Been making this for 30+ yrs. For smoothest flavor it must sit, jarred, for over a month!!! When freshly mixed with everclear it has a nasty bite to it. After a months rest it will be as smooth as Kool-aid. Also try pineapple juice with coconut for a mai tai flavored shine. Concoctions are endless!
About the Mai Tai flavored mix, is flake coconut placed in a pot and simmered like the spices in this video? Or is it a coconut flavored liquid? Could you please give the ratios?
@donmiller2908 I usually make a 5 gallon batches. Sorry to say I never measure. Been making batches for so long I just dump, pinch, and taste test. Tried many different coconut concoctions. Easiest way I've found is to use extract, while cooled down, to taste. Play around with it. Have fun and enjoy!!
Tried this recipe yesterday. I was confused about "bring it up to temperature" and "simmer for about an hour", because on the lowest setting on my gas cook top, it was impossible to keep the simmer going below 160 degrees without shutting off the gas. In the end, it turned out okay, but we had a metric ton of sediment in the jars--probably better I.m guessing if we let it sit for a few weeks in a cool-dry place, then strain out the excess cinnamon...Any thoughts you guys have are welcomed.

Lol, you need to update your recipe list. I took a screenshot of your recipe and went to the store and then started watching your video again and realized I didn’t have any brown sugar. 😂😂
@francesburt3111 Since there are natural fruit juices in this item is hard to say. If you want to store it longer, I would research preservatives that wouldn’t change the flavor profile. In my experience, it is SO good it doesn’t hang around long enough for that to be an issue!
@tedbullpit6164 Oh no! Just apple cider, it’s available in most grocery stores. Thank you for that question, if you asked that, I am sure others may have thought it. I am glad we got that cleared up!
Hey @SwampWaterInfusions thank you! Try it and let me know what you think back here in the comments! Go ahead and subscribe if you haven’t and thank you again if you did.
@ryantaylor8195 Thank you for the question, yes you are correct, there are ciders that contain alcohol, here in the US they are called Hard Ciders, like Strong Bow or Angry Orchard brands and are more like an Apple beer. I am referring to non-alcoholic cider that is more in line like a spiced apple juice. Does that help? Be sure to like, share and Subscribe!
@@BBPirateBar simple apple brandy...5 cans of concentrate and 6 pounds of sugar..champain yeast..after proofing to 90 add additional can of concentrate...let stand on med oak chips for a couple of weeks...last batch turned better than last...i used old orchard brand apple juice...CHEERS from Tennessee🇺🇸
@pamp5797 that is really personal choice. Some people like the extra cinnamon, some like less. It's like some people like pulp in their orange juice and some don't. It's really up to you!
2-bottles of 190proof Everclear, 2-bottles of Crown Royal apple, 2- bottles of Fireball cinnamon whiskey, 1qt. Mott's apple juice, 1qt. Mott's apple cider 😋 Drink Responsibility 😊☺️
It is great served over ice or straight from the fridge, or you could put it in a small pot on the stove at the low setting (under 120 degrees so you don’t burn anyone) as a hot drink, with the side benefit of a great smelling kitchen afterwards! Thanks for watching! P.S. Don’t forget a cinnamon stick to garnish the drink
This really depends on what the mash is intended for. Turbo yeast comes in bags, usually 1 bag for each 6-8 gallons of mash. EC-118 yeast is one small packet for each 6 gallons of must for wine. The amount of sugar depends on the recipe. Sugar shine requires considerably more sugar than a sour mash. I hope that helps. I've been looking for a good apple pie recipe and yours hits the mark!
@stephensano9156 Hope you enjoy!
Looks like good stuff and easy to make. I'm going to give this a shot! Thanks for sharing how to make this and all your info.

@rogerstaum9180 Give it a try, it's easy to make and easier to go down around a campfire.

Oh no! It’s funny that you forgot that, but you can always just use regular sugar in a pinch. I will update the video soon!
Oh what a good use for the canned peaches jars we get at Costco.
@pamp5797 Great idea! Pickle jars work well too.
I look forward to making this. What would the best way to warm this up to serve/drink?
Hey @wade_powell, sorry thought I had answered this, but warm it up in a pot on the stove (not too hot), this will also make the kitchen smell great!
Hahaha..love your joke..still LOL
Love this recipe and the presentation!

Hi when I looked up apple cider it comes up as apple cider (vinegar) is that right ?

Make sure the apple cider is the good stuff that’s being refrigerated
Awesome.

In New Zealand we have apple cider but it's alcoholic.what do you mean apple cider without alcohol?

Don't bet on it, my granny was born and raised in East Tennessee 😊
Mee too.
Just cooked off gallon and half of apple brandy yesterday❤🎉

OK question I hear Everclear that you need to let it sit for a good month so you don’t taste the alcohol
It does seem to rest when you let it sit in the fridge.
Oh so don't strain it before bottling it?

Buy potpourri bags and add 190😅

Educational question?
How much sugar and yeast do I add to a 15-gallon mash?
This really depends on what the mash is intended for. Turbo yeast comes in bags, usually 1 bag for each 6-8 gallons of mash. EC-118 yeast is one small packet for each 6 gallons of must for wine. Use ground clove
@timhughes5939 - good idea, just keep in mind this creates more sediment, so letting it "sit" for a while, then straining may be in order.
