnshire Wolds this bike is perfect. Its quick (yes it will do 68/70mph) and is so fuel efficient. Thank you for reviewing the Nmax 😀
I’ve got one of these & I love it I think it’s a awesome little bike easy to ride ,cheap to run £6 to fill up which returns about hundred miles never less. I also ride a 1290 SD R just for comparison.
Looks like a good practical little scooter. Ive got a Vespa 125 primavera 2014 model. Performance sounds quite similar, it even goes well two up. Had a couple of nervous moments when I thought I had the power to overtake though. I’m pretty new to scooters I wish I’d discovered them years ago. Always turned my nose up at them preferring to be in the rocker camp rather than the mod camp! Showing my age now. Great vlog cheers
A friend of mine recently bought an older used NMax and loves it. As you say, for a 125 it's relatively quick, and also v comfortable. He's already been all over on it including riding from Yorkshire to South Wales, and another massive trip from Yorkshire to the Isle of Wight and back over a couple of days!
Thank you TMF, I know this comment comes a bit late since you published the review, I've just bought the little Nmax 125 as an every day runabout and since the dealer didn't have a machine to test ride I pretty much bought it based on your review and now having covered a few hundred miles I must say your review is spot on. I'm very happy. I also own a Yamaha MT10SP which you also reviewed and again I have to say you were spot with that as well. Please keep up the good work, much appreciated.
My Nmax has 5000Miles on the clock and this is my results: I'm 6'2" and 110+ KG My Nmax has extra knuckle wind protectors and 39l top case. My "life" top speed was 75MPH downhill A38 with wind but usually will be 64-66MPH. Oposite way (against the wind) top speed was 68 downhill. Average 60-64MPH 68MPH top speed at flat is possilbe with small light rider (maybe?) Real will be around 62-64MPH (at speedo) At top speed fuel economy is really bad - less than 75MPG.... Fuel consumption: 75MPG - 115MPG depends of usage. Great medium bike for daily usage.
I live in zone 2 in London and I used to wait on the crowded platform waiting for the equally crowded train to get to work in central London. Why are commuters not riding these? Their life would be so much more fun, practical, no waiting around for delayed trains, no sweaty, crowded carriages. All you need is a CBT and you’re away! Unfortunately London is plagued by crime and I think that stops a lot of people from getting one. Also the ingrained danger perception of being on two motorised wheels is hard to break down.
Richard Collins, I was just about to write what you just wrote regarding the thefts of mopeds and motorbikes... I had 2 mopeds stolen and although I love riding so much I won't be getting another one. Too much stress...
Great review TMF. I live in Thailand, and have the same model, same colour even, except over here the NMax is 155cc. I am lucky enough to have several bikes, but this is my go-to form of transport, easy to ride, economical (100mpg) and fast enough even with a pillion. Oh, and very well priced over here, brand new from Yamaha dealer 82,000 Thai baht, approximately 1,950 pounds.
Another great review, here in Indonesia it is a Yamaha Nmax 155 cc, super popular bike, too if the range with ABS front and back is about 2000 GB pounds retail on the road. Thanks TMF for this review I just got off my Nmax and now watching this!
My brother had a lil scooter in the early 90's I'd take it down the country roads in rural Illinois. It was fun, and 35-40 mph was fast enough on those roads. These modern scooters would be just the ticket if I lived in an urban area.
When you think about the countries where scooters are really popular, makes you realise that our weather may have something to do with their lack of popularity here! Thanks for the review TMF, has made me miss zipping around south London on my Vision 110
Great Scoot ticks every box for a town shopper and commuter. My wife has a 2015 AN125 which I use more than her. Instant gratification at traffic lights or any queue; park anywhere right by the door of wherever you are going; Space for stuff; and fill the tank for the price of a few beers - once a month! Not the best wheels for flat out along country lanes though! Always go for the larger wheels, the AN125 is like a shopping trolly and not recommended. And don't ever ride in wind, you will get blown under an Interlinks' wheels. Apart from these things, everyone should have one. oh, and rather cough up for + 10 year quality, rather than have to throw it away within 3 years. Enjoyed the zip thanks4 tmf.
Interesting. I wonder if my 50 yr. old daughter would ride one of these. It would be very easy on her pocketbook. Right now she has commandeered my car! I would like it back.
Almost whole video I was wondering why the wind noise is so strong when you are riding max 68... Then it struck me, as I am not from UK and I am used to kph :) Thanks for the video, great job. Thanks to you, I will soon get one formyself.
I have been riding for over 30 years, various machines and capacities but I do more miles on my Suzuki Burgman 125. I get 99.9 to the gallon and it will run 2 up on motorway at 60-65 no problem. Why would you need anything else? But I would be lying the Yamaha Xmax 300 would be my ideal all year round transport 😀
You say its 175kg wet but that seems very high. The specs say 125kg dry and I cant imagine 50Kg of oil and juice..... are you sure the 175Kg isn't for the Dmax 125 which is much heavier. It would be great if yo would do a back to back test with this scoot and the Yamaha 125 Delight which is more of a traditional scooter riding position but air cooled engine. Great reviews as always, thanks.
Glad you found a scoot with no lag, my vespa never feels like clutch is slipping, and they don,t crash in bumps, compact size but plenty of room, i,m 6ft 4, no prob at all. GTS250 that is.
Nice review as always TMF. I bought an NMAX 125 2 months ago and am very happy with it. I've had a range of bikes (zx6r, T955, R1, TL1000, R1100GS, R1150GSA, R1200GS & GSA, Vespa GTS) and you can't beat scooters for practicality. Although, it's been 4 years since I owned a big bike and the NMAX is making me want a large bike again. I live in Melbourne, Australia and as yet we don't have the bike thieving that seems to plague London. It was difficult to get insurance when I owned a T955 in London back in 2001, so it must be impossible now.
Awesome scooter review. I own the Yamaha SMAX (155cc). I get the same experience where the scooter feels like it is faster than what I 155cc can do. Keep the scooter reviews coming
@@IanDevlinPhoto I still keep it. As a first bike its perfect . Low seat height and abs makes it . If you will buy used one it is beter to change the tires . I bought pirelli angel scooter makes it more comfortable.
Over the last 21,000 kilos / 15,000 miles, my PCX 150 has given me an average KPL / MPG of: 47 / 132. For price per mile around town and shorter out-of-town transport, even (especially) if you service the machine religiously, there is no cheaper way, even if you were to take taxis and own no vehicle - bicycle excluded.
id just like to share this. the price difference is massive in your market compared to here in my country (Philippines). Here we have 155cc engines for the Nmax and that is priced at about 1900 pounds (converted) with ABS, which is a thousand pounds less than the 3 grand price you stated. wild.
Mattyuty we have always been ripped off here in the UK,I don’t know how the companies justify it,perhaps it is because on average people in the UK are on higher wages, and that it costs more to run a dealership in this country,I don’t know but I wish we could get bikes for what you get them for.
Yes it was riding the C Evolution that made me realise I liked riding without gear changes. Settled on the Honda NC750X DCT and I have an average fuel consumption of 84mpg over 1800 miles now. Very relaxing to ride. Also you can check Fuelly.com for real world fuel consumption entered by riders.
On my cbr 125 that I had for a few years, I changed the chain and sprokets and went down a tooth in the rear and it made such a big difference when pulling away and accelerating. Obviously being a 125 it wasn't stupidly fast but it definitely felt like more of a pull then the stock one! Great video again!
Chilly winters day 😜 It,s very hot here, Tomorrow we'll reach 37°. I hope you can ride in cooler conditions. Nice city bike or light commuting. Nice review, as ever. Is it (Norway) as beautiful, compared to Scotland, as I said it would be? If you take the Atlantikvegen, don't forget to take the tunnel to Kristiansund. You'll be 430 ft below sea.
@@TheMissendenFlyer nervous times! its all ice and wind here in lancashire for 4 days im concerned to say the least. Ive never understood why they are not any automatic proper bikes, do you have any idea why not ?
Back 15 years ago when I was 16 every lad had a scooter there were so many in groups in and around the town centre, now it’s a rare sight, my brother who has just turned 16 I asked him if he was going to do his CBT and his answer was two wheels are for idiots. We’ve lost a generation 🙄
Seeing a lot of the 155cc come in the repair shops here al seem to have front shock and steering bearing problems apart from that they seem good little machines
its a nice practical safe and efficient little bike, its my 1 and only bike :P I love riding around on it lol :P, its has small wheels so you will feel the bumps, potholes feel like craters.and it has ABS breaks, they are not sharp like your standard disc breaks, they are designed to stop the wheels from locking up after all :P
It looks nice....only problem now is I see a scooter and my heart sinks!, it won’t last 30seconds parked in a UK town or city nowadays....the next time you see one of those it will have no plate, no ignition and pushing a stolen speed triple :(
Thanks for the review very nice scooter by all accounts, it was on my shortlist recently, however i opted for the Honda sh125. A few extra bells and whistles on the Honda, traction control key less euro 5 compliant. I really enjoy your reviews advice and tips.
NMax 2018 vs PCX 2018? Have someone tested both? Currently the PCX is my favorite. Because: better fuel economy, more space under the seat, FULL LED lights, improved suspension, bigger fuel tank (8 vs. 5,5 l) AND no one beats HONDA reliability. Heard about some rost issues of the NMax and also really bad supsension. But I prefer NMax' look a bit more. So, can someone help here? :)
Yes the PCX is arguably the better scooter, but it is most definitely slower top speed compared to the NMAX. Not much but enough to make you think twice before entering a motorway, especially on a windy day. But the quality of the PCX I think exceeds the NMAX even though the latter is good looking. The PCX just has a more premium feel to it, has a 12v charger as standard, a much better dash, beautiful hand bars and FAR better, more compliant suspension. The Nmax is also way over-priced at the moment.
"Hey kids, shake it on your scooter. The headlight's hitting something that's been known to change the weather. We shall ride, let us take ourselves along...."
Soon you will have an electric scooter in your garage, one that has batteries you can swap out, plenty of carrying capacity for shopping and the power of a Tmax. It's the future but at the moment manufacturers are ignoring it.
They need fast charging on ebikes and escooters . A spare battery is not much use when it is at home sitting in your garage. You can't beat putting a gallon of gas in the tank and going another 80 miles.
Chilly ? ! (O . O) . . . but Mr. Flyer, it's almost August ? ! You went to the North Pole on summer to test ride ? 18:15 that bus scared the ^&%$ out of me and I wasn't riding on the scooter.
Thanks for the great review. It is a good scooter, and it has slightly faster top speed than the Honda PCX. But the 2018 PCX has much better suspension, plus a 12v charger that the Nmax lacks, and the PCX is arguably more accomplished in build quality. The PCX is also quite a lot cheaper especially with dealer offers and nearly new machines, undercutting the NMAX by several hundred pounds. It's a pity both scooters are not in 70 mph motorway territory (their speedos are way out by up to 10%). I'm sure this is to create an artificial price barrier between them and the 125 Forza and Xmax which are hugely more expensive. It wouldn't take much for Honda/Yamaha to add a couple of HP. It could also be linked to fuel economy.
TMF sir, if you can get your hands on Yamaha Aerox, please try it.. It's 155cc (not look like much), but easier to get 100kph or 62mph and better acceleration.. Different ergonomic than Nmax and keyless too.. I'm not affiliated with yamaha or anything, just like the bike..
Alan B'Stard M P yes, it's great city bike or for commuter.. Here, Bike can't use highway or A road like in the UK, so... Many people here use these bike for touring too.. Yes, I'm in Indonesia btw.. Cheers
@@TheMissendenFlyer Im sure I will..I just wanted to ask you, are you actually speaking whilst your riding the scooter? Or have you just done voice ovet after doing the video? Great review, very informative. 155cc version here in Thailand but out sold locally 10 to1 by the 155cc Yamaha Aerox, price more than 10,000 baht cheaper main factor. Handling wise, how do the 14 inch wheels behave. I'm looking at one of these or the 125cc Honda Wave that has 17inch wheels.
Here in Malaysia the Nmax is cheaper than the Nvx aka Aerox by about rm2k.My brother just got 1 Aerox recently.Yes handling is better and as you said if with pillion, the Nmax is better. You can stretch your legs on the Nmax though.
Nmax ftw! Nmax has better balance & stability as well as more comfy riding position which makes it easier & more pleasurable to ride. Aerox may look a bit better but looks are subjective. Personally, I much prefer the Nmax's subtle, modern yet minimalistic look.
Can you do a review of the Suzuki Burgman 125 please? (not the new "Street" one though) I have one and love it, but I don't see much love for it on TH-cam, would love to see you review it!

For price per mile around town and shorter out-of-town transport, even (especially) if you service the machine religiously, there is no cheaper way, even if you were to take taxis and own no vehicle - bicycle excluded.
Good afternoon TMF once again another super review. Thank you and take care 😎👍🇬🇧.
id just like to share this. the price difference is massive in your market compared to here in my country (Philippines).
You don’t see many good ones like this on TH-cam
Always nice, bright and energetic reviews buddy. Well done... I enjoy these
Thinking of buying on as my 125 as im upgrading from a 50 at the moment
Same here mate
I have ordered one and will be getting it next week. Can't wait to ride
Congratulations!
Thanks!
An interesting option - such a step up from mopeds that are popular with teens here in Michigan.
Chilly winters day 😜
It,s very hot here, Tomorrow we'll reach 37°.
I just bought one of these I collect it tomorrow! thanks a lot for your video encouraging me to pull the trigger on it.
Exciting times!
@@TheMissendenFlyer nervous times! its all ice and wind here in lancashire for 4 days im concerned to say the least. Ive never understood why they are not any automatic proper bikes, do you have any idea why not ?
Nice review as usual. I did want to point out that the front disk looked a little dirty. It may have contributed to a weak brake impression.
Agree.. back in the 80's we couldn't wait to be 16.. Out on our TS50ERs, MB5s, X1s, DT50M, AR50s etc..
Love this review! I've spent about a month with mine and made a video about it, I agree with everything you're saying. It's super Nippy!
Your reviews are dope sir
I appreciate that
It's winter already? Better de-ice the car.
Well spotted - I’ve been saving this one up!
Thank you for the nice review, still been waiting for your Kawasaki Versys 300 review!
Be interesting to see you review the 2018 Honda Forza 125 and the 300 when it finally hits the showrooms in August..
Pro tip: If the numbers at the top of the phone display aren't counting up, you're not recording ;)
At least we know you're human now!
It was leave it in or bin the whole video!
here in the philippines it's 155cc. nice bike. a lil bit big. good for long ride. not so good in traffic.
The nmax isn't thta big the xmax is a much bigger machine I think the nmax is really small and nimble
It looks nice....only problem now is I see a scooter and my heart sinks!, it won’t last 30seconds parked in a UK town or city nowadays....the next time you see one of those it will have no plate, no ignition and pushing a stolen speed triple :(
Really I live in zone 2 and see scooters parked up all the time! With no issues
Yep had my scooter stolen and I am in the North things have got really bad in the last year or so.
Thanks for the review.
Bought one today, got to wait until Tuesday to pick her up.
Oh, the agony.
I share your pain bro - but exciting times eh?
Congrats on 80k subscribers.
Thanks...
80 k subscribers congratulations!
Thanks
Do a review of the Tricity 155 .
155 is a lot stronger based on this video
I have had mine up to 130 kph - 80 mph . Very happy with the scooter after 2 years !
@@halearle What kind of fuel consumtion can be achieved with the 155?
@@halearle And have you had any reliability related issues :)?
GMT + 6 months?
Correct - well spotted!
Thanks for the review very nice scooter by all accounts, it was on my shortlist recently, however i opted for the Honda sh125. A few extra bells and whistles on the Honda, traction control key less euro 5 compliant. I really enjoy your reviews advice and tips.
Nice one John and glad you enjoy my videos!
TMF......Please get your hands on the new Honda PCX 125 2018 model.......cheers in advance 🙂
Hello there from Canada. I would love to see your review on the BMW c400x scooter if you ever get the opportunity.
I'm thinking about getting myself one. Very helpful, great review.
Thanks...
Great review
Since youve test both
Nmax and xmax which one would
You choose
Xmax
@@TheMissendenFlyer thank you + more views + likes for you
Great review and chat, just got my first ever scooter and its a white nmax, pickin up today 4pm, i hope ive made a good choice
Congratulations!
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks bro
Try the 155cc variants, it has better torque and higher top end.. As usual, it's superb content! Cheerio!
You cannot buy the 155 version in the UK.
Yes , nice review , but the weight is NOT 175 kg with all the fluids , but 127 kg wet weight !
What a great review I was looking at the pcx 125 aswell what bike would you recommend to get?
Well I’ve not ridden the pcx but it is very popular! Best try both??
Nice review again TMF
How about testing the Yamaha Xmax 400?
You will then have tested the whole Yamaha scooter range!
Never mind a retro bike, maybe we will see a scooter becoming the latest addition to the man cave!? ;)
I'm getting a scooter on my 16th birthday next month! Can't wait
I'll also keep on watching the video until my birthday next months. So your have loads and loads of reviews! 😂
I would wait till 17 while ur 16 u can only have a 50cc which is slow
@@twists24s99 you can derestrict them some 50s will do 60....
Hahahah, a slight distraction at 3.12! Worthy of a walk around? Good review as usual.
Can you do a review on new yamaha nmax ?
Will see!
"Hey kids, shake it on your scooter. The headlight's hitting something that's been known to change the weather. We shall ride, let us take ourselves along...."
Scooter incoming into TMF garage soon?
I'm waiting for the mobility scooter video next, only joking TMF.
Hey buddy, do you think this bike is beginner friendly? Considering something like this for my first bike
Chilly ? ! (O . O) . . . but Mr. Flyer, it's almost August ? ! You went to the North Pole on summer to test ride ?
18:15 that bus scared the ^&%$ out of me and I wasn't riding on the scooter.
Chilly winters day TMF? I guess this one has been on the subs bench for a while :-)
Indeed it has!
next week ill buy nmax thanks for this video.
I had a Yamaha Cygnus X 125. Lovely wee scooter, she’d done 20,000 miles riding on A roads.
Shame electrical issues put her to Bike graveyard
Thanks for sharing! Really love your review. Please review Honda PCX. Thanks.
This bike is crazy popular in Indonesia..
Cheers
Im getting one of these, thanks for the review.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Im sure I will..I just wanted to ask you, are you actually speaking whilst your riding the scooter? Or have you just done voice ovet after doing the video? Reason I ask is because if your speaking whilst your doing the review I would love to know what device you are using as Id also like to get one. Thanks in advance.
@@michaeljohnson5321 Yes I am speaking whilst riding - using a gopro camera with a lavalier mic in the helmet....
@@TheMissendenFlyer brilliant, thank you so much. It sounds very clear with quality. Next pay cheque im going to cop one. Cheers. Keep the reviews coming. ✌
Yes I have an Aerox 155 in Thailand, its brilliant, better looking bike for less money, NMAX only wins if you carry a passenger.
(not the new "Street" one though) I have one and love it, but I don't see much love for it on TH-cam, would love to see you review it!
wishing id of gotten a scooter now. i baught a lexmoto zsx-f but its not what i really wanted. :( might have to look at buying one of these.
Could u do a video on the XMAX, NMAX and the TMAX
