    can't believe how you can be so receptive to new cultures, making himself at home wherever he goes. always at the center of action, i have been staying in abroad for 10 years but still feel distant to the local culture, what a guy!

      He is quite good at that but also the fact that he is white helps a lot in societies like india because people go out of the way to attend to him, explain to him, show him and help him which is good. But to be truthful it comes from our mindset that whites are superior which is due to our colonial past.
      But regardless, he is going a good job, I must say

      Indian, Pakistani and Bengali weddings are pretty much very similar. Just different formal rituals. Even the most religious Pakistani families maintain the desi lifestyle when it comes to weddings. I know that if there were no borders i could comfortably survive in the villages and towns of India but i headed the other way towards the middle east it would be an alien culture and language. We are only separated by religion. Everything else is pretty much the same.

    Karl ur Hindi is amazing. We seldom see a foreigner speaking our mother tongue with so much confidence.
    Now a days its a fashion, more of a 'status quo' to speak in English. My niece can recite Wordsworth's 'Daffodils' (poem) but would find it highly difficult to recite a poem in Hindi.
    English is probably more close to her than her own mother tongue. Which is pretty weird...
    Anyways you are a true inspiration for such pseudo intellectuals.
    Keep it up.

    • @yck16

      Calling your Niece a pseudo-intellectual, way to go bruv! The sole purpose of language is to aid in communication and your "Niece" is intelligent enough not to append any more significance to it. English is much more valuable than Hindi in the great wide world. Get over it.

    • @_yuri
      @_yuri 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Human Being it is first language of a few million people I know you are being hyperbolic but even 1 percent is 10 million it will be more common for families where English is only language or mother and father both have different mutual languages so English is lingua baba.

      English is easier than most Indian languages.the North understands Hindi.the South understand English.It is impossible to know all the Indian languages.I am fluent in all three languages ,better in English and Hindi than my mother tongue Bengali.but rabindranath Tagore's poem inspire me more than any other poetry because Bengali is closer to my heart than my mind.

    In my state, Nagaland, minimum wedding guests will be around 500( considered as a small wedding) and maximum would be 4000. No dowry from the bride to the groom. Men and women are treated as equal. Mostly love marriages happen. And parents usually encourage their children( male or female)for pursuing higher education, unless the children are lazy and dull in studies. Like you can get married when your feel it is right to do. No pressure to do it early nor is it weird here to stay unmarried. And the best thing about a wedding or a marriage party in Nagaland is that the wedding guests either give cash or gifts to the new couple. Even if the invitees could not attend the wedding, they would send cash envelope through someone attending the wedding. Nobody goes empty handed to the wedding party. So yes, the newly married couple do start their new life with loads of cash. Do try to attend a wedding in Nagaland. I love watching your videos. It's nice to learn other culture and people's life from your videos .

    'Nikah' is the solemnization ceremony. In Islam it's not required to throw receptions, but you can do it based on customs. The idea is that a marriage shouldn't be made hard for people, especially those ones who can't afford to throw receptions. But it's also not wrong to throw receptions as it can be seen as an act of charity by way of feeding people (just make sure to not produce a lot of wastage. If there is excess food, pack it, and let the guests take them home). Hope this helps you understand a little bit more about Muslim weddings.

    Namaste Karl from Nepal! I have been visiting India since the past 4 years. My 1st visit was for my fathers medical treatment when I didn't know a much around though we are neighboring countries and have fluid borders. My advantage was I knew and understood 80% of Hindi but still a foreign face is a foreign face. Not matter how many times you are around there is a scam at every corner but none the less there are friendly hands too. I hope in your videos you will be able to capture this essence too. Like this video. The point of my comment is to let you know that I really enjoy your videos and gain a more confidence in saying " Nahi bhaiya, mujhe nahi chahiye" because sometimes I do get intimidated because I am in a new country. Best wishes for your ventures and hope you will come too Nepal... the birth place of Gautam Buddha and Mt. Everest! Cheers!

    To all those sweet people in the comment section telling this Muslim marraige is inspired by Hindu wedding.. Actually you should understand that we just changed our religion not our cultural identity.. We are not inspired by hindus it's just traditional Indian culture which we follow.. Otherwise a typical islamic marraige don't take even an hour to complete ❤

    Actually the joote churai system was from UP Hindu wedding but in early 90s Mr.Barjatiya made it famous by showcasing it in Hum Apke Hai Kaun and now everywhere it is practiced from India to Pakistan to Hindus to Muslims and now even I have seen some Christians also doing this now

    Every rituals perform in Muslim weddings are based on Hindu Rituals. When you go to Saudi or Arab they have different cultures of wedding as they are the real Muslims. Mostly muslims in Asia are converted that's why they follow Hindu wedding culture.

    • @sanjidaahmed7981
      @sanjidaahmed7981 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arabians also do a lot of thing as per their culture.. Because a typical islamic wedding is just signing a marraige contract by the consent of bride and groom along with sign of two witnesses from both sides and amount is also written in the contract which has to be given by groom to bride.and it's done..

    • @romanakhan4075

    After the contract was signed, the marriage is complete. The other rituals are not from Islam, but from Indian culture. This varies from region to region and usually practicing Muslims don't have such late night weddings with such events.

    • @70newlife
      @70newlife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are not rituals, just cultural activities. Marriage in Islam is a contract between two individuals. The contract is based on the offer of marriage by the groom and the conditions if any put forward by the bride for acceptance of the offer of marriage. If both parties agree on it they sign the contract. The marriage comes with some rights and responsibilities ingrained in it by Islam some of those may be overridden by mutual consent if needed. Two witnesses are needed from each side and if needed( in fact it is the norm) an advocate on behalf of the bride represents her to talk to the groom. All other acctivities including food/feast are not part of the nikah. Subsequent to the marriage and it's consummation feast to announce the marriage is expected to be hosted by the groom. All other acctivities are cultural and skipping or adding any of them has no value on the marriage it self.

      It's actually called Meher.. That has to be given to the bride by the Groom.. And it's compulsory. The amount or property whatever is given is written in the marriage contract.

    • @bhatzeya7052
      @bhatzeya7052 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Islam there is no dowry but it is opposite called as 'mehr' meaning a gift from groom to bride like money, jewellery etc....
