Let me know what you would color first if you were gifted 36set of Prismacolors? Please share this video with other artists I was fortunate to get authentic prismas but this is not always the case! Check out your pencils if you are suspicious. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any! Ill do my best to answer! Lets keep fake art supplies out of the art community! :) here is the original how to spot fake prismas: th-cam.com/video/SyLS8MDnO08/w-d-xo.html
If I were gifted the prismacolors I would color a page in my Nouveau Fantasy magazine, probably a dragon! Then I'd try out different motives and themes to really get a feel for the pencils ^^
yea Amazon doesn't sell fake products at least I have not got any so if they are fake its probably the seller issue and you can let amazon know maybe they have some protocol about this.
To all those people who are worried about getting fakes just because they were considerably less expensive please remember that amazon prices vary widely and it is possible to find good products dirt cheap with the right timing. Obviously some people have gotten fakes or this wouldn’t be a thing, just don’t freak out when you see a good deal, be discerning.
Yes, this is very true! I have purchased many sets over the years and not had issues. Amazon has pretty good customer service as well. I think the problem of knock- offs is many items on amazon is more of a recent thing, since last year they started allowing anyone who wants to sell on Amazon in there (Fufillment program) any individual can sign up for a monthly fee and send amazon almost any item with a barcode for them to stock their warehouses and ship to buyers. Currently 70% of items are from that program not the companies or suppliers. Knockoffs and other issues continue to rise unfortunately. I personally no longer buy anything I put on my body or eat from amazon because of this. :) there are some really great online art stores that some times have deals too! Blick art materials has the 72 pack of prismas for $48 US and no chance of knockoffs since they buy directly from Newell/Prisma.
Plus you can just return them or report them as fake/not as described and Amazon will just refund you lol so theres really no reason to be dissuaded unless the seller absolutely 100% refuses to do returns but even then Amazon will usually step in and return ur money regardless.
Prismacolor prices fluctuates a lot. I see price variations on legit art supply stores as well. And I've seen fake products that charge full price, or even higher.
I worked for an art store for 14 years, and we never failed to have someone complain about the price of Prismacolor Pencils prices(even though we still ran them on sale.). The people who came back and re-bought them after buying them online usually said they were damaged or broken. I think this is much more the case on Amazon and online…they are so soft and easy to break, and once you break those, they can be really hard to get use out of. I have had success putting broken wax pencils in the microwave and remelting them, letting them cool before sharpening them again.
Opposite for me. I trust Amazon more. I will never buy fragile art supplies at art supply stores and I feel bad saying that because I should support local art stores but customers are awful. Kids play with things. The prismacolors I bought in stores have way more broken pencils than online on Amazon. Unless art supply stores want to store their fragile pencils in glass casings or something. Then I will continue to buy online. At least online I can blame shipping but for the most part they always do well. At stores it could be any customer being careless or their kids
STICKYArt Channel that is really bad...... in France we have too many sub sellers from China on amazon France. But I don’t think we have fake issues...... but then....... I’m not going to know 😖
I find almost unused sets of Prismacolors and other high end pencil crayons at our local thrift store for $5 or so...in the artists boxes that include accessories. There are also Prismacolors and other desirable pencil crayons sold in mixed bags of 100 or so for $2. Anyone can walk into a thrift store and for $25 walk out with $1000 worth of art supplies.
Damn, sounds like you've got some badass thrift stores in your area. Unfortunately there is only one thrift store within 100 mile radius of where i live and its a goodwill where everything is basically the exact same price as it was when brand new... goodwills here in Tx are honestly a scam. It always pisses me off lol for instance books, kitchenware, dinnerware etc are all sold at market prices or for the exact same price big box stores charge. If a cast iron skillet is $40 at bed bath and beyond, then it will be $40 at goodwill as well..
That’s unfortunate. I just realize that I wrote ‘pencil crayons’. In the USA you call them ‘coloured pencils’. My favourite pencil crayons have always been ‘‘Laurentien’ but we’re only available in Canada. I still get them at thrift stores
I got mine off the same Amazon seller, and they were definitely real after some comparison (and after watching this), but some of my pencils were very slightly banged up like yours, and one had cracked paint. I wonder if this is why they're cheaper - they were a lot sold off for having defects.
I bought a skin color set from Amazon. It was a true FAKE set. You have to keep or screen shot your orders, don't delete. The cores were skinny and they did not blend! They were oil pencils in disguise. Due to my proof, I did get another real set! Always check pencils upon recipe of them.
The wax internally may be off center, you can spot this by looking at the bottom of the pencil crayon. The logo/name on the pencil may be faded, out of place, or discoloured. The waxes may break much more easily due to the misalignment of the lead
@@ReptilesbyLynn Prismacolor often has some that are off center. And they're known to be easily breakable due to the very soft cores. Real prismacolors. Lol You have to be careful in sharpening due to this.
(english is not my first language so I'd like to apologize in advance) The wax is also smaller than the original and they have a different smell...The tin case illustration is also darker than the original.. When it comes to blending the pencils aren't as creamy as the original and the color turns muddy when you blend a lot of colors with each other...It's also hard to do dark to light colors...
I found on some of my "Prismacolor" pencils that the color number of the pencil is black not silver. I also noticed that the Prismacolor logo is printed the opposite direction (not facing the sharpened end) I'm sick to my stomach, got them from Amazon
@@debleb166, I find the barrel quality of Derwent awful. I used to have several sets, Studio, Artist, Coloursoft, etc. and all the barrels started to split after a while. Plus, the paint started to peel, some of them already peeled on arrival ... bad, especially because they're not cheap.
I've had Prismacolors for a while, and when I needed a new set, I decided to get a bigger one. (I decided on the 36 count.) I couldn't find the 36 count in store, so I went to Amazon. I saw the set on sale for about 10 dollars! It's been I while since I bought the set on Amazon, and I didn't worry since they work REALLY well. Now I'm a little suspicious. Anyway, I hope they're not fake, but next time I'm sticking with Michael's! Edit: I watched your video and I have that same 2020 set with the butterfly. It's the exact same seller on Amazon, only mine were on sale at the time. Since you compared them to the Michael's set, and they appear nearly exactly the same, I am a *bit* more confident than I was before in their genuineness. Thanks for making this video!
hey! i am new in the world of art and i have a question. Is Michaels the best site to purchase prismacolor? Or is Michaels the owner of prismacolor then?
@@skilzzln5259 Michael's is a good site to get them on because it's a reputable retailer, just like any other art supply store. Blick's, Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics..they all carry Prismacolor supplies, and buying it from them is pretty much a guarantee for not buying fakes. But when the price is good on Amazon, sometimes you just want to take the chance, haha.
If they work really well what are you worried about since you got such a good price and you like them??? Paying more money for something doesn’t always mean it’s the best.
I have two 72 sets and they are somewhat different because one is made in Mexico which a lot of people complained because the core and the wood are lower quality. The other set is made in USA and is much better. You can see the difference when you sharpen them.
@@STICKYArt do u recommend to get prismacolor at Michael's? Amazon seemed legit since the reviews are about 20,000+. It's impossible amazon let it slipped through. Please help guide to get a new prismacolor premiere.
@@arolemaprarath6615 To guarantee authenticity buying at a local art store is your best bet! Amazon you are dealing with mainly private sellers/ resellers so there is a possibility of fakes . I don't think fakes are super common but If you do have issues with product from amazon it can be returned within their return period.
I think people just need to be careful when buying from an Amazon seller to find out who the seller is. I am a regular customer of Amazons, sometimes more than once a week. I usually do a Google Map search of the seller's address, using the satellite option, so I can see whether or not the seller has an established business or not. I can't see Amazon selling fakes intentionally but it is up to the buyer - caveat emptor.
No need to worry! This video is to just make arists aware of the issue! If you suspect anything when they come feel free to refer to this video for reference. Amazon and Prismacolor ar satisfaction guaranteed! :) If you ever recieve faulty product from amazon return it for a full refund. :)
Hi! I ordered a pack of 72 colors and compared them to my original 24 pack. It's completely the same(the texture and the pigment, color etc.) But the only difference was that the 72 pack pencil was not cut in half but rather drilled into. What do i do?
Whaaaat I'm so confused I've been looking at amazon throughout the last couple months to see if prismacolors would decrease in price but it hasn't moved at all from $52 on the 72 pack I wonder why our prices are so different
Feels like every set I got just kept getting worse in quality! The wax & colors are wonderful but why have uncentered cores, much smaller than some I got 6 years ago! What are they using for wood (wood shavings off the floor “repressed)! Watched a video of how actual Prisma’s are made in factory in Mexico & they are not treated with the care we do with them & they do not care (called actual mini CEO who said, “We don’t need to fix anything because ppl keep buying them no matter of quality!! Now I really do not trust their company but many with hand issues need softer pencils & they know it! Anyone selling “dumpster” products should be banned off Amazon permanently.. Ty for this video but I can’t prove if mine are counterfeit because maybe never got actual real ones (got all from Amazon directly)?????
Some recents posted a 150 set. The printing on the ‘fake’ pencils was better. There was a white under all coats on the pencils. This white under coat is on all cheap pencils. The pencil sizes were different too.
My boyfriend gifted me a 150 set from Amazon. I haven’t used them yet but I’m suspicious because the set was around $95 on Amazon and double that cost on Michael’s website. 🧐 They aren’t Amazon’s choice but they are Prime eligible and sponsored.
I was looking into getting my first full 150 set off Amazon soon. I'll definitely have to look them them over good as soon as I get them! Thank you for posting this video!
I ordered mine from Blick. It was a while ago (like 6 years lol) but I got the 132 for like $60. I can’t speak on if their in-store prices are the same since we don’t have Blick stores in TX, but Blick online is better than Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. So much cheaper without needing a coupon.
Man i cant seem to find the 150 set anymore on amazon or ebay aside from korea tf. I might just get fabre castell instead since i cant buy the 150 set in Uk anymore
Do fakes still work well? Im not sure if mine are real or fake, they look more real than fake but inside the package there was little black hairs inside, like very short little hairs :(
So I've checked my order history, because I felt suspicious about my Prismacolor pencils: When still in my order history overview the seller is listed as QUIKOI, clicking on the listing itself however states that it's being sold by OMG Sales in 3 Yoel Klein Blvd in New York. If you check the adress out on Google Streetview, it's just an apartment building :/
my amazon set smells more wood like than one i bought instore. and the amazon ones feel more fragile and light. everything else matches like it does in this video but I'm still skeptical. I've had the 150 amazon set for about a year so i probably cant take them back. i just hate the thought of there being a possibility they're fake and my art wont be as good.
Most likely the wood smell and difference in feel is a problem with the wood supply in the world the trees are cut earlier and the wood takes longer to dry. This causes the pencil barrels to split more often .
Hi! Thank you for the video. I ordered the 150 set from Amazon Mexico on Prime day (Amazon was the seller and I live in Mexico) but then I heard all those claims about counterfeit and I'm a little worried. Some of the pencils don't have "Mexico" stamped on them (and in a couple cases it's very very hard to see)- do you think that's a problem? A couple also have chipped paint on the outside where the silver writing is, in some cases almost the whole way down the pencil (only 2-3 out of the 150). The cores look like your video. The colours (IMO) look nice and feel smooth, but I'm definitely not an expert. Sorry for the questions. Thank you!
Hello amazon is a authorized reseller. On all authentic sets I have the paint is slightly chipped and about 3 to 4 the Mexico imprint is light som almost non existent. I think it is just a decrease in manufacturing quality unfortunately. I have not personally had problems with them. If they blend well it seems like they are authentic to me.
@@STICKYArt thank you for the reply! 😊 You've honestly made me feel better 😂. I don't have alot of experience to judge them, but IMO they blend beautifully.
I recently ordered a set of cheap orionstar coloured pencils 72 for $40 (plus there was a $5 coupon so $35). The picture on amazon shows the pencils looking similar to castle art pencil crayons (black with dipped ends) HOWEVER when i received them it was all prismas inside the case. I'm 99.9% certian theyre fake but i dont really care because they perform pretty well. I dont have real ones to compare them too as i dont feel like spending over $100 on pencils when i just like to colour in books once inawhile and not an artist.
I also just received the same set. I compared them to my authentic Prismacolors and I can definitely say without a shadow of a doubt that they are definitely fake. They perform okay, but I’ll be returning them since I was expecting the ones pictured in the ad. I’m happy they work well for you. Enjoy! 😊
I do not recommend using non authentic art supplies. Many are produced without safety regulations and commonly contain highly toxic pigment because it’s cheaper to make colors from and typically the performance is not as good.
I bought a 150 pack of Prismacolors along with the skin tone ones. They are my first ever colored pencils outside of Crayola as well. When I bought mine, I made sure that they were fulfilled by Amazon and was sold by Amazon/the Prismacolor store. I feel like mine are legit, however I noticed that some of the pencils don’t have “Mexico” pressed onto them. I wonder if I happen to have a set that just has some older pencils, or if those are fake.
In my experience some of the larger sets the Mexico stamp is missing on a few pencils. I don’t think it means they are fake just not the best quality assurance.
@@STICKYArt I think that Prismacolors have some quality issues. One of the pencils has a barcode and UPC even though the entire box passes the “legit” tests. I even purchased my box through Amazon itself and not an Amazon 3rd party seller.
I bought a 36 set from Sam's Club. Thought I had a good deal for 19.99 plus a free double ended Prisma black marker. Now after seeing this I believe they are fake. Too many are off set, and the pencils crack sharpening them.
They are most likely legitimate. Sam’s/Walmart are authorized retailers for Prismacolor. Of the 36 packs I got almost all of them had 5-6 pencils offset. Are the cores breaking or the actual wood pencil? If the cores/pigment are breaking on you often two main issues could be a dull or cheap sharpener or damage to the cores from dropping or possible defect.
To me, it looks like factory rejects. When factories make mistakes in products. They will sell them at auctions, etc. It makes me so mad when stores do it here. They even do it to grocery stores and cheap stores and sell it to them for cheap and the local stores will resell them. Or all of a sudden the local store will have this sale of shipment they just received for really cheap. If you look. It's because they are flawed. Sadly. They do it to our food. Makes me so mad. Especially when you stop at the local deli because you don't feel like going into the grocery store and the loaf of bread is sliced lopsided or too thin. I believe it's the same principle you're looking at. Where the prices were cheap. They looked like the real thing, but things were off or damage. Meaning. They didn't make the grade.
I think this most likely the case for a majority of the prismacolor sets I have gotten since making the video. I wish sellers had to be more upfront about selling sets with known defects.
@@STICKYArt The thing is though. For people who can't afford the higher quality brands. It may be good to look for flawed ones of that brand that are damaged as you see in the ones you have. There may be damage to the product because of factory line went out of wack. But you may still get the same quality in texture and color. (of course, if that line didn't get messed up also.)
It would be pretty hard to sell fakes if they are reprinting in the companys name and passing it off as their brand. It is illegal and if they are caught they can get in a lot of trouble. Amazon has protections against that. It can be reported. People can sell fakes as fakes or "like" that product. If they present it that way and not by the companys brand. Maybe you should think about doing a video for finding cheap damaged art supplies that are name brands for people who can't afford the higher quality but get the same effects.
If you get ahold of prismacolor instead they wont make you return them. Just send photo evidence of the damage or defects as well as proof of purchase from a certified seller (amazon is one) and they just replace it. I went through this when i got a set of verithins and a few were just shattered internally. I asked for replacements of the four colours and they sent me a whole new box. Their customer service is great.
I saw on the Amazon website then selling prismacolors, and the package picture was a full on safari theme with a tiger and all the scholar pencil crayons saying it’s prismacolor
Scholar is another kind of Prismacolor. They have different grades. Scholar is the cheaper grade. They're good, but not lile the Premier which is their high grade.
I bought the 150 prismacolor premier soft core pencils. I thought they were oil based but I see they are wax based. I checked the back of the box and it does say Newell on the bottom corner so felt a bit of relief. However, on opening the box of pencils I have discovered before even using them I have counted approximately 9 pencils that are damaged. These are cracked from the bottom to the top and I can fit my nail in the cracks. I also have one pencil that has had the lower end at the lead point all squashed. I feel a bit confused about this and whether they are real? its the pack with the new butterfly on the front. Should I be concerned as they cost $220 nz money.
If they are cracked on arrival I would see about them being replaced! Especially for the price. Sometimes minor cracks happen but big ones too to bottom on the pencil the core can get lose over time.
@@STICKYArt Thank you! As a professional artist I am disappointed to see this damage and even worse, as you said about the core itself, I tried my white to see what may happen. I sharpened manually and on use the core keeps breaking! ughghhhh.... so inconvenient and annoying when I have commissions to do.
Prismacolor are very expensive here in Europe. I just found some good deals at Ebay for the 150 set from $113 euros to $280 but I'm really afraid to buy them not knowing if the cheapest ones are legit. The Amazon where I usully buy for years with free delivery only have one seller asking $450 euros for the 150 set. I guess that I must to research a little more. Any tips are welcomed !
Very true! Also there are sellers selling known for selling “seconds” online through eBay and Amazon. Many of the products are bought in large lots and the resellers are selling know defective or product not up to Q & A standards. I think it’s best to buy locally from a store that is reputable and provides a return policy for defective product is the ideal option to avoid any issues.
Hi. Wow you went in depth. Thank you. What would I color first? I've heard they work wonderfully on sliced wood pieces......so I'd color on a wood piece.
i just bought prismacolours from amazon out of my birthday money but im scared if they are fake bc some reviews say they believe they are and others are saying they arent fake
If you have Prismacolor Premiers that break, get an electric helical sharpener or a $3-4 Kum hand sharpener (made in Germany). PPs that broke almost all the way down sharpened to a point when I used the new sharpener. All the pencils in that box sharpened without breakage using the new sharpener. The problem wasn’t the pencil, it was the sharpener. Also used an electric helical sharpener on a new 150 box of Prismacolors. No tips were lost that I remember.
If you go to their website you will be able to see that Amazon is on the list of their authorized retailers. I had the same concern since the 150 set costs $250 in Costa Rica, so I contacted Prismacolor support and they assured me that the ones being sold in Amazon are the original ones 🤔.
Almost all on amazon are real! Due to private sellers using fulfilled by amazon there is a small chance one may be selling fakes. There have been issues with fakes that started dec 2019 when amazon opened up the fulfillment program.
To be completely honest after seeing how close the knockoff prismacolors on aliexpress look I only buy my art supplies from and a well known retail store (I go to Michael’s art store and another independently owned art store for all my supplies now! )
So after the whole comparison, these 2 boxes are real? I was thinking how close the fakes seemed.. until the swatch looked identical too. sigh. i thought it was a comparison between real and fake
i have purchased 3 sets of the 150 Prismacolor pencils from amazon, none of them have Mexico stamp on them...butter creamy no white under the paint the wood is the same as the open stock ones i buy with the barcode....all points are the short sharper ''prisma color" sharp point....paint does not scratch off...so not really sure what to say about if they are real or fake..
I just bought 150 prismacolour from Amazon and the quality is shocking for the price, I can't tell If they are fakes or not because I have seen a lot of people say prismacolour quality are crap to what they used to be.
a question i genuinely have, does it matter if the tin has newell or sanford on it ? could it indicate they are fake or real ? so far i’ve seen nothing talking about it but if i buy prismacolors from amazon with the seller being amazon.com would they no doubt be authentic or could they still be fake ?
Thank you so much. I am in the process of improving my color techniques and i was about to but a 20 dollar 40 something pack. You are a life savior thank you so much!!!!
Hi! I know this is old but I didn’t want to ask under your most recent since it’s not relevant to that other video. I just got my PCP (lol-sry) pencils in and haven’t taken them outta box becuz I had ordered 2 white open stock all from Michaels. My problem is I don’t see the stamp where they were made, you said on the Barrell and I’ve had my son look he’s 9 and had better eyes than me but neither of us see it. Does the white have it too or is it just the colors? Tia
There should be a stamp on the barrel to the left of the word prismacolor near the sharpened end if sharpened. I have gotten open stock replacement white pencils before and all of them have had the imprint “Mexico” on it. It is small and hard to see but you can run a finger nail on it and feel it.
Tbh I don't care if it's fake or real I just care if it works as the same as the real ones do , why would I waste my money on real ones if the fake ones do the work as same as the real ones
One of the most important reasons to buy legitimate art supplies is so that you know that you are not getting toxic materials. Many of these knock offs look very similar however do not have follow safety requirements/regulations. You could be unknowingly exposing yourself to chemicals, lead and other toxins that could have a very bad affect on your health. Also, legitimate supplies are tested to hold up over time vs knockoffs may be more likely to fade or have issues.
Just personally I think they are the same me and my friend both have the colored pencils she got the ones from Michaels and I got mine my Amazon and she took mine home because it looked just like her pencils

I have bought multiple sets from Amazon and michaels, both came and were authentic. However there is a chance due to the fact most of Amazon’s products come from people selling through amazon using the fulfillment program they have (any one can become a seller) you could end up with fakes if there are any issues it is pretty easy to return them. Another thing to look out for is on michaels website you can sign up for emails from them they have 20% to 50% off coupons weekly!

Is a fake Prisma color pencil in other words counterfeit? Not a real pencil at all but just stamped Prismacolor. Where do they come from if they are fake?
It's baffles me how Prismacolor can't provide their own online store to prevent fakes from being sold like this. They aren't exactly a small company, it shouldn't be a problem for them. It also sucks for people like me who don't live in the US, Amazon is the only available place for me to buy Prismacolors, and the majority of sellers on there still dont ship outside of the US anyway. It's impossible for me to find Prismacolors that aren't fake, that ship internationally, and aren't overcharging for them. I'm seeing other people only spend $52 on a 72 pack, and $14 for a 12 pack. But my only option is spending $21.70 and $8 shipping. That's almost 30 dollars for 12 pencils... :/ For the 36 piece, shipping is 70 fucking dollars.
That’s awful!!! Depending on where you are there may be other pencil brand options not marked up so much due to shipping. I once shipped a set of 72 Prismacolors to a giveaway winner in Europe and it cost me $28 to ship including all the fees!!! Plus the cost of the set $36. The shipping was almost the same as the pencils!
This was more of a problem a few years ago, Amazon has put some added limits more recently on who can sell and provide product. You can definitely use these as a reference of what to expect. Feel free to ask any further questions if you have any when they come!
I bought 72 pack on Amazon and just got them. I'm confused because pencils are great, but the core looks so cheap, like the paint on pencil's base has not that good quality as I expected it to be, so I don't know if I waisted a lot of money or it's okay
I have been waiting for so long to get prisma colour pencil crayons for Christmas and sadly it is fake.😔 That would be my only Christmas present so now I have to wait another month to get them.
So on amazon the 72 pack comments are saying fake but the ones you ordered said fake too when you were drawing with your hand di they feel super fake like are they still good?...

Thats crazy if amazon is allowing fakes to be sold. Glad your bringing awareness to this topic! 🔥
They definitely have a problem... Here is the documentary on Amazon selling Used items found in the garbage!

I just bought a 72 set from Amazon and they’re coming next week, let’s hope they’re not fake.
were they fake?
It was fake?
Were they fake?
Are they fake?????I'm getting one for Christmas
Were they?
Any possibility they're not "fakes" so much as someone selling the failed batches instead of destroying them?
Mine were real too
Same, I actually got two boxes of 130+ pack of Amazon and they are definitely real, 10/10
I bought a skin color set from Amazon. It was a true FAKE set. You have to keep or screen shot your orders, don't delete. The cores were skinny and they did not blend! They were oil pencils in disguise. Due to my proof, I did get another real set!
Always check pencils upon recipe of them.
“How to spot fakes” So, how do we spot fakes?? Almost Every point you said something like... “it can be...”. Im still not clear...”
(english is not my first language so I'd like to apologize in advance)
The wax is also smaller than the original and they have a different smell...The tin case illustration is also darker than the original..
When it comes to blending the pencils aren't as creamy as the original and the color turns muddy when you blend a lot of colors with each other...It's also hard to do dark to light colors...
@@ReptilesbyLynn the leads in the prisma colours are off center anyway, that's why the pencils break badly so you can't use that as a comparison
I found on some of my "Prismacolor" pencils that the color number of the pencil is black not silver. I also noticed that the Prismacolor logo is printed the opposite direction (not facing the sharpened end) I'm sick to my stomach, got them from Amazon
How to spot a fake Prismacolor: if the cores are perfectly centred, they can’t be the real thing 😂
And that's why I buy Derwent 😌
@@debleb166, I find the barrel quality of Derwent awful. I used to have several sets, Studio, Artist, Coloursoft, etc. and all the barrels started to split after a while. Plus, the paint started to peel, some of them already peeled on arrival ... bad, especially because they're not cheap.
@@leonnehaaijman4709 Weird, all the Derwent products I've used have been very good quality, bar one sketchbook which erased very poorly.
Just like real Nike vs fake Nike that made in Putian in China lol
Leonne that is soooo true! ROFL!! =oD
Ac Moore also sold the 36 set for $10 like a couple Christmas’s ago
thanks for the update!!!
hey! i am new in the world of art and i have a question.
They unfortunately stopped USA production of Prismacolor years ago as well as slightly changed the pencil formula to be slightly softer.
@@STICKYArt do u recommend to get prismacolor at Michael's? Amazon seemed legit since the reviews are about 20,000+. It's impossible amazon let it slipped through.

@@arolemaprarath6615 To guarantee authenticity buying at a local art store is your best bet! Amazon you are dealing with mainly private sellers/ resellers so there is a possibility of fakes . @@arolemaprarath6615 I bought my from Blicks. They were cheaper than Micheals.

Hi! I ordered a pack of 72 colors and compared them to my original 24 pack. It's completely the same(the texture and the pigment, color etc.) But the only difference was that the 72 pack pencil was not cut in half but rather drilled into. What do i do?
It mmmmm look close if the my were drilled then they are fake. I would contact seller and request refund
If I have this set, I would try and see how the white colored pencil works.
I still can't believe that it really does work
Whaaaat I'm so confused I've been looking at amazon throughout the last couple months to see if prismacolors would decrease in price but it hasn't moved at all from $52 on the 72 pack I wonder why our prices are so different
They're $43 now!!
@@HayMonchy Thank you! I got one awhile ago with a gift card so it came out even less for me
Check Amazon warehouse...they're usually cheaper
What about the ones sold by Amazon AU, Amazon UK or Amazon US? Or would the actual company not themselves sell fakes on their own site?
My boyfriend gifted me a 150 set from Amazon. I haven’t used them yet but I’m suspicious because the set was around $95 on Amazon and double that cost on Michael’s website. 🧐 They aren’t Amazon’s choice but they are Prime eligible and sponsored.
i got the same set for $17 and they were actually real! i was super suprised and very happy.
I also ordered mine from Blicks. Micheals is selling the 72 for $25.00 more than Blick,
Man i cant seem to find the 150 set anymore on amazon or ebay aside from korea tf. I might just get fabre castell instead since i cant buy the 150 set in Uk anymore
Do fakes still work well? Im not sure if mine are real or fake, they look more real than fake but inside the package there was little black hairs inside, like very short little hairs :(
Maybe a defect
So I've checked my order history, because I felt suspicious about my Prismacolor pencils:
When still in my order history overview the seller is listed as QUIKOI, clicking on the listing itself however states that it's being sold by OMG Sales in 3 Yoel Klein Blvd in New York.
@@ItsGlynda i actually ordered them again and got the ones in the ad. Theyre very very soft.
My prisma pencils tips keep breaking could be why?
I got a box of Prismacolor technique level 1 at Walmart, idk if they’re fake or not but I don’t really care as long as they work fine.

Another thing to look out for is on michaels website you can sign up for emails from them they have 20% to 50% off coupons weekly!

same just did were they ??
For the 36 piece, shipping is 70 fucking dollars.
That’s awful!!! Depending on where you are there may be other pencil brand options not marked up so much due to shipping. I once shipped a set of 72 Prismacolors to a giveaway winner in Europe and it cost me $28 to ship including all the fees!!! Plus the cost of the set $36. The shipping was almost the same as the pencils!
at the Micheals in Canada where I live in Nova Scotia...Prismacolor pencil crayons can be up to 3.00/pencil
Prismacolor are also available in Canada and Mexico.
@@arolemaprarath6615 So north america lol
My dad is actually ordering some prismas from Amazon and now that I see this this makes me worried 😟
This was more of a problem a few years ago, Amazon has put some added limits more recently on who can sell and provide product. You can definitely use these as a reference of what to expect. Feel free to ask any further questions if you have any when they come!
@@STICKYArt oh ok tysm this video is very helpful and so is ur comment :) ty again
Well if they are fake when they arrive may send them back
I bought an £80 worth of prismacolour pencils and turns out THEY WERE FAKE and they are not offering refunds :(
That’s terrible!
Thanks for sharing, I adore my Prismacolors, but their quality control is really bad. I’ve had a few with terrible wood. I still love them though
Some of mine dont have Mexico stamped in the Side, are they Fake?
I had a few in each of my sets that were not imprinted much. Out of 150 pack maybe 3 -4
@@STICKYArt OK so Mine are probably Not real i have 36 and 13 of them have No Mexico imprinted at all and some of the remaining have a very light Mexico imprinted which can be Seen directly under bright light.
And i am 28 and have a very good Vision, so no blind old man haha
@@STICKYArt thank you for your Response:D
@@manuelmenapace6839 It could just be faulty equipment lining/ poor quality control. If you don't mind me asking where did you purchase them from?
@@STICKYArt i purchased Them from amazon
So what are the key points to look for if you did order them from Amazone? Because in my country Belgium it's the only way to get them through orders from Amazon.
I point out all the main points in the video! From the packaging to the quality assurance stamp in smudges and core size. If you order them you can compare them to the ones in the video! Best of luck!
You can try my link in the video description but I’m not sure if it will direct you to them if you are in another country. The 72 pack is on sale for $48 IS dollars currently! 50% off!
@@STICKYArt ok tank you i just got them so I'm gonna go through the video again! Thanks!
Those little stubby points seem original. This other TH-camr’s set were all sharpened to a long point.
Which one is better for Prisma Color pencils ? Amazon or Michaels Store?
Do you know where I can buy open stock single prismacolor pencils in the uk ?
I have the 72 count soft core pencils from Amazon. I noticed in mine, some pencils have the Mexico imprint and some don’t? Has anyone else had the same issue with official pencils or is it just me?
So should I buy prismacolor from Amazon !?
Amazon has worked well for me (they are typically cheapest price on their)) but there is a small chance you can get knock-off product from individuals that sell on their using the fullfilled by amazon. If you had an issue returns/customer service are easy on amzon. There are also retail stores that carry prisma color if you want to avoid amazon. Target, hobby lobby, michaels, joans, walmart, and blick.
I love tlou ll!!!
Um. Wanting to buy a set fro. Amazon now not sure...
What do you do if u get fakes though?? :(
Refund maybe?
And also are cheap joes art stuff real or fake sorry for the questions
I have not heard of them personally.
I have bought fake ones from this art store :(
Cheap Joe's should have legitimate products.
