My wife died on November 30, after a month in a hospital, a nursing home and back to the hospital. I would have given the world to give her one moment of natural beauty, before the end.
I've watched way more and still, this show has so many scenes that bring me to ugly crying. The last time I watched it with my (now) wife and she had never seen it... She didn't understand why I started getting teared up before certain parts. After she finished the story with me, at the end, she said "Oh now I understand." God blesses the heart that feels compassion.
When this remake was announced, I rolled my eyes. "Can't they make something original?" I remember asking myself. Everyone involved in making this series proved me wrong. Easily one of my favourite science fiction series ever made.
Jamie Bamber's facial expressions during the hug with Adama are masterful. You can see the sorrow at losing his father, of knowing he's not coming back this time, and the acceptance of that fact cross Apollo's face as he hugs his father for the last time. Kudos to both actors for such a powerful scene.
Both my parents died of cancer about 15 years ago. I was in my mid-20s then, yet the image of my parent's gaunt faces and ravaged skinny figures haunt me to this day. It scared me into not living life. This scene moves to the core me every time I see it
Gah. This scene always got the tears standing in my eyes. Just the other night I had a dream where I got to talk to my dad again, and he said "I don't have much time, son." I know we talked, but like so many dreams, the good faded away faster than the rest. I can't remember what we talked about.
Great actors. She even got the breathing part down. Watching loved ones pass on wasn't as scary as I was led to believe that it would be. I sat vigil with my dad 15 years ago the night he passed away. I didn't realize that when you die it's not this sudden shutdown, stopping of the heart and lights out. I mean, for some people it is, but for most of us it's something closer to what she acted out in these scenes. The shortness of breath, coupled by the loss of consciousness. You stay conscious less and less as your organs begin to shutdown. The gag reflex goes, and then it's the wet breathing sound, and then nothing. We just fade away. Her character was pumped full of stimulants and other drugs to keep her functioning and coherent her last two days alive, so I could see her just crashing the way she did at scenes end. Very realistic portrayal of someone actually dying. Such great actors on this show.
Best series ever made. The show put viewers through the wringer with these characters, and in the end you felt like you had truly lived with them through good and bad, but mostly hard, times. As a result, these characters by this finale had become multidimensional. This three-hour conclusion is brilliant, but it's this last hour with its character focus that resonates the most. It's as close to perfect of an ending as I could have asked; I felt like I had read a great novel. Ron Moore stuck the landing beautifully with this series.
Lee was staying on the planet his dad was going back to the ship to take the president to get treatment. There was no way they be able to see each other again
@@theshadowboxer yes she died on the way back so maybe he did go back to be with his son but I still think he went back to captain the ship and stayed there
@@ryans413 what actually took place is Adams took her in the raptor, not for treatment, but rather to spend her final moments taking a look at the planet. Had nothing to do with treatment. She passed away looking at the beauty of the animals. The end scene of him with her burial on that clifflike vantage point with the easterly view is where it ends with no sign of reuniting and they played the scene with Lee as a final goodbye for both Roslyn and Adams.
There wouldn't be a Raptor to be found since they tossed all the tech into the sun. It's also incredibly rare to find many intact remains even after just 150,000 years. Most of our knowledge on prehistoric humans is based on just a couple hundred remains while dinosaurs is based on 10-30. Assuming some future digger wins the lottery by finding colonist remains, they'd likely be attributed to a different race of humans or an earlier version of themselves - both of which we have in real life. They'd never be identified as originating on another world.

Because it's a tv show and it had to end. It's just trying to give some closure. If you want to believe that after a month of grieving he went out to find his son you are welcome to do so! It's unwritten so make your own earth lore.
I can never watch this scene without crying.
I have watched this entire saga and all the additional shows etc. many many times and I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Friggin Mary McDonald. Giving the Emmy performance and not getting the recognition she deserves.
This entire series and all of the actors did not get the recognition they deserve.
This is still the best show I have ever seen on TV.
"I don't have much time, son.."
"I understand."
One of my favorite bits of dialog from the entire series!
Why?

She did have that moment of natural beauty. She had you Jeff, Godspeed.
Chemistry between Adama, Roslin, Kara and Lee - palpable- incredible amazing show - it is missed so much even to this day.
They loved each other to the very end... and beyond.
Love is the Only thing that can transcend death
My allergies always act up when I get to this scene on a rewatch.
watched the entire series 7 times, how am i still crying so much with this scene? So perfect, such a chemistry!

the chemistry between all of them is truly insane (all actors). really special......
so many years... and this was one of my best scene ever.... so heart tuching
Then she died, resurrected into a new body and took over a Major Crimes unit in some police department.
But still, this scene is heartbreaking.
Oh the feels. I watched this for the first time at a watch party in CTV's studios. Never, ever forgotten.
Love how Bill carried Laure into the ship

gods, but Bear McCreary's musical score is so fracking good.
"What do you hear, Starbuck?"
The finest TV drama ever.
Dammit this scene still hurts. Bill Adama is one of the greatest characters in TV history.
Why must you hurt me in this way
GODDAMN, it’s dusty in here.
That was so sad. They finally found peace but sorrow.
First time I've watched the full scene and now I'm sitting here crying.
best series ever
the finale had serious writing issues (“God did it”), but the emotional payoffs were huge.
Theirs was a beautiful love story, even at the end, especially at the end..... X
Guess I picked the wrong day to quit chopping onions.
Laure and Bill bond was so strong during a few month
feel like crying now
I never understood why it had to be a final goodbye between Adama and Lee.

What happened to the raptor?
As someone that had someone close die of cancer that hit real close to home. I also never understood why Adama had to say goodbye to his son. Why???
He probably didn’t want to live without Rosalyn. 🥺
Why does Adama say "I don't have much time son", was he sick too?
no.. he simply knew Roslin was about to die so didnt had much time to expend with her
I have many Problems with ending why was this Lee and Adama last meeting with each other?.
