562. Curved Dinette and Plantain

In this video I clad the outside of the dinette with curved ply and make the dinette tops for the bits that are fixed next to the Goat Boat in Berkhamsted

13:20 - Uhm... you do know you can use those without a bag at all, right? Just tip out the bucket and pull off the central filter to knock off built up dust as needed.

I do similar to the Henry hover bags I take bag out pull all out through the hole last ages the bags

I use to be a shipwright, there is some stuff called bendy board that is designed to bend around those curves. I would veneer over this but if you want to use the board you have you can insert some where you hogged out and you would get a strong smooth curve. You could also make corner piece that is proud by what looks like 3/8”. People kick those corners and they need to be strong.

You could make your own compressed wood pellets from all the saw dust 🤣 It’s really coming along well and you’re becoming an ace at curving 🤓

With regards to the seating storage. We did away with the hinges on the lids and had, what my dad called, bowling ball holes. Made it easier to lift the seating out and also aided with ventilation under the seating. It also made for better storage as the whole piece of wood came out.

Consider using Polyurethane wood glue. It goes off a lot quicker than the Evostik

to save yourself the trouble of hinging the inset wood pieces where you need access, just drill a hole in each one so you can easily lift them out . and then set the wood lids into the recesses .

You're so tall, is your dinette table to be free standing. I always find restaurant dinettes a challenge at 6ft 4in. Also gives you flexibility for wider floor area or turning through 90° - not sure why you would turn it yet!! 😎

Where you put those spacers, would it be better to leave a bit unroutered out so you don’t need the spacers on the corners?

Hi James I'm looking at a narrow boat on Saturday but it has rust on the water line and from what I've been able to make out it hasn't been blacked for over 7 years so how much of a risk is this and should I steer clear?

@@LesPhilpott a surveyor would be able to advise you best but most boats have rust on the water line - it’s not a deal breaker. It would be worth a decent inspection out of the water though to be sure
