    Honestly…Las Vegas should have been San Diego instead since SDSU has a brand new stadium

    • @KnightBoat
      @KnightBoat ปีที่แล้ว +35

      That, and Las Vegas has the Raiders now. I can't see how that alone wouldn't mean more of a market for the XFL in San Diego.

    • @gregpaspatis9425
      @gregpaspatis9425 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      San Diego unfortunately no longer has its NFL team and it also has a non-existent history of a Spring pro league team either. Oakland had the USFL's Invaders in the 1980s while the original XFL had the San Francisco Demons at the S.F. Giants' A.T.& T. Park. XFL can consider aging Ring Coliseum as a temporary alternative for L. Vegas Vipers until baseball Athletics have a new home.

      @PoopVintner ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Las Vegas has a bunch of stadiums they could have theoretically used too… they are just too dysfunctional and couldn’t come to an agreement with any of the good stadiums. Cashman is about 20 years too old, it was dilapidated garbage with run down facilities 10 years ago, can’t imagine it’s gotten any better

      They may have negotiated an escape clause from Cashman,if they can secure a larger/better venue down the road and pay an early exit fee
      which would be paid off by the larger crowds at a bigger stadium.

      The Battlehawks led the XFL in attendance before COVID hit. Meanwhile the San Antonio Commanders led the AAF in attendance before the league went under, so it will be a battle to see which team will lead the XFL in attendance this year. St.Louis was looking at over 40,000 for their cancelled matchup with the LA Wildcats that was to be a prime time match up.
      St.Louis fans were going to make a statement against the NFL by showing up in force to jeer an LA team.

    Interesting set of Stadiums....- Couple of things- Alamodome did host the New Orleans Saints for 3 games during 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina. 2. Orlando's stadium is traditionally called the Citrus Bowl which it still hosts and is it's primary reason for existing (due to it's size and low occupancy it's frequently a target for startup leagues). 3. Choctaw stadium should still be home to the Rangers, the Grill next door is unnecessary and ugly. The Former Edward Jones Dome in St Louis is so "generic Domed stadium"

    • @BroadwayJoe99
      @BroadwayJoe99 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The reason the Rangers left Choctaw Stadium for their new dome is quite simple - Texas summers. Fans and players alike complained for decades about Rangers day games, and The Ballpark in Arlington/Choctaw Stadium never should've been built to begin with. But the faux-retro ballpark trend was in full swing when TBIA was proposed to replace the old Arlington Stadium - which was a human BBQ disguised as a cheap-ass stadium - so here we are.

    TDECU Stadium was actually completely rebuilt around 10 years ago. It was originally called Robertson Stadium, and hosted both the University of Houston's football team (the Cougars), and Houston Dynamo of MLS. The Dynamo moved to their own stadium in downtown Houston (I've been there myself, it's quite nice, but never as full as they claim it is). I think the Cougars spent a year at Reliant/NRG Stadium for the rebuilt of what became TDECU.
    And the upper decks at CWS (The Citrus Bowl) were built in 1989. The original lower bowl was actually pieced together from the 1930s through the 1970s in sections. They tore it down in 2014, and completely rebuilt it from cast concrete over the period of eight months, chairs included, so it could host Orlando City in MLS for a couple years before they got their own stadium built. (The previous minor-league Orlando City also called the Citrus Bowl home, and had to move out for 2014 for that rebuild.)

    Arlington?? Tough one.
    Houston also seems iffy
    …and WTF Vegas?!? 😳😨😵‍💫
    So 3 or 4 of these teams are definitely profitable. We’ll see after a year if they try to expand, a team or two moves or if becomes a disaster like the first attempt.

    • @DDDiego

      Houston’s attendance in 2020 was fantastic, they’ll be just fine this coming season, same with Seattle. I think Arlington will be fine. Not on St Louis levels but a respectable attendance especially the league opener against Vegas. As for Vegas, I think it’ll be a decent attendance of at least 8K or better. Good thing about Cashman Field is that it’s the smallest of all of the other stadiums so there shouldn’t be much to worry about the attendance or empty seats on TV. I think they’re just testing it out there and if they exceed expectations, they could add some seats there

  • @larryloveless2967

    I hope the other XFL cities come close to supporting their teams as well as will St. Louis. It took time for St. Louis to acknowlegde the need to tear down their 20 year old Dome and intended to build a new outdoor stadium on its riverfront once owner Stan Kroenke threatend to move the Rams to L.A. for its larger market. .An owner was still needed to support its building at a percentage in common with the rest of the NFL. Due to the St, Louis lawsuit against the NFL it was disclosed the Rams were given permission by owners to move only once Stan Kroenke by signing an indemnification agreement with the other owners they believed Stan Kroenke would pay for any lawsuit damages won by St. Louis. It of course settled out of court. St. Louis is now ready to support the Battle Hawks the same as it does its other sports teams inclduding baseball, hockey, and a new soccer (football) team given its new stadium for the upcoming 2023 season.

    • @isaacwojo3273

    • @larryloveless2967
      @larryloveless2967 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@isaacwojo3273 In Los Angeles, Stan Kroenke is seen as being a savior. In St. Louis, Stan Kroenke will forever be known as Judas. He sold out St. Louis for pieces of silver, many pieces of silver. Looking back I can why it was so hard to realize it would take tearing down a stadium only 20 years old. He knew the big money was in L.A.. He showed no interest in a new St. Louis stadium as he had already bought the land for SOFI years prior and the St. Louis media made this known. It just shows more is needed than just fan support although like any other city when there is a bad team attendance is affected. An owner of a sports team also needs to be someone who wants to be in your city. At ,least from the St. Louis lawsuit against the NFL since St. Louis could only work with them and their relocation by-laws, it became known that only the indemnification agreement with most owners knowing it was wrong, then agreed to let Kroenke move thinking they were not affected financially. That also speaks of the NFL. An expansion team should have been offered to St. Louis, as a compromise, but an owner would have still been needed. St. Louis cannot be compared to what happened in San Diego and Oakland.

    • @larryloveless2967
      @larryloveless2967 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@isaacwojo3273 I also think St. Louis simply had the wrong owner for its city. Stan Kroenke being so ultra wealthy was able to afford building in the expensive L.A. market unlke other owners but by doing so has multiplied his wealth. Even if the NFL owners had rejected the Kroenke move according to their relocation by-laws set up to protect small market cities, Stan Kroenlke would not have given up. He already bought the land for SOFI. He would have become a "do nothing" owner for St. Louis selling off any players of quality. He would not have put one dollar in to a new St. Louis stadium. He would have basically given St. Louis a minor league team in the NFL and hoped that poor attendance for his last place teams would convince more owners to grant his move to L.A.. since St. Louis was not supporting the Rams.

    • @skidawg22
      @skidawg22 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@larryloveless2967 That last sentence is correct. San Diego and Oakland did comparatively nothing to keep their teams, and Spanos and Davis actually did follow the NFL's relocation policy. All of which were conveniently ignored in St. Louis. One more thing, though: the Dome is part of the convention center and does host non-football events. If the riverfront stadium had been built, I think the Dome would still be around for that reason.

    • @larryloveless2967
      @larryloveless2967 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skidawg22 That's interesting. I have a buddy long time season ticket holder of the Big Red and Rams years. He liked the Dome because it was warm on cold days. Now looking forward to a BattleHawks game in April going with that person. The NFL did have a problem with an owner wanting to leave, and at times in the past an expansion team was set up for the that city like for Washington in 1961 when the original Senators became the Twins. I think I read Goodell considerd it but an owner was still needed and he had thought some about an NFL temporary ownership for a while.
