I went to Kiko’s earlier this week. Had the same food from this episode. Xavier was outside. When I asked him if he was the Xavier from the video, his face lit up with that smile from this video. He talked with us and thanked us for coming down. You could tell he is a humble dude!
I’m a San Diego Native living in Los Angeles now, but seeing my hometown getting the recognition we deserve is an amazing thing. San Diego has everything and it’s its own world that’s different than LA or any other big city. It’s special. Big ups💯🙌🏽
I’m a native of SD. Kikos is the best. When family visit and they ask where’s the best Mexican seafood I always tell them Kiko”s. They laugh when I tell them it’s a food truck so bring a folding chair and enjoy.
Just got back from San Diego and accidentally found this place one day during the trip. Y’all their food is so bomb it’s surreal. My husband is Vietnamese and *very* picky about the quality and freshness of his seafood & he damn near had tears in his eyes while he was tucking away ceviche and tacos. It was a cold day and they were even giving out complimentary caldo to keep warm while eating and waiting.
San Diego REPRESENT! Hey fellow San Diego peeps reading this! I've been to Kikos and it is by far the BEST Mexican seafood tacos I've ever experienced. Also their caldo that they serve in little sample cups are TO DIE FOR. I highly recommend going there for those who want a good flavor explosion in their mouths.
El Pueblo off of Birmingham in Encinitas has the BEST fried fish taco. You put the green salsa on it and they're amazing. The best part is they're $1.29 a piece and I don't know how another restaurant could make them better
@metasocialmedia from the video, that looks like Mission/Fashion valley, which when I went, is right where it's at. Google says there's two and I remember when I went there for the second time 6 years ago, it also said two. The one I went to is across the street from the Fashion Valley Mall Trolley/Transit center, at the intersection of Friars Road and Fashion Valley Rd
Wow- thanks for captivating this chill, relaxed vibe that we San Diegan Mexican-Americans have. I was just talking to someone about this the other day- we are different from other Mexican-Americans in the state and I think it has to a lot to do with the beach culture. 😂 Also, we aren’t afraid of being bi-cultural/bilingual. I’ll hang out during the day at the beach with my White friends, then go have dinner in Tijuana with my Mexican friends. We have the best of both worlds. ❤
Im from Chula Vista and I love Kikos! I've been going there for a years. Took my brother from San Jose and he loves it now! Some of the best 🌮🌮 in the 619🤘🏼♥️ Gracias Mario!

Kiko's even takes aguas frescas to the next level. They serve Jamaica with generous slathering of Chamoy and Tajin around the rim of the cup. So delicious and mouth watering. This video is the Mission Valley location behind Hazard Center. The Friars Road location is great too.
@@m3pgi16this one is on the street behind hazard center between Mission and Fashion Valley. Kinda close to the SD river. Not sure if one of the trucks you’re talking about moved or this is a new one? The one on Texas st from what I remember, isn’t a Kikos anymore.
I'm pretty sure this is in mission valley and is a stone's throw from my apartment. I've always said i should try it, but I just never have for some reason. I'm going to go visit it this weekend though because of this video now
Can't help but be stoked for Paco when he stood up surfing. Oh the tacos I'm sure were excellent. We take that for granted here in socal. My dream is to open a taco spot in south of France in Carry le rouet.

Im not mexican but for me its the shell or tortilla cooked crispy a good salsa from scratch and fresh ingredients chicken, beef, or fish onions white or red , lettuce cabbage and creme if you cant handle hot chunky salsa with frwsh cilantro. Even a lot people using pork or pork skin etc... i presume alot these are fatty so they cut it with hot spices .
One thing or few things I notice with Mexicans they like fresh hot peppers 🌶 and guacamole and beans in tacos . Which are probably cheaper down south. Also fish tacos go good with creme herb instead of salsa but they use sliced or diced tomatoes.

Only thing that sucks about fish tacos all over San Diego is that they no longer use ocean fish . They use tilapia or basa wish is sold as white sea bass because of the name , but it's actually a fresh water fish family of the cat fish. These fish don't have that same taste as the original Baja fish taco made from ocean fish . But that's the price you pay for the high prices of good quality fish that limit small businesses from being able to purchase them.
