I adore Safranbolu. I have been there a few times. The first time I went I had a very strange experience. It felt like I had been there before. Me and my wife were walking around on the first morning, and my wife wanted to drink Turkish coffee. I explained that there was a very old cafe just around the corner! Even though I'd never been there before!.. And yep! A cafe was right around the corner which happened to be the oldest in the town! Always feel at home there, in fact me and my wife have discussed retiring there.
After watching you guys, we so want to travel around Turkey and especially the Black Sea coast! Love watching your travels, thank you so much for sharing them with us. 🥰

What a beautiful little place Safranboglu is! I thought that Amasra was my all time favorite place in Turkey, but I guess that it's now Safranboglu and Amasra together. The chocolate cake you had at 22:22 is a traditional Turkish chocolate cake, it's called "Islak Kek". I'm obsessed with it! It traditionally is made out of turkish black tea and chocolate!
We took the same route. Safranbolu to Amasra and back. Many many places in Turkey are a wonderful adventure. We were there for a month and want to go back.
In the USA try about $30/night for an RV parking spot. Other than over a month in quarantine in Istanbul, the pandemic does not seem to adversely affect your having a good time in Turkey. Certainly it has reduced tourism so the attractions, restaurants and highways are not over crowded.
Wow - good to know as we are still planning to come that way ... we better sell some more t-shirts !! LOL - Yes we are feeling very lucky to be here and we are going to areas now were the tourists should be as the holidays are over and they should be more quiet. Kind regards M

Glad you liked Safronbolu . If you're back in Istanbul , be sure to take the passenger ferry out to Buyukada. ( Big Island ). It's one of the Princess Islands you pointed out in one of your videos from the Asian side of Istanbul. You catch the ferry from the north side of the Galata Bridge, if it's still the same location. It's been a long time. There's no motor traffic on the Island. You get around on a horse and carriage or rent bikes. You can find a place to eat lunch. Be sure to go on a weekday . Weekends are crowded. A few km north of Istanbul in the town of Bebek (baby) , is Rumeli Hisar castle, which has been renovated. It's located between the 1st 2 suspension bridges along the bosphorus on the European side. It has a nice garden within the walls, and you can climb along the upper wall steps to get a view of the bosphorus. We lived behind the castle when my father taught English at Robert College. If you want to get back to nature, visit the Belgrade Forest, about 20 km north of Istanbul. There are walking trails, a reservoir , and a huge Roman aquaduct. Again go on a weekday , and bring a picnic lunch. Weekends are crowded. I mentioned these about a month ago , but doing it again in case you forgot.
@bsn2ndsflat Davis: On Büyükada the horse carriages are nowadays replaced by modern electric carts and all horses are retired in cozy farms enabling them to enjoy the rest of their lives in peace and harmony.

As usual, you've taken me back 12 years after to this lovely old town. I remember so well, this place gave me the creeps as I arrived in the evening and there were not much people back then, except for some locals, not even in the daylight. The only foreign tourists I've encountered were about 3, 2 Koreans and 1 Japanese girl, the whole 3 days stay. I have not seen you going up the hill to the clocktower though with a nice view of the town. Then again, another amazing place M&C!

If you’re still in Safranboglu, I‘d highly recommend to you the „Çevrikköprü“ restaurant. It is a beautiful cozy restaurant in the nature with a big pool in the middle with turtles and fish inside! The food is all organic as well and everything including the butter is hand made, we always go there when we go to Turkey!

I cannot believe that you have not eaten Kuyu Kebab, entered a Turkish Delight shop and eaten Turkish delight, or entered the old house and checked their rooms ...

Absolutely stunning village. I’m like yourselves old is definitely so beautiful. The cafe you stopped in for your Turkish tea looked so colourful and a great place to get out of the sun with always such friendly locals. That was some storm I hope Trudy is ok and you managed to stay safe 😀

Turkey is beautiful ! Ooooo. I love this. Noone is there. Gosh. What big population ? What crowded planet ??? Smog, planet ? Hmmmm Well, lot of land so far. Loved it. Very relaxing. You did all that walking. You two are sure fit ! What is an approx. cost to live there ? So wonderful ! Gosh, i love those sweet people !!!
Thanks JoAnn - it really is lovely and there is plenty of nature if you love it ... As we are in a van, it is difficult to gauge how much it cost to live here with taxes etc, but there are facebook groups for expats that you can join to learn more ... there is one called Kalkan living ... which we follow - there might be info there ... best wishes M

As usual, you've taken me back 12 years after to this lovely old town. I remember so well, this place gave me the creeps as I arrived in the evening and there were not much people back then, except for some locals, not even in the daylight. The only foreign tourists I've encountered were about 3, 2 Koreans and 1 Japanese girl, the whole 3 days stay. I have not seen you going up the hill to the clocktower though with a nice view of the town. Then again, another amazing place M&C!

If you’re still in Safranboglu, I‘d highly recommend to you the „Çevrikköprü“ restaurant. It is a beautiful cozy restaurant in the nature with a big pool in the middle with turtles and fish inside! The food is all organic as well and everything including the butter is hand made, we always go there when we go to Turkey!

I was born in an old multi-room house in Safranbolu. I haven't been going there for a long time. Thank you very much for the video. But there is a lot to do in Safranbolu. I cannot believe that you have not eaten Kuyu Kebab, entered a Turkish Delight shop and eaten Turkish delight, or entered the old house and checked their rooms ...
