No, it does not! It adds another layer, actually. It's amazing - you keep your original iDrive, and you can switch between this MMI and the iDrive. It's perfect.
Hey, nice tutorial! Can I just ask,, does your phone connect to it automatically, or u have to go to settings everytime u use it? And next q, does it come up when i start the car, or I have to start it by myself, thanks! Im thinking about this for a long time and am kinda scared that I will spend lot of time before i ride with setting it.
It comments completely automatically. On my Samsung S22 Ultra, all I do is have my bluetooth on (usually always) or, if it's off, just before i get in the car. The MMI will connect automatically and open up Android Auto for me without having to do a thing. Most of the time, that is. Sometimes, it struggles a little, but 98% of the time, it's completely automatically. Also, it starts whenever you unlock the car. So you don't even have to turn it on. Just unlock the car and it connects, sometimes even before you sit down in your seat. You won't have to spend any time at all connecting it. Seriously impressive stuff.
Well, it should be noted that this doesn't replace the OEM system. It's just an extension - if you hold down the 'Menu' button, you go back to the normal shstem, and all functions still work as intended. Hold the Menu button again, and you'll go back to the MMI Pro interface. You still retain all factory access and features!
That's a pretty common problem I've been hearing about - their latest update fixes those issues, and more! Go ahead and see if your system is up-to-date, and, if not, give it an update!
Yes! BimmerTech does OE screen upgrades and retrofits, so if you have the smaller screen, you can upgrade to the bigger screen through BimmerTech, and retain the OEM look on your car!
Yes! It still uses the favtory camera and sensors, so it just pops them up when you go into reverse or when you press the PDC button. It entegrates perfectly!
Didnt you have to take the c pillar cap Off and cemter console off to run mic amd aux cables like they have on their bimmertech F10 installation video? I am going to buy this but I am confused after watching that video with all the extra mic and aux cables running and c pillar and center console removing and stuff, so your mic works and youre able to speak on the phone and talk to siri and stuff? If yes why you think bimmmertech video did all that extra stuff?
BimmerTech does the hard work for you. That's why they charge a premium compared to other, cheaper Chinese brands. There's no need to remove any pillars, no extra, weird, confusing cables. BimmerTech has (I believe) updated their hardware and firmware to be able to use the car microphone with the MMI Pro, or, like I am doing, use the car's microphone to control my phone, not the MMI Pro. Personally, I rarely use Siri or Google Voice. Let me know if you still have any questions!
@@MotoRevs the video is from bimmertech and they do all that pillar removing and confusing extra weird cables in the video thats why I was asking , if I do just what you did would I be able to use the cars microphone for Siri/to take and make calls etc, or Do I have to do all that extra stuff to be able to use the mic
Well, honestly, I'm not sure. I say that because BimmerTech says you'll be able to, but I haven't had mine set up because, like I said, I don't use any of those features. Their customer support is fantastic, so I'd go ahead and go to their website, find their phone number, give them a call, and ask them the same question you're asking me - they'd definitely be much more helpful than I could.
I'm excited for you! I really appreciate it. Also, I just figured it out - my PGA Microphone gain was at 0, so obviously it didn't work - I just amped it up, and now all the features you were asking me about work.

Keep it up man! I'm enjoying the journey.
Thank you! I love the support.
Does this completely rule out the original iDrive that came with the car?
No, it does not! It adds another layer, actually. It's amazing - you keep your original iDrive, and you can switch between this MMI and the iDrive. It's perfect.
@@MotoRevs that’s fantastic then. I’m definitely going to look into this as one of my next projects
That's great! I hope you go forward with it and enjoy it.

Very sick but i think I’ll stick with the normal system that bmw has this looks way more complicated, can’t wait for that cold Intake video tho

Does the oem radio still work when you are in carplay? And does it use oem microphones when making a call?
Yes, and yes! Radio works with the CarPlay, as I've tried, qnd it uses the OEM microphone.
Mine is inconsistent and screen mirroring has never work. I thought about sending it back, but for the price it is probably with keeping.

Nice video very helpful showing bimmertech working wirelessly for audio. Is there an upgraded screen option?
Yes! BimmerTech does OE screen upgrades and retrofits, so if you have the smaller screen, you can upgrade to the bigger screen through BimmerTech, and retain the OEM look on your car!
does the parking camera and sensor work well?
Yes! It still uses the favtory camera and sensors, so it just pops them up when you go into reverse or when you press the PDC button. It entegrates perfectly!
great video daniel!
Thank you Gleb!
