I was shocked and sad to see that in 2017 kids still go through this ordeal of acceptance in school and family. I'm glad your family supported you, but what you felt was what I felt growing up in the 70s in a South American Catholic Macho country. No one should be subjected to this. But I can say that as you grow older, things will get better. Good luck
Dale Cooper I know right😪 sadly I know a lot of people who are afraid of coming out just because they don't think they will/won't have any support from friends and family. You would think that in 2017 things would be different

It is a tough process, but it looks like you got through it on your own terms. Good for you Samuel! I'm glad that you're happy and able to be yourself. ;) Also, what you said is very true. Great story, so glad you had a positive outcome at the end. To anyone reading this, who is also struggling, I echo Samuel's final comment. When you choose to come out make sure you do it when it feels right for you, and that you are safe. x
Well done! A superb video, Samuel. What you say about the dozens of coming out videos being a great help is so true for people who need to tell their families and friends. Thank you for telling your story. Tack!
Thank you so much for sharing your coming out story! These are messages of hope, happiness, and life really does get better. I think most of us have all experienced a very similar story - but I am so glad you shared yours. Thanks again!
My advise is to tell siblings and friends first before parents because if all goes wrong (which rarely happens), there are people to support you, and with siblings, they can protect you when you tell your parents. Thank you for sharing your story. I think 1 video can go a long way and you are pointing it in the right direction.

You are SO beautiful! You have so much courage. You are so loved by generations of gay men, who had to struggle so hard to get where we are today. Reach out to others and make their coming out less painful. God bless.
Had no idea I was gay until I was 24 and still did not come out till I was 27. I had friends who were both male and female throughout my school years. No one ever had a clue, was never outed. Biggest challenges back in my younger days was AIDS or the Black Death so You Tube would have never helped. Glad I'm still alive these days and nowadays being out is not a big deal to me. I wish it could have been better but at least I'm still alive. Best of luck!!!!!
hello Sam. I just saw your video about your coming out. Your history make me cry 😢. Your are a courage boy. I appreciate a lot your advice. Thanks Simon. Your history is really important. Take baby. Milton
Thanks for sharing! I must say that I'm really surprised that even nowadays, even in Sweden, that there's still some level of homophobia in school. That shows we do need a lot of work to do. But congrats on finally being you! I know how hard it is to come out and I'm still thinking of how to come out to my parents.
Hi, yeah and I've realised that it's a common thing for people to be a bit homophobic.. I find it sad:/ Just don't stress when it's right it's right xx have a lovely day
Sam, thanks for sharing something so personal. This might be a bit long but it's a serious question/concern. Though I think the situation has improved from when I came out 30 years ago, it is still hard. It is still scary. It is sad that so many kids are still crying themselves to sleep and having to hide who they are. It is a huge burden that kids have to bear. Like you, I know that first hand. Since you are so open to sharing, I have a personal question for you. I don't have an answer or a solution, but I would like to know your opinion. What would make it easier to come out? Is there anything your family or friends could have done that would have encouraged you to come out sooner? Part of the reason I bring this up is that I have heard from people that were on the brink of killing themselves. When they did come out, most of their friends and family would say something like "oh, yeah, we knew...we don't care...we love you anyway", etc. Don't get me wrong, it's great that they had a positive coming out experience and were accepted and loved. But I just can't get over all the years of suffering, and fear, and hiding, and lying that some kids have to go through that might not have been necessary. Thank you in advance for sharing any thoughts you have.
hi, i think that one thing they could have done would be to have been a bit more oppenly supportive.. i dont really know. i think too much though, thats my major issue
Thank you Samuel - what can I say - I used Lockdown to come out - it meant I couldn't face anyone. It took me 38 years to come out, I know those tears - how did it take so long ? I suppose I grew up in a less inclusive era where being gay was not a real option. I never married though and I suspect a few of my gender have - I came out last Feb and never felt so relieved - I can be me now. I hope too to have a boyfriend - you realise it is the only thing that fits. Bless you and every happiness in the future in finding a true love.
@@SamuelKarlsson thank you Samuel for your gracious reply - that also means a lot to me - hoping to become involved in my local LGBT+ society - we can take a pride in who we are and be a blessing to both ourselves and to society - I have told myself a boyfriend will happen when I am ready - this takes time
You are such a cute guy!! I'm glad that you received such love and support from your family, I know for a fact that I wouldn't from most of my family (bi btw)
I am so happy for you that you finally came out!!! I totally understand I am gay also.. From what you said you remind me of myself!! Your such a handsome guy! I subscribed to your channel.....I must say one last thing you have the prettiest blue eyes..I hope I didn't offend you By saying that?
how do you know when its the right time? im 16 atm and promised myself that il move out before i come out because i dont want to get in trouble with my parents since they can be verry harch and they are homophobic but i dont want to feel like i am keeping a major secret from them and like I am wrong here any tips? on how to cope?
i think that if that is the way you see you parents, maybe its better to wait... or if you have like a safety net to fall back on like a friend or sibling that you can stay with. Thats the hardest part-knowing when the time is right
Samuel Karlsson Samuel Karlsson i have a friend to fall back on, but she is under 18 and lives with her parents so i wouldn't want to become a bother and stay there for over a day i have an 18 y o brother, but i notice that he also makes homophobic comments. i used to hope that he only said them to please my parents, but i noticed he also sais it when they are gone il wait, thanks for the reply it really helped
In elementary school I knew then I liked boys WAY MORE than I liked girls. I used to crush on the cute guys in my classrooms. Guess I matured way younger and way faster than my peers. But it was a time that you kept it all to yourself, which is harmful to your self being. Things are a bit different today compared to then. Glad you came out and be yourself.
I never came out and I am 62. I just lived my gay life. It was never discussed. I have been with my husband 32 years. I am more than being gay. Being gay does not define me. I am also an Engineer, Financial Planner, Republican, etc.
Thanks for being brave and sharing your story. I was really moved. What puzzles me is sometimes you sound like an American, then a bit of a Brit twist on a word. Were you living in the States before you went to Australia? Did you originate in the UK?
beachesboy1994 Nah man, I'm from Sweden:) studied Cambridge English for a while and then I went to Australia:) that's probably why my accent is a bit weird
Kind of you to take time to answer. I wouldn't call your accent weird. I was just trying to pin it down, since guessing where a person with an accent (for me) might be from is a hobby. I was a reference librarian in a public library in a town with a large university. Every so often a student would come in with an English/Australian/South African/New Zealand accent and I would amuse myself by saying to them, 'Do I detect an Italian accent?' Their confusion amused me greatly. Perhaps I am evil.
These "coming out" videos are always helpful to someone. Thanks for posting.

You have such a nice accent and you are cute too!!
Thank you for sharing your story. I recently came out, too.
how do you know when its the right time?
im 16 atm and promised myself that il move out before i come out because i dont want to get in trouble with my parents since they can be verry harch and they are homophobic
but i dont want to feel like i am keeping a major secret from them and like I am wrong here
any tips?
on how to cope?
i think that if that is the way you see you parents, maybe its better to wait... or if you have like a safety net to fall back on like a friend or sibling that you can stay with. Thats the hardest part-knowing when the time is right
Samuel Karlsson Samuel Karlsson i have a friend to fall back on, but she is under 18 and lives with her parents so i wouldn't want to become a bother and stay there for over a day
i have an 18 y o brother, but i notice that he also makes homophobic comments.
i used to hope that he only said them to please my parents, but i noticed he also sais it when they are gone
il wait, thanks for the reply it really helped
Why did you move to Australia?
Let love rule
Thumbs up for your video.
Thanks 4 this video 💖🙌🙌🙌🙌💖🙌🙌🙌🙌💖
Hej! Vad har har hänt med din kanal? En stordel av dina vlogs är försvunna.
Michael0301L tell me about it, still don’t feel mature😅 Coming out was one of the best decisions I’ve ever taken!
inspirable❤💚💜💙💛
hey where is the red heart;)
+Samuel Karlsson i would like to give personally😊😊😊
I'm stuck in closet and can't get out. I'm old (over 65).
best of luck to you im 47 and probely in denial such corage
WHO AND WHY WOULD DISLIKE THIS! But great video I related so much. I also hung out with the girls and everyone asked if I was gay.
You are a brave and wonderful young man. Don't let the evil religious homophobes get you down. You win!
Omg your beautiful 😥😱♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ #CanRelate to your story
