Klose for Podolski for a goal against Poland omg... That's like the most ironic thing ever in football
Well Klose said he doesn't feel to be Polish and said some mean words about Poland several times to make it clear. But Podolski is Polish he just played for Germany because they invited him to the team. Poland unfortunately was not interested. Silly us.

@@narcyznarcyz-uv4td he is ethnically german, his family stayed behind when the east part of germany was ceded to poland after ww2, he moved to germany when he was young (altho his parents still grew up in communist poland)

@@HiddenLord both Klose and Podolski are Silesians with German ancestors. The region of Silesia was German before the end of World War II. Real Polish people weren't allowed travelling to West-Europe before the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Powinniśmy się cieszyć że nie przegraliśmy wyżej, bo Niemcy naprawdę marnowali świetne sytuacje, do których dopuszczała fatalnie dysponowana polska obrona. Spójrzmy prawdzie w oczy, poza Borucem i może Rogerem mieliśmy słaby zespół. Skład węgla i papy. Już sam awans na turniej był sukcesem.

That had been the worse time in Mario Gomez' career. He was a fresh young player and even took away Podolski's place as the partner of Klose (Podolski had to go on the wing because of that) and than he did not score a single goal in the tournament although he had so MANY chances! For years Germans have hated and frequently booed only at him when he was substituted or missed a chance. It even became a tradition and sometimes he was even booed while celebrating a goal he just scored... It durated until 2012 that Germans started forgetting that, but in 2014 in a 2-4 vs. Argentina he was personally booed while the rest of the team was cheered. He wasn't even angry anymore and called it a tradition... The biggest surprise was when in 2016 during a 0:0 vs. Poland fans were cheering for Gomez to come on the field.
Because of irony, they wanted him to went in🤣
