You saved me $180!!! The local shops I took it to said there is "no way to clear BCM codes. You have to do a reprograming of the BCM, not just a clear". Clearly they were wrong. Dude you are the MAN! So I went to advanced auto and bought the $65 scanner. Brought it home it was useless didn’t even read any error codes. Returned it. Ordered this cheapy elm 327 off Amazon $21 (because I have an iPhone I needed WiFi version) I just got it in the mail plugged it in cleared codes AND MY FRICKEN LEFT BLINKER/BRAKE CAME BACK! Thanks

I'm currently having this issue, with my left tail light on a chevy malibu. I will give this a shot. Diagnostic = $160. Already paid. I told them it was probably the BCM too, and they didn't believe me. Now they're saying it is the BCM and quoted me $725 to fix. It'll even be an aftermarket part. I have spent HOURS on this over the last month. Hope you're right!

OK bought the $22 reader for android only and downloaded the car scanner app. Only codes that appeared were a misfire on cylinder 4. Cleared the codes and the turn signal and brake light worked! So appreciative that you put this out thanks! Did change the bulbs out first but definitely cheaper than taking it to a shop to just read and clear the codes much less pay for troubleshooting.
Ok the wifi version ended up working for me after several annoying attempts to get it connected. cleared 5 codes and blinkers and break lights now work... so after buying both the wifi and the bluetooth version at 20.00, I saved myself 900.00 in repairs. Thanks Again!!
Wow! Baught that scanner hook it up (wifi version) connected it to the app, cleared codes and bam! Back in business. Note to others. I spent a whole weekend changes fuses that were good replaced both bulbs and sockets even tried the sticking the battery terminal together for 2 minutes to reset the system and nothing. I found this video searching though TH-cam scrolling through countless videos and found this one. Figure before I spend hundreds on a new control module I might as well buy this first. Shit was easy and took me less than 10 minutes. Thank you so much for creating this video shit was a money saver! Much love man.

Can confirm the first scanner listed in the updates section of the description worked. Scanned all modules for codes. None detected. Cleared all modules. Turned truck on and everything worked fine!

Thank you!….kind of, So my 2011 I put alpharex led’s on (with transistors) worked great for about 3 or 4 months. Then right brake/turn light went out. Taillight portion still worked but not the brake/turn on right side. After watching your video I ordered the ELM on amazon and cleared the codes. Didn’t seem to work until I cycled the ignition a couple times. Now the brake lights and turn signals work but it still hyper flashes for right turn only? Let me know your thoughts, I’m not sure what to think. At first I thought maybe my transistor is bad but why would the brake light work at all then? But you were right, I had no brake or turn lights period before the clear. Many thanks!
Thank you. I just fixed my 11 f150 . The brake lights on rear driver did not work. Or the blinker. It wasn't the bulbs and It had electricity. THis was it!!! That same device. It works.

I was so skeptical of this scanner. My friends and I chased shorts and replaced relays. Spent hours diagnosing this. We got this scanner as a Hail Mary and it worked. My 50 dollar autozone scanner didn’t work but this ten dollar thing did.
My Ex's F150, I was always changing the bulbs and it was never a problem but hers was a 2004. My 2014 F150, same issue, just change the bulbs. It was driving me crazy, WTF is the problem. i got my scanner on the way. I got a wired OBD II scanner, $25 on Amazon, I feel it's worth it...a little. I am like you, I will go through all my knowledge before I'll take it to a mechanic.

Hey Cedric, thanks for the video. So I went to Oreileys to use their scanner...which seems very high tech and my vehicle didn't have any codes to clear. Both bulbs are functional (filaments in tact), fuses are good to go....I really thought I'd get lucky but upon scanning there wasn't anything to clear and my issue persists. Anyone else having an issue here? Is there a change the OBD2 readyer you have is more advanced than Oreileys or did you have a check engine light on already?

@@ChadHenkel if its nothing else its almost certainly this. Good luck. I dont know about the forescan app but the free generic app I used worked fine. (Was it Forscan? Idk)
@@ChadHenkel did it work? I just went to Oreilly, they use an Innova DST. It’s more complicated than any other DST I’ve used before. After I got home I researched how to use and saw that I didn’t properly scan “all modules” in the DTC menu. I ordered the OBDII online and will try it next per the video instructions.
I definitely need to try this out. I noticed the fast blinking on my 06 ford f150 and thought it was just the bulb so I replaced it with no luck. The issues you're having are exactly like mine. Same side, brake light on the right doesn't illuminate after pressing the brake and the signal light won't come on. Only time the brake light comes on is with the running light but thats it. Checked fuses, all good. I'd rather test as many possibilities than go to the dealer. Just ordered the scanner so we shall see...

@@edgarlicea8170 yes i did. In my case, I had LED's in the headlight turn signals and it turned out one of the bulbs were bad . It was wierd though cause it was intermittent at first before it became permanent. I also swapped the bulbs from sides during my initial troubleshooting and the problem stayed on the same side. Maybe i mixed up the bulbs at the time, im not sure. The DTC clear also worked a few times before it no longer did. But yea either way, i ended up taking out the bulbs and bench testing them which confirmed that the blinker part of the bulb was in fact bad, swapped out with normal halogens and the problem went away. These were no cheap LED bulbs either, they were $75 GTR Canbus led's i got from the retrofit source . What a waste of money those are, total junk, had nothing but problems with them since day one and the one that burned out only lasted a few months. Would love to find some LED's to replace the halogens with again since they did look very good, but I'm very wary due to my bad experience with these. If anybody can recommend one based on a good experience would be cool. But yea, I hope that answers your question @Edgar Licea. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
Now I'm curious as to why the BCM disabled the light circuit in the first place. It does this when it senses an overload.....but how did you overload it?
Yet it hasn't happened again. I think these vehicles just have alot of bugs. The wiring is especially brittle and problematic in these. In the doors and behind the entertainment center for sure.

Sorry. I'm not an expert on the device and how it works. Mine didn't say I had a BCM issue at all. Maybe your truck has no issues but I would suggest trying to clear anyway if there's a clear button. Its been years now and our apps may vary so sorry I can't be more help there.
It was in the video. A generic free app. And if they had issues connecting properly thats likely because of another part of the video you missed where I said get the Bluetooth version.

@@omarperez935 Just search Amazon for OBD2 scanner and look through them. Make sure you get one that works with your phone. Some are Android or IPhone only. They range anywhere from like $10 to $99 from what I'm seeing. I see a very similar one to the one I used but its for $22. And it only works with Android. I will reply back with that link if you want but again, I can only vouch for the one I used.

Its a little weird for me.. I connect a trailer and the lights work just fine... But I use my rv and.. 1 left turn blinks fast, right turn blinks normal. 2. Running lights of my truck work fine, running rv lights don't work at all; but left and turn signals work... I checked the wiring harness and the rv plug and found out only 2 of all have power but the rest don't... I checked all fuses and they are fine.. Now... my rv has a battery but it's not connected. I'll buy the terminals and see if it's the charging thing that is not reading or something 🤔

I have a 2009 F-150 FX4 Offroad edition and the FORSCAN tool, there is no BCM (BodyControlModule) on this truck, just the GEMS module and I cannot locate the parameter that needs adjusting. Does anyone know where it might be located on trucks with only a GEMS module
Alright it didn't work for me 2010 Ford f150 lariat but I bought the" vlinker USB"($30)and I installed forscan (free) on my laptop and I was able to find the codes " DTCs in GEM/SJB: B106E-60, 82044-60" which detected short for stop and turn lamp I just reset the code and it works fine now.also I get no hyperflash since I had replaced the resistors thinking that was the issue prior to codes, but I get hyper flash on my right I guess I will change resistors as well
I have the bluedriver OBDII scanner that was $100 and another I just bought for like $12 after watching your video and I still have the hyper flash going on after clearing all codes. Any other suggestions? I do see where you shared an Amazon link to another reader that works for both types of OS's so I'll try that in the meantime incase you don't see this comment. It did not work. Also took to auto parts store to use their OBD2 tethered tools. Still a no-go.

My Ex's F150, I was always changing the bulbs and it was never a problem but hers was a 2004. My 2014 F150, same issue, just change the bulbs. It was driving me crazy, WTF is the problem. i got my scanner on the way. I got a wired OBD II scanner, $25 on Amazon, I feel it's worth it...a little. I am like you, I will go through all my knowledge before I'll take it to a mechanic.

Hey Cedric, thanks for the video. So I went to Oreileys to use their scanner...which seems very high tech and my vehicle didn't have any codes to clear. Both bulbs are functional (filaments in tact), fuses are good to go....I really thought I'd get lucky but upon scanning there wasn't anything to clear and my issue persists. Anyone else having an issue here? Is there a change the OBD2 readyer you have is more advanced than Oreileys or did you have a check engine light on already?
I don't know anything about O'Reilly"s scanner. No, I didn't have a check engine light on.
@@cedricwilliams6229 right on, I found the original video you referred to. The good news for me is it’s the exact issue you guys both have. Fingers crossed when it comes tomorrow, I can use that Forscan app and rid myself of this finally.

@@ChadHenkel did it work? I just went to Oreilly, they use an Innova DST. It’s more complicated than any other DST I’ve used before. After I got home I researched how to use and saw that I didn’t properly scan “all modules” in the DTC menu. I ordered the OBDII online and will try it next per the video instructions.

I definitely need to try this out. I noticed the fast blinking on my 06 ford f150 and thought it was just the bulb so I replaced it with no luck. The issues you're having are exactly like mine. Same side, brake light on the right doesn't illuminate after pressing the brake and the signal light won't come on. Only time the brake light comes on is with the running light but thats it. Checked fuses, all good. I'd rather test as many possibilities than go to the dealer. Just ordered the scanner so we shall see...
Better to try a $10 hack before going to the dealership any day

This has been the only serious problem with my 2011 Ford Raptor for YEARS the left blinker failing despite bulbs working. I hope this helps!

In my case, I had LED's in the headlight turn signals and it turned out one of the bulbs were bad .
It was wierd though cause it was intermittent at first before it became permanent. I also swapped the bulbs from sides during my initial troubleshooting and the problem stayed on the same side. Maybe i mixed up the bulbs at the time, im not sure. The DTC clear also worked a few times before it no longer did.
But yea either way, i ended up taking out the bulbs and bench testing them which confirmed that the blinker part of the bulb was in fact bad, swapped out with normal halogens and the problem went away.
These were no cheap LED bulbs either, they were $75 GTR Canbus led's i got from the retrofit source . What a waste of money those are, total junk, had nothing but problems with them since day one and the one that burned out only lasted a few months.
Would love to find some LED's to replace the halogens with again since they did look very good, but I'm very wary due to my bad experience with these. If anybody can recommend one based on a good experience would be cool.

Now I'm curious as to why the BCM disabled the light circuit in the first place. It does this when it senses an overload.....but how did you overload it?
Yet it hasn't happened again. I think these vehicles just have alot of bugs. The wiring is especially brittle and problematic in these. In the doors and behind the entertainment center for sure.
I tried it and it didn’t work one of the wire is cut do you think that might be why it didn’t work ?

Sorry. I'm not an expert on the device and how it works. Mine didn't say I had a BCM issue at all. Maybe your truck has no issues but I would suggest trying to clear anyway if there's a clear button. Its been years now and our apps may vary so sorry I can't be more help there.

Which app are you using? The instructions listen several, but they all had issues connecting properly.
It was in the video. A generic free app. And if they had issues connecting properly thats likely because of another part of the video you missed where I said get the Bluetooth version.

@@omarperez935 Just search Amazon for OBD2 scanner and look through them. Make sure you get one that works with your phone. Some are Android or IPhone only. They range anywhere from like $10 to $99 from what I'm seeing. I see a very similar one to the one I used but its for $22. And it only works with Android. I will reply back with that link if you want but again, I can only vouch for the one I used.

Its a little weird for me.. I connect a trailer and the lights work just fine...
But I use my rv and..
1 left turn blinks fast, right turn blinks normal.
2. Running lights of my truck work fine, running rv lights don't work at all; but left and turn signals work...
I checked the wiring harness and the rv plug and found out only 2 of all have power but the rest don't...
I checked all fuses and they are fine..
Now... my rv has a battery but it's not connected. I'll buy the terminals and see if it's the charging thing that is not reading or something 🤔

I have a 2009 F-150 FX4 Offroad edition and the FORSCAN tool, there is no BCM (BodyControlModule) on this truck, just the GEMS module and I cannot locate the parameter that needs adjusting. Does anyone know where it might be located on trucks with only a GEMS module

Alright it didn't work for me 2010 Ford f150 lariat but I bought the" vlinker USB"($30)and I installed forscan (free) on my laptop and I was able to find the codes
" DTCs in GEM/SJB: B106E-60, 82044-60" which detected short for stop and turn lamp I just reset the code and it works fine now.also I get no hyperflash since I had replaced the resistors thinking that was the issue prior to codes, but I get hyper flash on my right I guess I will change resistors as well
