Installing M240i & M235i USDM Lower Grille Inserts

- It's the little things that make the difference. Ever since the first time I saw a US Delivered M235i, I thought the front end looked much cleaner without the blades in the grilles.
It turns out you can buy the genuine part relatively cheaply on eBay, so I decided to have a crack at it!

Never realized they were different for cars outside the U.S. Just got my m235i this past weekend and absolutely love it. Just changed the grill to the black m performance kidney grills yesterday!

Thanks !!! I had to remove a bezel on a 330 GT and your technique worked beer and all. You got to get a little mad at it and pry and pull !
Totally agree the US Spec grilles look much better. I ordered a set for my AUS delivered M240i. The grey fin just makes the front look too busy

What front lip is that installed. Love the simplistic design. All the ones I’ve been finding for my M235i are are too much and this is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Can the other side have another intercooler?
It’s an oil cooler. Not an intercooler. No reason you couldn’t add a second cooler if you wanted to.
I actually like the ones with the blade more, anybody know the part number?

This was the hardest thing to get off when I put the front splitter on my car...drove me nuts haha.

It's really interesting/confusing to me that BMW only gave the USDM cars the secondary oil coolers. Wonder why that is.
It’s to do with the difference in climate. But you’d think we’d have it here in Australia!
You might think....but the weather in most of Europe is identical to the US. Spain is similar to California, Germany is very similar to New York. Not much difference between them.

I'm pretty sure that's an auxiliary radiator not oil cooler 🤔
I have an 2016 m235i and it has an oil cooler on the passenger side and a auxiliary cooler on the driver side I have m pakage I guess

Sounds like they’re mistaken. They definitely don’t fit the M2. Double check the images on google for the part numbers you’re ordering to make sure.

They’re available on eBay. Not sure where this one came from specifically though as it was once he car when I bought it.
Every American will want the Euro grills. Hahahaha! All the Europeans will want the simpler cleaner looks.
I agree although it’s much cleaner look. I need to get the M Sport all black grills for mine. Getting sick of the chrome. The chrome doesn’t look bad in grey on edges. The 435 grill is absolutely hideous. Not sure what BMW was smoking with that. Huge chrome notch right into the headlight ugly as hell.
Certain colors definitely impact the car. And the grill you have on it. That’s something to consider too. Gray dosent look half bad with chrome.
Kristopher Sullivan lol yeah, being American, was looking for how some had that splitter in the lower grilles, thought it definitely looked better
The silver splitters make the car look meaner imo, the all black easily gets lost, especially since its recessed a bit so it’s dark in that area
Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought you sold/are selling your MX5 because of financial issues but you have an M235i? Just has me confused, no offence intended. Nice video regardless.
spodz spodz I sold the MX5 because I couldn’t justify spending $6000+ on turbocharging it after receiving a large tax bill, and had completed everything else I wanted to do with it. The MX5 was purchased purely as a project car to make content for the channel, but the videos didn’t do as well as I had hoped so it was better to sell it to fund other projects.
I bought the M235i after selling my BRZ in 2016. I’ve considered selling it but it’s depreciated so much in the last year I’ve owned it that it would be like pouring money down the toilet. Plus I still need a daily driver.
Fair enough, was just curious. Will be sad to see no more MX5 videos
