IMO, Pilot Stolas is the way Blitz sees Stolas, just someone that uses him and has no real interest in seeing him as nothing more than a living sex toy, in exchange of keeping his job going.
I don't think he sees him as nearly that callous. He just can't see himself as that loveable, but he does love Stolas in a way he can't bring himself to acknowledge, as we see in his drug trip.

In the pilot it doesnt really feels that they are building a romance between Blitzo and stolas. It feels more like a "Leela and captain Zapp" situation

Really the way I saw pilot stolas and the way he sounded made think that we would’ve seen some abusive relationship a little bit similar to angel dust and Valentino where stolas was more dominant than we have now.
Pilot Stolas was definitely Top because he wanted to do the Blow Job to Blitzø

Having watched this video, I kind of wish we got a Stolas somewhere between the two. Have Stolas start of as a master manipulator just using Blitzo to screw over the other Ars Goetia for his own benefits, with sleeping with Blitzo just being an added bonus, only to eventually develop actual feelings for him. They could have then had the extra drama of the Ars Goetia finding out that Blitzo has the Grimoire and what he has been doing, and Stolas having to make the decision of whether or not to still let Blitzo take the fall or actually own up and come to the imp he now loves' defence.
Instead we got a sweet, caring, goofy, awkward, thirsty owl dad we all care very much about
I think he would have the same personality as Stella’s brother.

Considering Stolas was to have a family no matter which way he was written, I’d kind of love to have seen a darker version of his family, with him and Stella bickering but perhaps staying together because they can both barely tolerate how awful each other are. And then Octavia… imagine having a badass evil daughter of the antagonist getting back at Blitz for meddling with her dad cause of course she’d still have daddy issues. Idk. I’m sure what Viv would have given us would have been just as fun as what we have now if she decide to go with her first ideas, but I’m also happy with what we have now. I do sometimes with we could see a little evil creep out of Stolas from time to time, even if he’s kept soft, emotional and dramatic.
Probably no evil will ever happen, but I can definitely see two things that can set him off, just like he did with the DHORKS, the first time. Seeing Blitz and Octavia in a position of grave danger. And yes, right now, it doesn't look like he would care about Blitz, but we know that things will change anyway, and they will reconcile. While for Octavia.. he literally had no hesitation to petrify an imp who wanted to attack him and Octavia. He definitely wasn't afraid of the guy. He did this for Octavia's safety and only hers, since she doesn't know how to fight. If she ended up in a very dangerous, where she would be about to be killed, Stolas would have all the reasons to go mad and trying to kill whoever is getting close to her.
I liked the original Stolas because he made sense. You can over lay the original Stolas personality towards Blitz with new Stolas genuine fatherly love for his daughter Octavia creating a well balanced multi layered character. This also moves a bit of sympathy towards Blitz making both characters more nuanced.
Its fair that they rewrote stolas because in the pilot stolas still talked abt the arrangement and at some point he should have felt bad so i think they made stolas more of a emotional person who just wants someone who loves him
All in all, we love the version they gave us of Stolas! His is character development is amazing, he went from horny comic relief to one of the most tragic and beautiful characters in the show.

@ZeldaSam1 The goat girl and Cleetus, by their actions, feels like they are going to descend further into messed up stuff. While their sheep friend, (which I also forgot the name of, and probably the animal he is too..), might end up telling them to fck off, considering we keep seeing that he doesn't want to do any of that. Also, another point to add to this real quick, they tried to kill hellborbs. So unless this rule of not attacking hellborns is only for the exorcists, these guys lost all chances to ever be accepted back into heaven.

As someone who doesn't like Stolas as he is, I would've preferred villain Stolas at this point. Sure, he might parallel Alastor as a villain deutagonist too much, but Alastor is more chaotic evil while Stolas could be the lawful evil counterpart that takes the story in its own direction.
Plus, we'd likely get a good, more complex Stella to make up for Vivziepop's lack of competence at making good female characters (Only two of them are solid). I think Stolas could've been more entertainingly evil while still showing a caring side for his daughter, instead of neglecting her so much when he's supposed to be the good guy like in the actual show.
Likewise in heaven, especially when Adam admits about global warming is not a heaven problem, but a human problem.
So heaven and hell has the same mindset

For Stolas to begin his villain arc, he would have to go through a very painful character break. And yes, it would be a very interesting arc to see, How that person, who despite his flaws was still someone sweet who just wanted to be loved, breaks completely and no longer cares about anything, he will take what he wants and will not let them hurt him again

I personally am super glad that they decided to give the show an emotional heart and really took advantage of newly-cast-at-the-time Bryce Pinkham's acting range, which in turn pushed Brandon Rogers to show off more of HIS range. For me, the show would've been exhausting and somewhat offputting if it was wacky kill-the-humans antics all episode every week, that's my least favorite part of the show. I mean for real, if you've got Bryce Pinkham and you're not using him to sing big dramatic ballads what are you even DOING with your life?

I guess they rewrote Stolas not after pilot but after episode 1 after hearing Bryce Pinkham (new VA) voice recording and all crew went "aaaaaaw it's too cute, we must rewrite it!" (yes in original source it was stated that was the main reason of changing Stolas's personality to more sweet)

I know this is mostly speculation, but it would've made for a good plot in an alternate universe. Ultimately, I'm happy that Stolas became a character that we want to empathise with. After all, it is hell, and there is no shortage of potential evil big bads.
You know when the pilot episode, I didn’t really like him by chance, but in the full series, we get to see more of his personality changes in real life. It also makes sense that he wants to admit his feelings towards the man he loves in real life and I’m not trying to blow it all up this time like he did previous episodes.

Stolas' character development was amazing. From some rich dude who just seemed to want to sleep with the hot imp next door and saying dirty things at every opportunity to a caring father, who is unhappy with his wife and falling in love with Blitz for real and not caring for their differences in status, to outright confess his feelings to Blitz, even trough he knows that their relationship is not the standard. Best character! ❤️

I find I interesting of how Stolas was originality going to be.
White spots on an imp are meant to indicate scars, like with Fizz and his entire face scarred white except for his nose, so I always thought the white spots in the hair meant that character at one point had a head injury.
Viv definitely made stolas to be one of the fan favs with shipping him with the mc

I love a well done evil royal and i would have liked to have seen pilot stolas more in the regular series. However i cant deny that stolas has become one of my favorite characters regardless of the changes made.

Theory: Pilot Sella would actually end up being in love with Blitzo and becoming the victim of spousal abuse.

I agree Millie was probably not originally trans, she just was a white haired imp who wanted dark hair for some reason. The hair color tied to birth sex seemed to have started in the series post- pilot as you see other imps in the pilot with inconsistent designs, too.
I do think it's cool that they standardized the hair colors later as another trait that doesn't get as much notice as the horns.
In the pilot I think you see some imps with even naturally bi-colored hair, and the mom with the carriage has white hair but also doesn't have normal imp horns at all. The pilot was really a whole separate rodeo before the world building was finalized. Like a beta level of a familiar game that surprises you with its differences.

Blitz was originally going to be a secondary character to HH who would act as an "opposite" to Charlie, the opposite side of the coin. As Charlie tries to redeem the sinners and put the past behind them, Blitz adds fuel to the fire by inciting them to take revenge, causing the sinners to act on their resentment.
Personally I dislike him now too. Like at first I liked they changed him, but when someone pointed how Viv make everyone around them being the bad one so he can be good made me dislike him a little bit
If they went with the original, most of us will be rooting for Stella more because she is the one who is in love with Stolas and would even found it is very tiring to deal with Stolas kept prioritizing the politics and power plays of the Ars Goetia over his own family, which is something he most likely told her and Octavia in case they discovered that the grimiore happened to be in Blitz's possession.
To think in the original plot Stella would be the birb we all know and love and might of even gotten a focus episode.

Personally, I would prefer if Stolas remained as a villain. I mean, Stolas, the series was very clear and frank with himself and with others, but Stolas, in the pilot episode, was ambiguous and somewhat suspicious, and also Stolas’s sexual desires would have been likely to be a play prepared by Stolas to lure Blitz into carrying out his desires, and that was the plot. It will develop into a crossover between Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel
Don't get me wrong, I like Stolas being sympathetic and kind, but the plot would have been better if he was evil
I think we may be headed towards a focus more in the direction of what was originally intended now with the asmodean crystal and them technically being under Asmodeus jurisdiction - Asmodeus may have some political agendas behind the scenes he will have the IMP carry out (or possibly rent out to the other sins), getting the IMP involved in earth politics after all and giving the characters originally intended for that more time to shine (like DHORKS)

I think I speak for us all when I say I’m glad we got the Stolas we have now instead of the one from the pilot. The Stolas we have now is a lot better, I mean a lot. If the pilot Stolas was the official version we see now, I might not be able to watch Helluva Boss.
You don't speak for us all. I'm disappointed and heartbroken that the menacing, regal, intimidating, and intelligent Stolas was canned. It's actually hard for me to watch Helluva Boss when he's on-screen because I think of how far he's fallen.
in the nicest way possible-bryce pinkham doesnt have a villainous voice. he has a softer voice that wouldnt fit a mean/evil stolas. *in no way am i shitting on bryce, ive seen him in 2 broadway shows and hes fabulous*
But he still gave off pilot-like vibes in episode one. One could get the impression that he was being purposefully condescending and manipulative. It could have been a neat contrast for this devious, cool villain to have a soft, light voice. (To be clear, I would have greatly preffered Baker, but I would take what I could get if Stolas could have remained a villain.)

I really wish that the show followed the original plot, not that I hate the way it goes now but I SIGNIFICANTLY would have liked the original idea better, the show has truly changed wether it was planned or not, I have been watching since the first episode came out and I remember being so extremely in love with the plot, but it has changed and feels so much like a different show

The joy of a show like Helluva Boss is that it just gives us this entire other world to escape to even when there isn't official content coming out, we're able to just build on the world our selves. I hope your life gets better. When I Was younger my escape was online fandoms like Sailor Moon.
I’m happy we got the helluva boss we have because it’s a lot more interesting especially stolas and I’m happy instead of earth (I mean who wants to see a lot of episodes of this dump) the other rings are being explored and I can’t wait for the final sins to be revealed which Satan is next and then probably leviathan considering someone from helluva boss I THINK it was vivziepop but I could be wrong said they were really close with being done with the designs and stuff for Satan and leviathan and then the princess of sloth bellephegor who’ll be the last one because she wasn’t mentioned about being close to completion (unless I’m wrong)
I also wonder if how they would have met would be different. I’d Viv had gone with the pilot story, I genuinely wonder if she would have kept them being friends as kids. I know she’s said she always imagined them meeting as kids, but she might have changed her mind if this is how the story would’ve gone.
One observation I made;
Im pretty sure what we see in the pilot about Stolas is how Blitzø sees Stolas in the canon, but this time bc of his trust issues.
This might have been the thought process during this change of scenario, like "what if Blitzø's vision of Stolas was bc of his personal issues and Stolas isnt actually like that" etc..
the “over population” issue in Hazbin Hotel is really just the sinners, since they’re immortal and can only die to angelic weapons.
I’m gonna say it: Unpopular opinion but I don’t like how current Stolas has changed the trajectory of the show.
I went into _HB_ hoping for a more episodic, Brandon Rogers-vibed, _Invader Zim_-esque murder comedy. The kind of show I feel I could comfortably recommend to _Invader Zim_ fans. Like _IZ,_ the primary premise doesn’t need to interfere with expanding the world (there are plenty of episodes that are more about Zim’s background than his actual mission to infiltrate and conquer Earth, and even among the Earth episodes, there are a lot of episodes that offer a peek into Irken society and Zim’s actual skills at almost anything other than his mission). “Harvest Moon”, for instance, probably could have worked mostly unchanged were Stolas the main antagonist instead; Striker just maybe could have been acting independently as someone who, like most Wrath imps, just hates the elite and wants them dead and Stolas is an easy target at the moment, but, though Blitzø can sympathize, he still needs Stolas alive to keep his business afloat.
Besides, the hints about Blitzø’s past showed up as early as “Loo Loo Land” with Robo Fizz (technically before that if you count the circus stuff in the background all around I.M.P.’s office in the pilot and “Murder Family”). We still would have had plenty of opportunity to see more around Hell without having to involve Stolas as the central love interest. Heck, maybe Stolas in an antagonistic role would have made for more excuses to explore around Hell regardless because, again, with this premise, we kinda want to root against him but Blitzø still needs him alive for his business.
Look, *TL;DR:* I would’ve really loved to see this version of _Helluva Boss._ If I wanted an inter-class romance drama, I’d go to any trashy visual novel app.

I actually believe the original voice actor had plans, so Vivzie got someone else to play them.
With how different the new actor’s approach was for solas, Vivzie changed his character up to fit the Different approach!

I definitely got some potential Valentino vibes from Stolas in the pilot so this certainly tracks. We never really saw that side of him again in the series proper.

Here is a thought: would pilot Stolas and Stella have had a more happy relationship? Stella seems to hate Stolas in part because of what a soft boi he is. If Stolas where more manipulative/cruel Stella and Stolas would probably have been able to have a marriage of convenience with them being friends of sorts, if not having an out right romantic relationship. I could see Stella having no problem with pilot Stolas having sex with Blitzo so long has Stolas keeps it on the down low. In this cause it would be Stolas just getting his jolly's off at the novelty of being rough dogged by a peasant so Stella wouldn't have to worry about loosing all the perks she gets from being married to Stolas.
Where did you get the idea that Stella hates Stolas for being soft? I'm curious because all she said when asked was "I enjoy tormenting you" with no elaboration as to why. I myself headcanon a little she hates being in an arranged marriage and takes it out unfairly on him, but it's just a headcanon because there's literally zero insight into Stella's hatred.

That's basically the joke is its a series where you get a Sonic/Shadow or Naruto/Sasuke kind of dynamic, but we play it up for laughs and bonding.

The reason she changed Stolas's character is that she and Brandon Rogers (Blitz's VA) think that he and Blitz would make a really cute couple.
They gave us blue balls with that cliffhanger in the latest episode. 😅

Personally i feel the story would have been more interesting if they stuck to keeping stolas as a villain. If that did happen I could probably imagine Blitz and Stolas's relationship to be very simalar to angel dust and valentino, albiet to a lesser extent due to no soul contract. It would have definitely made Blitz more tragic as a result due to having to deal with Stolas's sexual and emotional abuse towards him piled on top of the circus fire tragedy that blitz was already having a hard time dealing with. Now as for stella, I know some might think that if stolas was the villain she'd be the innocent one trying to keep the peace, however for me that wouldn't be that interesting because it'd just be a reversal of what is currently known. So instead I'd probably I have stella's personality be close to the same as it is in the show, She'd be cruel towards him but more understandibly so considering his actions. As for Via, well I think she'd stay the same but her situation with dealing with her parents constantly fighting and what would be worse is that stolas wouldn't be trying to act all innocent but instead verbally insulting stella and making via just fed up with it.
these are just a few ideas i thought of for villains stolas, but what would you all think.
I always have wondered how it transitioned from Blitz stealing from Stolas to Stolas later allowing it.
I think it would have been interesting if some aspects of the original plot were kept. We could have seen what his duties were before he agreed to minimize them. We could have seen Stolas making requests for Blitz and his employees.
I love the show as is, but it would be nice to explore more.

It's sounds pretty much what I was originally expect from the show as more of a serialized series. I I like both paths and I don't mind they one they took it's certainly still a enjoyable series none the less.
This will be important when we get a strange multiversum system to this show just like every other TV serie nowtimes😂
Its not a simple accident when the person who was prepared as a villain starts to live his/her own life and become a main character of the show. Its hard to kill a person like that for the creators.

My original theory for the Ars Goetia was that they're the organization in Hell that handles dealings with the human realm. Basically, demonic possessions/summonings, Satanic cults, and other Hell influences on Earth are all controlled by them. It would make sense, and explain why Stolas has such easy access to the living world while none of the characters in Hazbin Hotel have any whatsoever; Stolas is a member of the Ars Goetia, and they aren't.
This is also in line with stuff they've introduced since then. Asmodeus is also a demon in the Ars Goetia, so Asmodean crystals make sense, and we've also seen that Stolas can open portals to the living world without the book, which shows how he performs his duties while Blitzo has it. The thing that would confirm this for me would be seeing another Goetia, like Andrealphus, have on-demand access to the human world like Stolas does.
And while I'm thinking of it, I also headcanon that because of this, Goetias have a strict no-contact policy with sinners, because a sinner going to the human world would make Heaven furious. To my knowledge, we've never seen Stolas in the same place as a sinner, and I think this is why.
My theory is just that the goetia are the native species to the pride ring, it makes sense. They are the ruling class and the pride ring is the main ring, it rules over all the other rings.
Since you mention the fact that Asmodeus is also a Goetia, everyone remembers that in demonology he is the demon of lust, but they rarely mention that he is also the king of earthly spirits, of the supernatural entities that move among the living. This information makes your theory make more sense.
I don't think the Goetia are prohibited from interacting with sinners, since from what can be seen, Stolas lives in the Pride Ring, if interacting with sinners was prohibited, why live in the only ring where they can be?

I allways thought that blitz ( who canonically pansexual) was basically a sort of ironic parody of someone who wanted to sleep his way to the top for influence and The consequences of that practice. Note that both of his lovers ( verosika and Stolas) have prominant roles in their home rings. Adding to that he is simultaneously a boss/ authority figure in his own business.
In pilot I have a feeling they both hate each other but in season 2 of the show I see more love between them.
