I watch from Oregon and I have seen 5 Rose Ave. clean ups.The workers do such a great job and I love results but sheesh! Utterly understand the frustration residents have. The sheer volume of crap and the energy and time it takes to bring it there makes me mad at the people doing that it is time and energy they should be using to support themselves.Seems they are able bodied enough to trash this area they can work in a positive capacity. Its almost eco-terrorism.Still love these videos tho, thank you Fabian

The homeless people who always leave garbage there should be obliged to put it in the garbage truck themselves. Otherwise they would never learn what cleanliness is.

Usually there are staff from community programs to offer services to the homeless. Rarely are these services taken as the strings attached are usually; no illegal drugs, must look for a job, cannot spend the entire day at the facility, must stay on prescribed meds, or their mental health is an issue the programs can’t handle, so I would have to agree that the choice to change their living situation is up to the homeless and you can’t make them take the services offered.

They are not allowed to arrest them. California is a liberal city, they call this compassion, they don't arrest for drug use in public, if you steal up to $950 it's only a misdemeanor no matter how many times you get caught. This area is nothing, skid row downtown is blocks and blocks of homeless .

If the homeless wouldn’t be there weekly then the officers could do their actual job. Without the police presence the sanitation workers wouldn’t be able to do their job of cleaning up as the homeless appear very territorial and would take hours for the homeless to leave. Besides, the homeless know what day is clean up day and yet continue to wait until the last minute to start packing!
