I remember toying with the silver and gold (Crayola) crayons as a kid. Even at age 5, I was disgusted at the blue tones visible in the silver. Seems to be only paints that deliver metallics well.
that’s the same with me as a kid with crayola markers in the black shade, as I grew up I always hated how it was just a really dark blue and it kinda steered me away from coloring in general unless it was my only option ( I was a picky child I guess😂😂)
I agree about them being like oil paints. I've been asked if my drawings are paintings. I tell them no, I did it with colored pencils. Their mouths drop and ask me what brand. I happily tell them Prismacolors. I have the sharpener as well. I have another one by them as well. I have the 132 set and its amazing.
@@Theforeveraloneguy I will get 72 instead so if I don't want to buy singles I'll just buy a cheaper amount and stick with those colors in pc. Also you will have extra pencils.
@@shartybae9297 I have not had any issues yet! I recommend using the sharpener for the prisma pencils only (No graphite, other type of pencils) to avoid dulling the blades. Dull sharpener = lots of unnecessary breakage!

I love playing with blending my prisms color pencils. Sometimes I get so caught up with that it leaves little time for the actual coloring. But I get some lovely ideas of what to create when I do get back to coloring.
So for anyone who may be wondering I have have been working with these pencils for 4+ years you definetly dont need there sharpener I use a simple hand sharpener that you would use for eyeliner works very well
Yes any sharpener with a good blade will work! I have been using the Prisma brand one for 2 years and it has held up well! I have some older prisma premiers that are from 10 years ago that have more issues sharpening than the two newer sets of 72 that I have.

Hi, I am wondering if I should get the 48 or the 72... I don't want to spend a lot of money on colored pencils, but I still want to be able to have more colors to color portraits. Also drawing is just a hobby for me.
If drawing is a hobby and you enjoy doing it regularly, I recommend getting the 150 set, it’ll give you lots more freedom and options to experiment with if it’s a particular colour you’re looking for

I need to know from poeple who already have prismacolor pencils, does a normal sharpener work for them, or do you have to have the one who's specific for them??
Çarli thë Plant do not use electric sharpers, but if you have a decent sharpener with a sharp blade will work! Cheaper plastic and dull blades will cause extra breakage.
I'm still deciding on which one to buy, prismacolor or polychromos. They're bot on sale for similar prices, but then again that's bcus polychromos are on 75% discount and there are only 2 left. I really need help on deciding which one to buy. This video helped a lot in understanding how prismacolors worked, thanks a lot!
Faber Castell Polychromos are slightly higher grade and typically double the cost... (When I bought 72pack prisma it was $40 shipped Vs 72 polchromos for 75$) If you can get them for about the same I would go with Polychromos. They are artist grade and the pigment does not fade, prisma does fade a little over time. Also build quality on the chromos are better (thicker barrel) Prismas are a little brighter, other than that they are pretty similar.
I just bought a set of these thinking they were non toxic. Once I got them and then the box over the first thing i see is a warning about the gold pencil containing copper and to be sure to wash your hand after using. Now I'm not sure I even want to use any of them. Being they were all packed together are they all contaminated with copper now. I was so excited about these pencils I got a small set just to see if I liked them and did then went ahead and bought the larger set. Huh!
MWHEELUS70 the gold will not contaminate other pencils. There are very small amounts of it in the wax to create a glitter like reflection. Do not eat of course but normal use of it is fine as it is bound to the wax. Also use a blender stick not fingers.
Oh good! Thank you. I've just now gotten in to color pencils. I'm taking care of my 97 year old grandmother and she likes it quiet. These pencils have been a sanity saver for me. Great for landscape drawings.thanks again!
With a good sharpener there should be no issues. Prisma premiers are soft core pencils are more likely to have tips break if they are mishandled (dropped) or sharpened with a dull sharpener blade.
Printer paper they work okay... printer paper does not have enough texture to be able to properly layer and blend. I will make a quick video showing the difference side by side.
Prismas stay in place pretty well! If you carry your sketchbook around and the pages rub it can potentially transfer to the back of the page next to it. I keep my art stored on a shelf and have not had any issues!
