It's so sad to read the comments and see people being defensive without actually watching the video. If they would listen before they speak, they would discover Justin isn't denying that God still heals and does miracles. He's pointing out false doctrine and false teachers who are making merchandise of the gospel, costing people their lives and shipwrecking peoples faith. Justin believes in healing and miracles. It's a shame so few are willing to listen to him to find out what he believes before accusing him of lacking faith. True faith doesn't require a sign.. Only a wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign.
Nice comment but I am not sure about your last sentence. Haven't you taken a verse out of context? Can you convince me that ONLY wicked and adulterous generations seem after a sign? Doubting Thomas needed a sign didn't he? And the disciples on the road to Emmaus needed a sign? Gideon sought a sign... The Apostles cast lots to choose a replacement for Judas Iscariot. I suppose we are all wicked and adulterous, but some people seek signs and some don't

@@SolaGratia. Of course I am not joking and of course I recognize Jesus' words. I was just asking if there was any reason we should take his words and add "only" to his words, then take them out of context and apply it as a general rule to everything and everyone. Your original comment changed Christs words. Implying that anyone requesting a sign is a wicked and adulterous generation. So I asked if that means Gideon and Thomas and others were all a wicked adulterous generation. It's a fair question..
@@br.m That isn't what I said. You're straining on a gnat while swallowing a camel, sir/madam. The best thing any of us can do is read the Bible and obey it. That way, it doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks. Let God be true and every man a liar, including you and I.
Say what you want but I had a back it was killing me for seven years. I was healed at church on Sunday Monday I had an appointment at rehab and went form adjustment which messed it up again. Went back to church and my back was healed again through Prayer and laying on of hands. After that I canceled all rehab appointments. And I have not had one back problem in four years praise God. The church didn’t heal my back, Jesus healed my back. I could barely walk and now I walk Normally. So all the people who do not believe in current healing today it does happen. I don’t know what makes it happen for some and others not. But I’m healed and that’s all that matters to me
He doesnt say God can not heal;rather He generally does not, and specifically, doesnt heal everyone, as Christ and His disciples did in the Gospel, when preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom to the Jews, who NEEDED a sign such as healing. This is contrary to Word of Faith teaching. I was Word of Faith, and found it to be total bunk.
@@watsons4233 Signs and wonders are NOT a positive thing. Jesus and Paul both criticized the Jews for demanding signs and wonders (Jn 4.48, 1 Co 1.22), and they were actually a sign of judgment upon those who would not believe. You shouldn't WANT to see signs and wonders. We are a people who walk by faith, not by sight (Jn 20.29, 2 Co 5.7). The cross should be enough for us.
I spent 36 yrs in the charismatic and Pentecostal community as a minister . It’s been 23 yrs since I’ve crawled out of that garbage and I’m STILL dealing with the spiritual fallout. @@ktermalkut5533 lol. You understand very little about the church. You look for reason why the church is wrong and just like the Pentecostals you point out something spiritual in order to sound like your in touch with God who has given you understanding of something that most don't know and because of that you miss the entire reason why the church has the issues it has.
Thank you for sharing about false teachers, we understand they are abundant, but the Word of God stands true, He’s still saving and delivering His people.
I am a "charismatic" BUT I don't attend a charismatic church any longer. I saw way too much twisting of scripture, extremes, disorder, spiritual manipulation and control over congregants. I will always believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit until Jesus comes, and that God can use his disciples in these gifts, but I don't believe that I or anyone else can go around on their own accord and do these things of their own volition, collect money for miracles, and make statements that give people false hope. One has to be led by the Holy Spirit, reflect the character of Jesus, be prayed up, study the Word of God and be devoted to the Lord to ensure He gets all the glory. I do not embrace this current charismatic "movement." It's gone way off the rails and it saddens me to no end. I came to Christ because of the 1970's Charismatic awakening in mainline denominational churches. It was NOTHING like it is today. There was so much reverence and fear of the Lord, love for the brethren, praying for one another, worshiping God together in small groups. It was such a blessing to fellowship in these small prayer groups with Lutherans, Baptists, Catholics etc centering everything around the bible, Jesus and His precious Holy Spirit. So many came people came to Christ and experienced genuine conversions because of it. Now, I'm afraid we are seeing a lot of false conversions as a result of a different gospel, different spirit and different Jesus being preached. The leaven of greed and the prosperity gospel, and new age has crept into, not only Charismatic churches but other non denomination churches, including Mega Churches and corrupted so many ministers who may have started well, but have denied the Lord for fame, power , glory and money. May the Lord have mercy on His church and His people. We need a revival of true godly sorrow, godly fear, true repentance and renewed love for the Scriptures for sure. I'm afraid the only thing that will purify His bride at this point is persecution. It will separate the wheat from the chaff. That's how the early church grew. I'm afraid most Christians are not prepared for the trying times we are in and what lay ahead. God bless you Brother Peters.
You said it all sister lol,but there are some good churches like mine. You have to search around. It's tedious. I have a Bible teaching pastor...thank you Jesus.
@@Robertaerdmane Sorry for your experience Mary Ann. Our 1st loyalty is to Jesus. Just because something has the label Christian, doesn't mean it is, as in the 7 churches in Revelation.
I thank God for Justin Peters. I can say the same thing: I spent over 30 years in the WOF movement until God opened my blinded eyes through his ministry and led me to a church that actually taught from the Bible. I am eternally grateful for Justin Peters and his ministry!
@@GermoStaalfeldt Exactly. We must be discerning in all things. Bereans using the counsel of the whole word of God. Justin is not correct in all of his doctrine or stance. No one is. I mean, the Bereans even checked PAUL the Apostle. And they were commended for it. Cheers and God bless. 🙂
I’m sorry that happened to you Justin. I do appreciate your love for God and His Word. I do have hundreds of prophetic dreams though ❤ God has used dreams to show me how to pray for people. He also led me to a missionary in a dream. I found the missionary in real life and was able to support them.
I’ve had several supernatural encounters in my life and I received a gift of the Spirit. Yet people who have never experienced these things will try to shame me and convince me that it’s all made up in my head. It would be akin to me trying to convince someone that they sleep with their eyes open.
When I was young this guy in town slept with his eyes open. It was super creepy. We convinced him really easily. Is it supposed to be hard to do? These days we could just take a video of him to prove it.
I am not a cessationist and refuse to limit God’s sovereignty. If you limit any of the gifts you must limit them all. This includes all prophetic gifts and all administrative gifts. It is true that there are abuses in these areas, but given the fallen nature of church leadership(per the internet) is common to believers in all camps. The fall of many pastors, the closing of many mainline Protestant churches, all these are evidence that none of us can point fingers. I appreciate those who expose false teaching, but deplore the lack of faith which deny the gifts today. I have questions these folks do not answer. Is the Church at large any less needy today than it was in Jesus’s day? What were the purpose for the gifts (if not to give witness to God’s presence)? Why did Paul expound so heavily in 2 Cor. 12-14 on the gifts if they were meant to disappear after John’s Revelations? And false teachers have nothing to do with the giving of the gifts, they merely take advantage of people’s need, so why not make that distinction? May God bless those who still place their faith in Jesus and in the Holy Spirt’s gifting.
@@robertrlkatz6890 If we believe Jesus is truthful and trustworthy, if we believe the Word is God-breathed, then we have a sense of certainty. But none of us lives our life with absolute certainty about anything. You cannot even be certain you will wake up tomorrow but your hope is that you will because you have good health, because your doctors have cared well for you, your diet is a good one, and so on. My certainty is based not on hope but on the evidence that Christ, Lazarus, a widow’s son, and a young girl were dead but according to witnesses lived again! Since they lived again I believe I will also, and as a Believer that means there is a place prepared for me in heaven according to Jesus’s promise. This is not blind faith or wishful thinking, but certainty based on evidence. Do you watch lawyer movies? The police gather evidence of crime and the jury convicts or not based on the evidence and eyewitness testimony, even though the jury was not at the place of the crime when it happened. My conviction of eternal life is based on the same type of evidence and on the consistency of Christ’ person, testimony, and sinless life. What about you? Blessings.

Back in the 80’s Kenneth Copeland came to Jacksonville fl. and his meetings were like Bennies and I remember him taking up the offering and I couldn’t believe it , I don’t know how they counted it so fast but it wasn’t enough and K C said “pass it again ,” and he seemed kind of angry , and he did this before he would preach, and I do know he NEVER came back to Jacksonville again. You seem to know the false teacher from the true now. I’m sad you stay away from something Christ gave us for our benefit, the church. If you study your Bible and pray about it God will lead you to a faithful church, not perfect but faithful. G3 here has a church finder I recommend it. Paul wrote letters to the churches. He would have known nothing of Lone Ranger Christianity. They needed each other and we are no different. I found one by watching online first and studying their doctrinal statements also continuing to be a berean. God bless and godspeed. 🙏
The incontrovertible fact is that Jesus was 100% word of faith. He is our prime example of acting on a word of faith basis. So, do not be side-tracked by people who profess to be word of faith but in some respects with regard to word of faith act contrary to the example set by Jesus.
I totally get where you're coming from and swore the same thing when He showed me that Jesus Image and all related to it is false. I do have a hard time trusting as well. I now know why He says to guard your heart. The church is only now beginning to teach on what these false things are and biblical reasoning as to why, instead of a bunch of name calling. During this journey, He caused me to dive into His Word and start memorizing it and hiding it in my heart. As His word says I should. This helped me to really ponder His Word. Now, several years later, I have actually joined an Independent Bapst Church. And the things that I discovered in that movement, I warn my brothers and sisters about. That's what The Lord says to do also. I am not responsible for whether they take me serious or not, that's been a hard thing to learn. However, because of the love The Lord has given me for others, and the gratitude that He rescued me out of this stuff, I must warn others just like witnessing to them about their sin, the need for righteousness and of the judgment to come for those who don't repent. He's also helped me realize that my life is about more than me, it's about Him. He is my life. Trouble and pain will come , He told us to expect it, but He did promise He'd be with us every step of the way. He that tries to save his life, self protect, will lose it. How unloving is it not to warn others of the knowledge The Lord has given us to warn others to beware? The occult, mysticism etc have infiltrated a naive and unsuspecting body of Christ, some are actually false converts, as well. I want to know I was obedient to my Lord and cared for others as He has so faithfully done for me. Just some food for thought. I allowed Him to heal my wounds, and now they are battle scars that re ind me of what a Mighty and Faithful Savior I have. Much love and prayer for you.
When the Lord delivered you out of such heretical movements, whatever names they may be known, there’s a tendency for us to present a correction of the false teachings as presented by pastors and sub leaders small groups. You’ll then get flak by these people who will either call you out as critical, dogmatic legalist or ostracise you! And their heretical teachings will continue on as if nothing happened.
May God continue to bless your ministry, my dear Bro Justin, for you are helping more people than you could ever realize! Our sweet Lord Jesus chose you and you are MUCH needed! Praise the LORD!!!❤
Any doctrinal controversy needs to be judged first by the question “What does the scripture say?” not by a review of the genuineness of its proponents. On the question of what is called the charismata, or gifts, I would therefore begin by asking “What does the scripture say about the gifts?” 1 Cor 12.28 says that God has appointed these in the church. That is a good starting point. Abuses, malpractice and fakery do not nullify the scripture. Be careful that you do not fall into unbelief because of bad examples in the church.
Exactly, it's just as evil to claim God no longer wants us to have signs and wonders as it is to FAKE signs and wonders. It's a copout to claim that because we have the Bible in writing, we no longer need the gifts. That is a completely made-up doctrine with ZERO Biblical support. Worse, it keeps the Church from correcting and figuring out WHAT it's doing wrong and asking WHY aren't the "greater works" that Jesus talked about happening today? If anything, we need signs and wonders now, more than ever. However, as carnal as the western church is, I understand why He hasn't released that power.
I can't hold to a full cessationism position because the exegetical case is unconvincing. However, when I look at the charismatic movement, I do believe most people who are practicing within the realm of" gifts" are actually just imagining the majority of what's occurring. I also think that full cessationism borders on the mindset of "God can't use someone to heal or prophesy or speak tongues" and that too I believe is a logical fallacy if we consider the nature of God and the mysteriousness of his ways as acclaimed in scripture. In any case, my prayer is that God would be glorified even in our misunderstandings and most definitely in what is true and good and satisfying in his sight. May the Lord Jesus bless you and your families. Feel free to reply, I love discussing the richness of God's word and how it applies to our lives.
I'm totally in agreement with you. God has people all over this world that may never be seen on social media, that He is using to heal His people. And they don't have to do it on the same level that the Apostles did it. Only God can make that decision! God is still performing signs and wonders today, all over the world.
Awesome Truth I believe this to.. God wants to clean up the mess in the church.. miracles are always here Now comes the cleansing Fire 🔥 on us the Church ❤being it on Lord
You’re spot on. There are many problems and abuses, but that is not enough reason to dismiss what Scripture says. Paul didn’t say the church in Corinth was false, or that all their gifts were false, because of the mess and muddle there. Rather, he corrected them on many issues and said the gifts could only be safely operated with agape (love). I’m unconvinced by the way cessationists try to dismiss gifts, often as a reaction to the abuses. Rather, Paul wrote that he did not want believers to be ignorant about gifts, and went on to explain.
Thank you for this video! Reminds me of a quote from Charles Spurgeon: "Discernment is not the ability to tell the difference between right and wrong; rather, it is telling the difference between right and almost right."
WOW! I think I will remember that! Thank you! Sometimes I get down on myself because I haven't been able to work...I am disabled. But then I think of so many Dr's that help countless people in their careers, but don't know God! I think of how if they die unsaved they still would have saved alot of people but couldn't save themselves..yes I know it is God that first chose us but you know what I am saying...if they lose their soul! Which means the greatest accomplishment we can make on this earth is to follow Jesus..surrender and continue to follow until our last breathe..
Yeah, well, Charles Spurgeon also “prophesied” toward someone in his congregation and made note of it in his writings. His writing on this point came across rather prideful and in no way could ever be pointed as a “prophetic” word.
When you make categorical statements that there is no proof that miracles are happening shouldn't you at least take sometime to verify if the claim you are making is true or not. I had a hand healed of paralysis after it had deteriorated to the point where we may have had to amputate it. The person who prayed for this healing is not particularly well known and I have met him just once in my life. This is medically verifiable and is a complete miracle.
@pkphilips2 I'm just curious bc if your testimony is true, that is amazing, and I won't discount it. I will ask since you state it is medically verifiable. Would you post evidence on your channel? I would love to hear the complete testimony and see the evidence. Not because I think you are lying but that God may receive the glory. Not that you haven't already given it to Him.
Lovely. The large bulk of the video deals with the flashy Word-Faith crowd, but the title indicts all non-cessationists, and at about 32:00 you explicitly include all Pentecostals and Charismatics as "false teachers." You are classifying entire denominations like the Assemblies of God, Foursquare Church, Calvary Chapel, Vineyard; and scholars like Gordon Fee, Craig Keener, Wayne Grudem, Roger Olson, N.T. Wright, Cindy Westfall, Cherith Nordling, Carmen Imes, Ben Witherington III as false teachers. This is frankly shameful of you. And then JP proceeds to extoll the Bereans (who tested things by Scripture), and explicitly decries basing theology on experience -- which ironically constitutes the bulk of what he did in the prior 30+ minutes of the vid. He gave no exegesis, but rather cited bad actions of various famous preachers. This is the same sort of foolishness used by the crew at Messed up Church to justify their cessationist heterodoxy.
Agree totally with you. Justin is a false teacher whose arguments do not work. He had a painful experience of not being healed as a teenage and this seems to have affected his mind.
Hey there Brother, I appreciate your zeal! However, I do not think your synopsis of this video is what was being conveyed or said. From Justin Peters view, there "exists" heresy in churches that teach the continuation of the sign gifts; he is not denouncing every aspect of their status as a church or faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Frankly, if I hold a doctrine that I cherish dearly, when revealed to be false, I would have major opposition to the change. You gave some fair criticism of the content if this were to be a seminar or instructional on the scriptural reason to resist charismatic doctrines (I would agree that the title is "clickbait" in character). However, I think for the space of a conversation on a like-minded podcast, he should be allowed to submit some of his ideas with mere reference to Scripture. What if I commented that your rebuttal never exegeted scripture and was purely based off experience? Regardless, praise be to God that we can argue over sign gifts because in the end, we have both been drawn to Him- and this is the greatest sign to God's glory of all!
@@gavinmitchell5853 If he didn't mean to indict all Pentecostals and Charismatics, he should have been more careful to say that. G3 is so committed to cessationism that they have done movies and conferences by that name. Around 32:00, it certainly seems that Josh is at the very least *implying* that modern Charismatics and Pentecostals collectively and normally, not just occasionally, practice "false" tongues and employ "false teaching." How serious does he consider this? Is it heterodox, or heretical, or actually demonic? (FTR, I consider cessationism to be heterodox and unbiblical, but not necessarily heretical.) It would not have been difficult to say something like what you said, viz. that there are SOME Charismatics who teach heresies. It would not have been difficult to just briefly affirm that Pentecostalism and Charismaticism per se are not necessarily heretical. It would not have been difficult for him to affirm that *some* miracle reports may be valid. Neither of them did any of that.
Still waiting to hear where in scripture it says gifts etc., have died off? I understand that gifts have been abused, but the misuse is not the determining factor of belief and practice.
@@HearGodsWord Yes, but not right to preach the cessation of gifts. That's heresy. Instead of making excuses for the lack of signs and wonders, we need to be asking WHY Jesus' PROMISE that we would do greater works than He did, because He goes to the Father. Denying God's plan for signs and wonders and NOT seeking to correct whatever is wrong or missing in the church is no less evil than these charlatans faking the signs and wonders.
There are two basic reasons why noncharismatics tend to close the door on the supernatural world. One is their suspicion that charismatic practices are detached from sound exegesis of Scripture. As a biblical scholar, it’s easy for me to agree with that suspicion-but over time it has widely degenerated into a closed-minded overreaction that is itself detached from the worldview of the biblical writers. Michael S. Heiser, The Unseen Realm: Recovering the Supernatural Worldview of the Bible, First Edition. (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2015), 17.
They believe that way because they can't get a manifestation from God. Mainly because most are carnal Christians. We serve a supernatural God who born His Son through a virgin birth, who said we would do all the things Jesus did and more. Bottom line is they don't believe the word of God.
God healed me of Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis of the spine when I got sick in my twenties. I woke up paralyzed could not move my neck and the pain was unbearable . My doctors diagnosed me with rheumatoid arthritis of the spine and collagen vascular disease . Two young preachers from the United Pentecostal church prayed for me and anointed me with oil in the name of Jesus Christ and I've been healed ever since & that was 60 years ago .. Justin Peters has no argument against someone with an experience and documentation . And I've seen God heal so many others through those 60 years they can only be called miracles. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever . I've never been in the word of faith movement I was raised in the upci
@Susanna1953, anyone can make claims about healing, yet the hospitals WORLDWIDE are filled to capacity with the sick and dying! You have NO PROOF of the healing you say that happened to you when you were in your twenties 60 years ago, and now you must be at least in your early 80s here in the year! You have been DECEIVED BY SATAN!
Agree with you with about fraudulent preachers. But we are still encouraged to pray for one another and the answer to prayer is an intervention of God.
What Justin Peters is doing is apologetics. That is part of our Christian walk. Also, I think you would be hard pressed to find anywhere that Justin Peters tells us not to pray for people.
I think most people aren’t understanding what Justin Peters is saying. Does God still heal today? Yes but he’s talking about the Apostlic gifts are no longer around, like tongues, interpretations of tongues, miracle healings(immediately and such as lesions disappearing in sight, lame to walk, blind to see, etc). If the gifts truly were to continue then explain why they disappeared? No resurrection of the dead either. There’s no such thing as “believer’s authority, it’s not Scriptural. Just so you know I was formally Pentecostal, but I did not depend on the pastor to tell me the truth for I studied scripture and the Holy Spirit revealed to me the truth about there been no longer apostle gifts or powers. No more apostles, no more prophets either.
They didn’t disappear! It’s like cessationist put their hands over their eyes and say things disappeared. Why would you expect a teacher who doesn’t believe or engage Holy Spirit to be a credible teacher on Holy Spirit?
My fiance was bleeding like crazy and blacked out from the loss of blood. We were in the ER and my charismatic pastor friend called, declared healing over her and when the doctors tested her she wasn't just healed, they confirmed that she had more hemoglobin and better health than the average woman. Just happened on Sunday. I have friends that have had feet healed (and stay healed), life long conditions healed, wombs healed. This stuff happens all the time
If you are obedient to the Lord you will see healing but it's to His glory not ours. What happens to you when you are not healed? Paul prayed three times to have the thorn in the flesh removed and the Lord said My grace is sufficient unto you. It's not about healing, it's about obedience. When was the last time any of these false teachers did a sermon on suffering? Did they ever say if you follow the Lord you could lose your job, family , home or life? When WOF pastors talk all they say is God wants you healed, happy and He wants you rich. That's funny because Jesus said you can't serve two masters, you will love the one and hate the other and finishes by saying do not store up your treasure on earth where rust and moth destroy but store it up in heaven. Our eyes should be on the eternal not this life.
What makes you think those are of the God of Moses and Abraham and Jacob? Do you think that if an angel full of light appeared to you and worked a miracle, that would be of the true God? Who can you think of that can perform miracles, and is an angel of light? Be weary of false prophets, and miracles done in his name.
@@whatmusiciwant If you ask the God of the Bible for healing, he isn't going to use a demon or fallen angel to answer your prayer. God is a good father. You can use the same logic you are using of "how do you know it is really God" for anything. How did Paul really know it was Jesus that appeared to him, what if it was a demon deceiving him? How did Peter and John know it was really the risen Jesus, not a demonic illusion? How can anyone know any spiritual experience is legitimate? For me, If a bible-believing christian with normal Christian beliefs prays for healing and it works, i'm going to give God the glory no the devil.
@@Gemicorn40 One of the other miracles that happened was a person was told they would die of cancer within 3 months and there was nothing the doctors could do. Same pastor prayed and the woman was shown to have no cancer in her body at all. Another friend had a foot injury for years and it would hurt just after a little walking, was prayed for and completely healed, instantly went running and nothing came back. Its always possible that we missed something, but its super weird that actual christians are fighting to deny that God can heal, something that God promises to do.
I just went to a fantastic concert to see Mercy Me and some other's. As I looked at the thousands of people praising God, I really felt sorry for the Baptists not knowing what's that's like.
That is a pretty pathetic and ignorant thing thing to say about the Baptists. I would take a Baptist hymn over some cheeseball rock concert that you people call worship.
@RomanZeNine a Christian concert and songs during a service is different.I I could never go back to a dead church. This generation is looking for more than a Baptist church.

“Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.” Mark 6:5-6 NKJV For anything to work in the supernatural there needs to be faith. It’s no wonder you don’t see or experience anything supernatural. The Bible warns that in the last days there will be believers who have a form of godliness but deny the power. I’m sorry you didn’t get your healing for whatever reason but I have seen several healings first hand, one where a club foot opened out in front of those praying for him. I’m sorry you weren’t there to see it, you may have a different opinion if you had. Praying God opens your spiritual eyes. That would be the bigger miracle.
So all those kids who die of cancer lack faith? I know that if God wills it he can 100% heal me of my condition. I however do not believe any person today has the gift of healing in the same way the Apostles had the gift of healing.
@@kevinnel5026 notice the Bible says: he laid hand on a few sick people and healed them. Healing is always about God’s sovereignty, not about men. Quit making yourself equal to God, and stop listening to false teacher bill Johnson
Wonderful seeing this interview on G3. It's easy for us to think that we "know all that" about Christianity without having ever read the Bible through cover to cover. There is a great protection against false teaching with knowledge of the word combined with the Holy Spirit's guidance that will help us through this. It's vital for healthy Christianity both personally and world wide.
Thank you thank you thank you for making this podcast! You absolutely clarified and confirmed what i have been trying to figure out for the past 62 years!! Go Jesus!
I have never been in a charismatic church but when I read the Bible and it spoke about the connection of baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues I prayed to God that I wanted to receive that and He did baptise me and enveloped me in a love I had never experienced before and He gave me the ability to speak in another tongue which is actually a gift from Him and is my personal language of prayer. Anyone who has genuinely received this gift would rather put their life on the line rather than deny it!
I'm puzzled about the speaking in tongues, as well. Paul certainly said he spoke in tongues more than anyone, and we have I Corinthians 13 "though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels". I think this may still be legit, but is misused when people speak out in church with no interpreter, for example. I'm grateful for ministries such as these that have helped me sort through things that I was exposed to being in Charismatic churches for years, but I don't know if the pendulum has swung too far the other way. I just keep asking the Lord to clarify things for me.
@@denisescott34 yes the gifts are alive and well today but how can anyone receive anything they don’t believe? Can we receive Christ if we don’t believe Him? Hardly! But we hear, we believe and then we receive. Paul tells us this in Ephesians. Read it for yourself in Eph Ch 1. The Holy Spirit seals us. And read how the Jews who were with Peter who spoke the gospel message to Cornelius; they knew Cornelius (gentile) and all his household had received God because they received the same way they (Jews) had. In Acts 10 didn’t Paul come across BELIEVERS who had not yet been baptised (sealed) with the Holy Spirit? And when he explained the full gospel to them and laid hands on them (and assuming they also prayed to the Father asking Him for the baptism), they too received, and Paul knew they had received because he heard them speak with their new tongue. These passages are pretty explicit and cannot be refuted. We must listen and be taught by what we read in God’s Word and not be swayed away from it by any man’s opinion. Men can preach in error because they have their own limited beliefs and opinions that are formed by bad experiences but God does not, He’s always true to His Word, He is not a man that He should lie; He doesn’t because He can’t. Continue to ask the Father to send the baptism of the Holy Spirit until He releases it to you; want Him with all your heart. You will know when it happens, you will put a day and an hour to it. Read ACTS and discover the acts of the Holy Spirit for yourself. Read and pray. God Bless you.

I couldn't agree more with the lack of discernment these days. It's maddening. But how do we counter it when well meaning and, from all we can tell, genuinely saved Christians are open to this stuff because, "God COULD be doing such and such." Oh, it's not often the super obvious "health & wealth" excesses. But the whole thing of, "God told me", and "God has a word for you", and vague "prophecies" that may or may not happen in the future. Things are not explicitly anti-biblical and you can't really prove/disprove it, especially when it's very vague and/or hasn't even happened yet. It drives me nuts! It's common for people to spend way more time on that stuff than reading their Bibles!
My son got healed of a bone growth on his left cheek bone ( his left cheekbone was growing unnaturally) Doctors said to have it removed surgically but we were praying and we believed God would heal him and so we quoted God's healing scripture according to Isaiah .He 6 years then believed. And over a period of about 3/4 weeks it disappeared or went to normal ...what faith to believe God gave us ! 🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
I wanted to thank you for helping helping Justin Peters and others in his camp make their case. You said it was healed "over a period of 3/4 weeks". That isn't the same kind of miraculous healing that happened in Scripture that was passed on by the Apostles. Everyone who isn't in the Charismatic movement believe God MAY heal someone if it is in His will to do so. Fortunately, it worked out for your son. Praise God! But it didn't work for my late father. He was in bitter agony for over a month before meeting his maker. All of our prayers, across multiple churches didn't do it. Your charismatic movement had me convinced it was my fault that my dad died. It had my convinced he died because I lacked the faith to heal him. Nobody should be tortured like that. The Charismatic Movement is Satanic in how it abuses people spiritually and psychologically.
1 Corinthians 2: 4 and 5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
I don't know much...but, I do know this. From 1994-2005, I had to wear eyeglasses to be able to see far off. I was prayed for (as a skeptic) in a Church service in May 2003, but, nothing happened. In June of 2004, I sat on my glasses and bent them by accident. When I went to get a new pair of glasses in Franklin, Tennessee my eyes were 50% better than my prescription. I elected to not get new glasses and was able to get my mechanic to bend them back into shape. I started just not wearing them in November of 2005, and then, out of the blue, they broke. I went back in May of 2006 to an eye glass place in Green Hills (Nashville) and got glasses, but, took them back because they were not needed. I have been eye glasses free since then, though, over the past year, I've noticed that my "up close" vision gets fuzzy at times. Again, I don't know much....but, like the man in John 9/10, I do know I was healed.
Yes, God healed you. Through the gift of being able to pray to our Heavenly Father. He performs millions of miracles daily but no person has the gift of healing. If anyone does? Where are they?
@@treythompson4103that's not honest. The people who prayed for him believed for healing. That's the point isn't it . Weather or not it's because of a gift or not. It stands to reason if you pray believing for something your more likely to see it.

I was raised in the word of faith movement. Even as a young child, I didn't understand the point of speaking in tongues. I watched everyone around me do it and I thought they sounded so stupid. It actually takes thought to say gibberish unless you repeat the same syllable like sid Roth. I wondered why you wouldn't just pray silently if you wanted to have a private conversation with God. I'm so glad God showed me the truth and the truth behind what tongues actually were.
In the initial outpouring of the holy spring there were two types of examples of tongues, those who heard their own language and those who thought it was drunken jibber ish . You realised that in the book of acts many people could not understand the unknown tongues and accused people of being intoxicated , just like the reformed / Calvinist do, they too are like the unbelievers who accused them of speaking jibber ish and are in denial of Gods mighty works, ( well done ) Whilst I am not a charismatic I couldn’t imagine limiting and boxing god into a single decree, a god that decrees “ all events, no rogue molecule “ a god who creates humans and then fills them with his own desires, be wicked or pure, like pre programmed robotrons. To become a Calvinist is to deny the biblical God of LOVE, yes God in essence is LOVE. Calvinism hates Gods sovereignty and LOVE..
Paul adressed the issue about tongues sounding like gibberish to unbelievers and the unlearned: " _ Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are [f]out of your mind? _ " 1Cor14:23 This is because tongues don't sound like regular earthly languages and if you have a carnal mind, you'll think someone speaking in tongues is "out of their mind". "Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." Romans 8:7 Tongues is the one gift God gave the church for self edification, to strenghten your faith, build up your inner man, walk in the spirit, do spiritual wafare. It is such a beautiful beautiful gift! God said through Paul He wishes we would ALL speak in tongues.God bless you
@@faustinem9071 I don't think Paul was talking about gibberish. He was talking about unbelievers walking into a congregation full of people speaking in unknown languages to a bunch of people who don't understand those languages. This scene would be quite confusing to an unbeliever and he would think you're mad. Also, you skipped the verse where it says tongues is a sign to unbelievers.
I too have gone back and forth on this but as I study the Word of God the more gets revealed. Tongues is an apostolic gift, the Bible says that they will cease. The Bible is closed and we can’t add to it. The apostles needed these gifts while the Bible was still being written. God could give someone the ability to speak in tongues on a mission trip to reach that one people that needed to hear the gospel. But He would never give it to people left and right speaking in tongues causing confusion and chaos. He is not the God of confusion, we are to test every spirit. If someone thinks they truly have the gift of tongues here, I would challenge them to truly and humbly ask God to remove this tongues from me if it’s not from Him. And genuinely want to lose it if it’s not from God. That is how we test the spirits.
Teaching that the gifts have ceased is a solid rejection of lots of clear scripture and should be considered a polemic doctrine not a biblical one, which lands them in the place of putting themselves above the word of God rather than teachers of it. If they were teaching the Word and were qualified by God to do so, they would simply affirm 1 Thes. 5 and 1 Cor. 12-14 etc. and say we should not quench the Spirit or despise prophesying, but test it, while earnestly desiring the gift ourselves. That’s exactly what Paul teaches despite all of the blatant abuses we see in these movements. Who would want to stand before God and hear Him say what Jesus said to the sadducees because they’re using their small carnal brains to examine their surroundings and make doctrines rather than believing what God says (Mark 12:24-27). These men are accusing others of doing this while they’re doing it much more blatantly expecting that folks won’t examine and test their claims like good Bereans and find them to be misaligned with the New Testament. We should hold them accountable for their false teachings just as they are holding those accountable for excesses and abuses of the gifts of the Spirit well.
Justin mentioning Benny Hinn selling Spurgeon books on his website beings back memories of a church i went to with the Pastor quite often talking of famous preachers of the past ( Johnathan Edwards, John Wesley, Spurgeon) but he never preached the gospel like they did. Nor did he believe the bible like they did. He believed for instance 3 different authors wrote Isaiah. Which is unbelief in the miraculous in that book.
@@JonJaeden It's obvious that certain gifts are not in practice today. If there is anyone with the gift of healing let him go to a children's hospital. Any one you know?

So where exactly in scripture does is indicate the gifts, signs, miracles, wonders etc. died off? Don’t get me wrong many in the charismatic movement have tainted such things, but if we believe the Bible to be true and we have access to the gospel and spirit, where does the Bible indicate the signs that follow them that believe died off?
In the New Testament, actually. Just read all the way through the book of Acts and you can see it waning, and then through Paul's epistles where he states that "I left Trophimus sick in Miletus" in 2 Timothy 4:20. By that time his handkerchiefs were no longer healing people. It's obvious and a good place to anchor one's understanding of the early church. Healing through individuals was present in the early church before scripture was written so that people could identify the difference between those who were sent by God and those who were not. After scripture was written so that people could read it and the Apostles had all but died off those miraculous healing through specific individuals were no longer needed. As Peter says "pay attention to the prophets and apostles" as a more sure word than even his own personal experience on the Mount of Transfiguration.
You’re right. There are many problems, but that should not be a reason to dismiss what Scripture says. When Paul was seeking to correct the numerous errors in Corinth, he didn’t say they were a false church, or say their gifts were false… rather, he corrected them, grappled with their questions, and most of all, emphasised their need for agape (love).
@@thecrew777 So the apostles died around ad 100 and then the church did not have personal copies of the bible until the printing press and reformation around 1600s. so youre telling me that most beleivers have had no gifts AND no bible for around 1400 years? the bible commands us to desire the gifts and paul says that it is a command of the Lord. How can we desire the gifts if we let men and tradition lead us away from God's commands. The bible does not teach that the gifts have ceased..
I couldn’t have imagined people having so little desire to read, listen to, and study God’s Word that they lazily trust the likes of any word-faith preachers, but here we are. So much of their false teaching requires almost no effort to refute.
I actually like this comment a lot, and would add a lot of other brands of modern Christianity to word of faith. Correct ! Jesus commands us to individually and diligently seek Him daily. That is our work, our light burden to bear, our cross.
That really is it. Reading/studying the Bible takes WORK. Most people don't read much these days. Even Christians. This is a huge issue that no one in Christian circles (that I can see) is addressing.
It’s not just reading. It’s reading with a mind that is devoted to serving and understanding. Serving entails learning how to love others, not reinforcing how you get your jollies. Understanding entails following solid rules of interpretation. WOF (and other -isms) totally ignores the rules, and therefore screws up service. That’s inherent from the parent movement, Pentecostalism.
The many errors of the charismatic movement cannot be ignored. I suggest Dr Craig Keener's book on Miracles. A proper scholarly, biblical approach to the topic
This is a good suggestion. However the cessationists commenting here are prideful & will not follow your recommendation. The unwillingness to consider that some charismatics are at fault for flawed execution & cessationists are at fault for unbelief & extremes of both camps are unhealthy & unbiblical is due to pride
the dead scholar is to be avoided just as a dead dog cannot bark! Did you have an experiential relationship with your parents - a relationship created by The LORD GOD? The CAUTION is that like The LORD JESUS in Matthew 4 you have to RECOGNIZE the voice of The LORD GOD as distinct from the deceiver/satan/the enemy
Paul makes clear in scripture that tongues should be interpreted. "If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret" 1 Corinthians 14 : 27 - I know very few Churches that follow this teaching.

"..It is wrong to think that the prophecy of Joel was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, or even in the first century of the church, or that it terminated with the apostles. To think this is to redefine the last days. Joel said in the last days, God would pour out His Spirit. The last days began with the ascension of Christ and will end with the coming of Christ. So this prophecy of Joel, although it was fulfilled there in the book of Acts 2, it should be continuing to be fulfilled throughout the history of the church. It still applies to us today. Also, It is wrong to think that the promise is only for the apostolic era. The amazing thing about Joel is not that the Spirit would be poured out on the leaders or poured out on the apostles, but that would it be poured out on the least among the people of God throughout the entire church age. I guess my question is this. How does this prophecy of Joel relate to you and relate to the church today..."- Paul Washer
I came out of the Greek orthodox church as a nominal Christian. It was the church of my upbringing and was very much a part of our life culturally! Later in life, I was confronted by a committed orthodox Christian who invited me to bible study. This is where my Christian journey began! I believe that the Lord used that which I was familiar with to get a grounding or a footing into searching for the truth! After some more years, as I had fallen away from any such Christian ideas and beliefs, I was reintroduced to evangelical Christianity. Eventually, I committed to christ and attended a pentecostal church for a number of years. Then that church closed up due to a shrinking congregation. So after some church hopping I found myself in a baptist church, where I am at to this day. Now I thought that I was a believer in the miraculous gifts, my ex pastor asked me if I believed in the miraculous gifts as outlined in scripture. My answer was an uneducated one, as I blurted out, "yes!" In win he replied well then your pentecostal! So fast forward 10 years and only recently, within the past last year, I'm now done away with believing in the miraculous gifts. My question is, where are those who make such claims like having the gift of healing and raising the dead etc
@@adamden9947 "WHY DON’T WE SEE MIRACLES TODAY LIKE OCCURRED IN THE BIBLE? Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. God is a God of miracles, but as we read the Scriptures it is clear that there were particular seasons when God worked in a miraculous way with greater intensity. For example, in the Old Covenant we see particularly around the Deliverance of Israel from Egypt in the Exodus, and the presenting of the Law, many astounding miracles. Then in the time of apostasy God worked many miracles through the prophets Elijah and Elisha. The greatest concentration of miracles ever seen was through the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Miracles are not normative, nor should we expect them on a regular basis. However, when giving the Great Commission our Lord did promise that signs would follow and at pioneer stages, such as the Day of Pentecost, birth of the Church, and the pioneering of the Gospel amongst the Samaritans, and to the Gentiles, more miracles took place. Much of what is claimed today by the Health, Wealth and Prosperity preachers is questionable and even fraudulent. However, there is no doubt that God is still working miracles today. Dr. Kurt Koch documented numerous miracles that took place during the Revivals in Indonesia and in KwaZulu. Perhaps you have read God Among the Zulus, by Kurt Koch? I have seen and witnessed numerous miracles, including physical healing, in the field on the frontline of the fulfillment of the Great Commission. They NEVER asked The LORD GOD BEFORE they prayed for HIS WILL. I asked them. They initiated it in their flesh. GET YOUR FACTS right before you curse yourself by believing and spreading LIES.
Miracles do happen today, its just that it doesnt happen through "man made idols and false teachers" because they do not have authority to heal. However, people are getting healed directly with a man from God if there is faith that God deems worthy.
Faith is either faith or it's not. There's no such thing as "unworthy faith" or it's not faith it's something other than faith. Faith pleases God. Without faith it's impossible to please him. if your faith doesn't please him it's not faith. It's a distinction but it's an important one as there's no such thing as faith that didn't work. If it didn't work it wasn't faith from the point were it ceased working.
The person used is ONLY A CHANNEL to heal and can be themselves unholy or have sin in their lives - this is seen in Matthew 7. The testimony of pastor John from Uganda confirms this TRUTH. He had hidden sexual sin in his life which The LORD GOD exposed and he was surprised because of the many healings etc in his ministry. The LORD JESUS told him that HE healed the people because HE LOVED THEM but HE did not approve of pastor John.
Praise and worship is a SPIRITUAL WEAPON if it is not just singing - unless you are BORN AGAIN and have The LORD JESUS living in you after REPENTANCE and speaking in other tongues of humans and/or angels - 1Corinthians 13:1, the worship would be an irritation because satan hates being attacked.
I was personally healed in church. I’ve seen it dozens of times. I went forward and the church leaders laid hands on me and prayed. I was immediately, physically, healed. We all rejoiced. I’m also relatively wealthy. I love the Lord with all my heart. Justin is just wrong and is bitter. His entire ministry is to justify his situation and condition. He’s a Word of Doubt peddler. Nothing new. People have historically used religion as a crutch for their failure, lack of success, and tragedies.
I have Neurofibromatosis and Cherubism (look them up) I am still waiting for any of the 100s if not 1000s who have read my post to refer me to their pastor for healing. People need to understand that cessationists do not believe that miracles can not happen. They just believe that the Lord God in His power does them as He sees fit to whom He sees fit. Prayer and faith can affect His decision to do so. They just dont think a person today has apostolic gifts to walk around healing and performing miracles as they see fit. This is the point. Yes, people have 💯 been healed, and miracles still take place. None bigger than every new believer who is saved by the grace of God through our savior Jesus the Christ. If there was a person who could perform said miracles. It wouldn't be that there is an epidemic of people with 1 leg shorter than the other by a fraction of an inch. It wouldnt be oh I have some invisible aliment that was healed. They would be visible, testible and evident that a miracle took place. Blind at birth recieves sight, peraplegic being able to walk. Ect....which never happens or at least has never been proven, validated or documented.
The gifts of the Spirit were given to the church. "Apostolic gifts" framing is a verbal sleight of hand meant to keep folks from questioning the assertion the gifts ceased with the death of the last Apostle.
The Scriptures do not say that any one person, other than Jesus, could heal at will. Rather, and I cannot prove it, rather, for example, Peter healed as the Spirit gave the unction to do so. The Apostles did not practice the gifts at will, but as the Spirit moved them. The gifts are not used Willy-nilly but as the Spirit willed. And these healings were given as evidence that God’s presence was alive and well, then and now. This, l believe, is the purpose of all the gifts. But whether l experience any of the gifts (and l have) l will remain grounded in the Word and in Christ. Blessings to all.
Justin, I believe cessationism is unscriptural. And I have watched too many of your programs undermining the faith of God's people. I believe you are accurate in your assessment of some of the false teachings in the churches. But I see way too much pleasure on your part as you mock and expose with a sarcastic attitude people who believe they're telling truth and truly do love the Lord. I believe repentance is in order on your part, sir, and a grieving, mourning, humble, and loving attitude in place of the self righteous, religious, and pharisaical attitude. How do you know...what if we're both wrong? Could we both have taken a right and privilege that only belongs to God Himself, Who is the judge? Think about it. Pray about it. Are you ready to go before God with this?
@@frankregg9048 Yeah, and there is nothing in the Bible that teaches or even hints at the idea that the gifts, signs and wonders would cease. Quite the opposite, Jesus said we would do greater works than He, because He goes to the Father. The church needs to be honest with itself and acknowledge that signs and wonders are few and far between, but then ask WHY? Something clearly is amiss. And it's pretty obvious the wester church is a combination of the Church of Thyatira and Laodicea, so we could start with fixing THOSE errors, but just making up some doctrine that God no longer has signs and wonders for the church, is not only unbiblical, that excuse allows us to not face the awful truth, that the Church is weak and impotent.
He did not condescend to come from His throne to earth to take on the sin of the world and die a painful death on the cross to be resurrected three days later ... so you wouldn't have back pain during your short life here on earth. I respect your views on miracles, signs, and wonders; however, I truly believe that God, through His Son Jesus Christ, is still working miracles, signs, and wonders among His people.

Gifts if ceased would mean that even knowledge has ceased. Healing is real, biblical healing is real. Referencing certain Charismatic leaders and movements as the reason we allude that the move of God isn’t real is actually unbiblical and I would say bordering on heresy against sound biblical doctrine of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. If God can’t heal, or use people to heal them He really isn’t the Lord God Almighty, is He? God heals, He does signs, wonders and miracles even today. If you don’t believe it then read the book. All this cessationism talks aren’t biblical and let’s not entertain this and be in danger of leading people astray in the hot pursuit of the prosperity gospel. My husband praise God has been instrumental in me coming out of the deception, but honestly it messes with your head. I am so sad right now about my cat and the only thing that brings comfort is knowing God will wipe away every tear because of His grace and not dependent on my beliefs in Him or my prayer life. Thank you G3 ministries for bringing truth.
I'm with you in your fear and sadness about your cat. Your love for your cat is beautiful and so is his/her love for you. May G-d bless you with reunion!
The hyper Charasmatic church and Reformed Church are two faces of the same coin. I see no difference between the fruits of either camp, both are rotten and discrace the Gospel.
"The charismatic movement' is very diverse. Finding problems with some charismatics doesn't enable the criticism of others. All criticisms must be biblically founded. The cessationists have never come up with a biblical objection to gifts now. So the issue is correction of abuse not advocation of disuse. Anything else is of the flesh.
Justin, what is your take on Andrew Wommack? He seems more Scripturally grounded and down to earth than the others that you mentioned. I am in agreement with you on so many of these WOF leaders. I grew up just down the road from old Lakewood, and have been to a Benny Hinn production. I witnessed so much of what you said, and even another sleight of hand manuever that they used, but I am hitting some roadblocks on cessation. In an opening statement you said, "So, I tell people that the very fact that there's even a debate today as to whether or not the sign gifts continue to be operative is self-evident proof that they're not. When Jesus healed the blind, dumb demoniac, one group was questioning if He was not indeed the Son of Man, and another was declaring Him to be empowered by the prince of demons. Now, that's debate; debate with eternal consequences. Surely, you're not joining them in saying that this miracle was not [Godly] operative, simply because there was divergent views on how He was restoring him. We can't say "Well, HE'S Jesus!", because Jesus is God, and we are instructed to be imitators of God. Should we also extrapolate this view into the hosts of debates about God's very existence, and say, "I guess this means that God doesn't exist."? Josh even said that You were gifted, and you are -- gifted at discerning charlatans in particular. Nonetheless, due to the severe repercussions of being wrong, I would go about this cautiously, with fear and trembling, before boldly standing your ground, always doing this on a case-by-case basis, not in a blanket fashion. I have witnessed many churches doing gifts just like you described. I have also seen one church do them in a way that glorified God. This should be no suprise, since Paul said that he would that ALL spoke in tongues, not just all of you in Corinth who are apostles After all, the same Bible that said that these gifts would pass away, also said that heaven and earth would pass away. The last I checked, we are having this dialogue on planet Earth. I believe that just like the "feel good" churches who have abandoned certain scriptures over the years, we too, have only favored our OWN verses that we are comfortable with. Keep up the good work and let me know what you think.
The problem with people like Justin Peters is that they turn people away from actually seeking the Holy Spirit in his fullness and in the way that God intends for any true follower of Him and Jesus. Going to an extreme and choosing the most extreme representation of a truly false movement, to make it appear that those who truly have the Holy Spirit and hear his voice are crazy. The fact is this man and so many others are living as reprobates and they lead people away from the true filling of the Holy Spirit. They are the blind leading the blind. Please seek God not any man, especially this man Justin Peters. We are to seek God, his holy Spirit and ask God to lead us into all truth and of course we need to repent of our sins giving our sins to the one who died for them, Jesus and thanking God for his forgiveness of our sins through the sacrifice he provided in Jesus.
Not true. Justin Peters has the Holy Spirit just as I do and any true Christian does. The antics of those in the charismatic movement are identical to those of people in the Kundalini cult out of India and Africa. These are demonic manifestations, not any kind of act of the Holy Spirit. It is not in God's nature nor did it ever cross His mind to make people bark like dogs or shake spasmodically.
Exactly. We are to be Bereans. I mean, the Bereans actually checked out the Apostle Paul, and were commended for it. Here's a scripture that I find useful, from time to time: "The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice." Php.1:18b NIV, 1984 Edition I suspect if Justin Peters initially had a Born Again experience, he might have softened his tune just a little. It appears that his was a quiet conversion. Anyways, Cheers and God bless. 👍

We bona fide Christians must stand up for and promote this!!
I grew up Pentecostal, but never submitted to Jesus until Jan 21, 2021 when The Holy Spirit opened my eyes. I joined a WOF church and it only took me 2 months to realize there was something wrong with the teaching. The pastor said numerous times “I don’t care if you don’t see the healing/answer to prayers, I live by faith and trust in the Word of God” I took that to mean “fake it till you make it”. His grown daughter told my son that she can choose when she dies. WOF does not respect the sovereignty of God, and elevates man. Same thing Satan does. Even though I knew something was wrong 2 months in, it took me 2 years to leave. And I was hurt and angry and in disbelief that many of my friends I had made were part of the “cult”. Justin was a major part of me getting the courage to lovingly confront my pastor and ultimately leave and find a new Bible believing church.
@@GreaterThanWealthThanks for the reply. This is one of the go-to verses often used in Word of Faith teachings. We cannot go against the Word of God, and faith is central to what we believe. However, 1 John 5:14 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything **according to His will**, He hears us." God answers according to **His** will, not ours. Being human, we don’t always know what His will is. So when-inevitably-something we ask for doesn’t come to pass, whose fault is it? It can't be God’s fault, so it must be ours for not having enough faith, right? This is a terrible, hypocritical doctrine that elevates man and diminishes God.
@@lelohadebe9122 According to Isaiah, "By his stipes we are healed". When Jesus on the cross said "It is finished" he paid the debt so that we dont have to pay the death penalty for sin. When the Lord calls us home, we will also have brand new bodies, perfect health. In this life, why would we expect to have perfect health when we dont live perfect lives? (Sanctification) Despite this, God blesses us everyday, sometimes even with miraculous healing. But even if God chooses to heal you now, one day this body will die. Only then will we have perfect health.
Jesus is not calling you to attack other Christians or movements. He's called you to love people and establish the kingdom of God on the earth. People who continually attack other Christians are just afraid to take the Gospel into the world. This is the same spirit of the Pharisees.
Not true. 1 Tim 4:13 says: Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. This is only one example. We are called to exhort error.
There’s a matter of balance. If you refuse to correct error, you are in disobedience to multiple commands of scripture, and certainly not as loving as you think you are. Phariseeism was about earning salvation; your name-calling is incorrect.
@br.m Please tell me your joking. I was quoting Christ, but you don't even recognize His words?

Agreed, sincerity is no guarantee for truth.
Do you believe anyone in the world has the gift of healing?
You’re right, but I think the issue is the movement and its effects.
If you go by what scripture says then you would run from calvinism
Amen❤
I'm totally in agreement with you. God has people all over this world that may never be seen on social media, that He is using to heal His people. And they don't have to do it on the same level that the Apostles did it. Only God can make that decision! God is still performing signs and wonders today, all over the world.

True, but “almost right“ does not describe the movement.

He's speaking directly about the corrupt Charismatic movement, not genuine, independent, verified healing from God.

They believe that way because they can't get a manifestation from God. Mainly because most are carnal Christians. We serve a supernatural God who born His Son through a virgin birth, who said we would do all the things Jesus did and more. Bottom line is they don't believe the word of God.

Me too - it's actually God's words - so edifying to me .

Great discussion on the word of faith movement. An eye opener on deception used by false teachers.
I also was Pentecostal and know all what you say. I’m now Reformed faith, also known as Calvinism.
In the initial outpouring of the holy spring there were two types of examples of tongues, those who heard their own language and those who thought it was drunken jibber ish .
You realised that in the book of acts many people could not understand the unknown tongues and accused people of being intoxicated , just like the reformed / Calvinist do, they too are like the unbelievers who accused them of speaking jibber ish and are in denial of Gods mighty works, ( well done )
Whilst I am not a charismatic I couldn’t imagine limiting and boxing god into a single decree, a god that decrees “ all events, no rogue molecule “ a god who creates humans and then fills them with his own desires, be wicked or pure, like pre programmed robotrons.
To become a Calvinist is to deny the biblical God of LOVE,
yes God in essence is LOVE.
Calvinism hates Gods sovereignty and LOVE..
Paul adressed the issue about tongues sounding like gibberish to unbelievers and the unlearned:
" _ Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are [f]out of your mind? _ " 1Cor14:23
This is because tongues don't sound like regular earthly languages and if you have a carnal mind, you'll think someone speaking in tongues is "out of their mind".
"Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." Romans 8:7
Tongues is the one gift God gave the church for self edification, to strenghten your faith, build up your inner man, walk in the spirit, do spiritual wafare. It is such a beautiful beautiful gift! God said through Paul He wishes we would ALL speak in tongues.God bless you
@@faustinem9071
I don't think Paul was talking about gibberish.
Charismatics prefer their feelings and sensual experiences over plain, obvious scripture.
What is the "plain, obvious scripture" that tells us the gifts have ceased?
no, the Holy Spirit has become an active person in our walk. Not dead, like Calvinism

@@adamden9947
"WHY DON’T WE SEE MIRACLES TODAY LIKE OCCURRED IN THE BIBLE?
The one person I know in South Africa who has witnessed the most miracles would be Rev. Erlo Stegen, the Founder and Director of KwaSizabantu Mission. You may wish to communicate with him through mail@KwaSizabantu.org.za You may also be interested in communicating with Rev. Greg Denysschen of Jivannadi Mission ( greg@jivannadi.org.za); Greg Denysschen has a tremendous deliverance ministry and has witnessed extraordinary moves of God as he has ministered amongst the Hindus.

Is there something wrong with contending in prayer for miracles? You don’t call yourself a believer do you?

You have a small God. My God can do anything....
The gifts of the Spirit were given to the church. "Apostolic gifts" framing is a verbal sleight of hand meant to keep folks from questioning the assertion the gifts ceased with the death of the last Apostle.
JP denies that God gives dreams and visions today which itself is a lie.
@@moniquemulder9857 So who has the gift of healing today then?

The cessationist cult cannot Biblically support their position. Their opinions are based on their own experiences and not based on God's Word.
Justin, what is your take on Andrew Wommack? He seems more
Scripturally grounded and down to earth than the others that you

leaders. I grew up just down the road from old Lakewood, and have
been to a Benny Hinn production. I witnessed so much of what you
said, and even another sleight of hand manuever that they used,
but I am hitting some roadblocks on cessation.
In an opening statement you said, "So, I tell people that the very fact that there's even a debate today as to whether or not the sign
gifts continue to be operative is self-evident proof that they're not.
When Jesus healed the blind, dumb demoniac, one group was
questioning if He was not indeed the Son of Man, and another was
declaring Him to be empowered by the prince of demons. Now, that's
debate; debate with eternal consequences. Surely, you're not joining
them in saying that this miracle was not [Godly] operative, simply
because there was divergent views on how He was restoring him.
We can't say "Well, HE'S Jesus!", because Jesus is God, and we are
instructed to be imitators of God. Should we also extrapolate this
view into the hosts of debates about God's very existence, and say,
"I guess this means that God doesn't exist."?
Josh even said that You were gifted, and you are -- gifted at
discerning charlatans in particular. Nonetheless, due to the severe
repercussions of being wrong, I would go about this cautiously,
with fear and trembling, before boldly standing your ground,
always doing this on a case-by-case basis, not in a blanket fashion.
I have witnessed many churches doing gifts just like you described.
I have also seen one church do them in a way that glorified God.
This should be no suprise, since Paul said that he would that ALL
spoke in tongues, not just all of you in Corinth who are apostles
After all, the same Bible that said that these gifts would
pass away, also said that heaven and earth would pass away.
The last I checked, we are having this dialogue on planet Earth.
I believe that just like the "feel good" churches who have abandoned
certain scriptures over the years, we too, have only favored our OWN
verses that we are comfortable with.
No, he's not turning people away from thr Holy Spirit. He's turning people away from false teachers like Copeland
Exactly. We are to be Bereans. I mean, the Bereans actually checked out the Apostle Paul, and were commended for it.
