    Shop Marshall CODE100 - 100 Watt Guitar Amp Combo: goo.gl/KMSa2r
    Marshall CODE100H - 100 Watt Head: goo.gl/9cVcXg
    Full Marshall CODE Series: goo.gl/yjdSPD
    In this review and demo, Dagan gives us a closer look at the awesome sounds within the Marshall CODE100 - 100 watt guitar amplifier and provides plenty of examples to show us exactly why this is the ultimate amplifier for fans of iconic amplifier tones.
    Thanks to the innovative Marshall Softube technology, or MST for short, the Marshall CODE 100 is loaded with a world of possibilities.
    Thanks to the MST modeling, marshall have perfectly recreated an entire studio’s worth of Marshall’s most popular and iconic amplifiers spanning over 50 years. This means you have 14 MST Preamps, four MST power amps and eight MST speaker cabinets to choose from allowing you to sculpt your own tones or dial in classic amps such as the first combo amp made by Marshall, the Silver Jubilee and the JCM2000 DSL100 plus many more.
    In addition, 24 professional quality effects have also been included such as Delay and Reverb, distortion and more. Best of all you can run up to 5 of these together at the same time, making it a great choice for professional musicians and those who want to create their own unique music from one amplifier.

    Just picked this head up w/ matching cab. For the price, it's an absolutely AMAZING setup. The tones, decay, attack, and even the dynamics (hitting strings soft vs heavy) are incredibly dialed in. It's like having $100K worth of Marshall amps in one box. Actually started taking this to gigs :) Highly recommend the optional Marshall PEDL-91009- the pedal that comes with it works fine, but the upgraded pedal lets you set banks of sounds, making it feel like Pete Cornish himself set up a MIDI pedal board for you.

    I set mine up for Jazz and Blues. I selected an American Clean (Fender) amp and cab, and tremolo and reverb and adjusted the EQ to taste and use minimal gain. results: 200 watt 212 cab with a Jazz amp character. The tremolo and reverb are good. The Fender clean is very good and the cab simulation is good. Overall I now have a UNIQUE Jazz/Blues combo amp.
    Most Jazz amps are SS and now digital is a newer version of SS. The computer chip inside is very sophisticated and Marshall worked wit a world renown company that specializes in digital modelling. I have a great Jazz amp. I also have the 50 watt 1x12 version. I'm blessed.
    Oh the Code 100 watt 212 has an 8 ohm speaker out jack on the back and also an effects loop.

  • @eriknjoo
    @eriknjoo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have just bought the Code 100, and I was really excited about it having read the description and watched the demo videos. The amp does sound amazing, but yesterday, on the first occasion that I actually tried the amp during band practice, I was shocked to discover that when I step on the provided (2-way) footswitch to change presets (like activate one with distortion or heavy delay) mid-song, the flow of the sound broke, there was a moment of silence before it switched to the next preset. I've been trying to research this on the Internet, but have only found 2 instances of it being addressed, no one talks about this in review videos or blogs. This baffles me - how is (mostly) everyone ok with this?
    This effectively makes it impossible to use the built-in effects of the amp, which is exactly what its main outstanding feature is. Why have a 100 presets when you can't switch mid-song? Are guitarists only supposed to use the Code family to select the main sound they want for a certain song, then keep using pedals for changes mid-song?
    I'm extremely disappointed, since the built-in effects were the main reason I went for this amp - I wanted to use this as both an amp and a multi-effect board to some extent. Is there any fix for this? A firmware update maybe, or does the separately-sold Code pedal make a difference?
    Seriously considering returning it at this point.

    • @TheKevinNewsom
      @TheKevinNewsom ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you end up returning it?

    • @eriknjoo
      @eriknjoo ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TheKevinNewsom No, I bought the Code 4-way footswitch which has a setting where you can use it as an effect switch, so rather than switching between two entirely separate presets, it turns assigned effects on and off instantly (so no delay as experienced in the preset mode). Not the exact thing I wanted but a workaround I can live with.

    About time, I've been waiting for this demo , bought one of these just before Christmas. Fecking awesome amplifier. Use a hand held device (phone, tablet), and you can save your setting to the hand held, take it with you and connect to any other Code amp and use your settings. • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's loud trust me. Plus you have an effects loop, can use booster pedals in front if you choose and have a speaker out option so you can plug it into a 4 x 12 if you want (but then I would suggest turning off the cab emulation if you did that, but hey, experimentation is the order of the day). I've seen people gigging with the 50 watt version with no issues. I really do love this amp. I do suggest you get the additional footswitch though. • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It comes with on board effects such as distortion, overdrive and the ubiquitous Marshall Governor. The only reason I use external pedals as well is because I already had the pedals beforehand. I have the Code 100w Combo. It's a steal @ $300.. no joke. My last Marshall was a Vintage Modern 50w Combo (also 2x12") Back then I had a really nice 59 Les Paul Junior and they went so well together. So expressive, that P-90 in the Jr. would growl with the best but then roll back the guitar volume and the tone goes clean, like Fender clean lol.. then roll the volume back up on the guitar and you get that delicious creamy Marshall distortion.
    I've not played any other modeling amp or even a good pedal-board setup that gave me that same response that you get from a vintage Les Paul playing on a fat KT66 equipped Marshall. I was very impressed how good this amp recreates that via solid-state hardware and some serious software from Softube..
    I love many of the stock tones, they all need a slight tweaking but quite usable. The quality of the effects are as impressive as the endless options for pre amps-power amps- and even speaker cabinet options. My Code 100 combo has the option for external speaker which I believe the 25 and 50 watt versions lack.
    Physically, my Code 100 combo seems way lighter and smaller than my old Marshall Vintage Modern combo. I love the Marshall app on my iPad it's so much easier than anything else out there and it works great.

      I have both, they both have their strengths. the Marshal is a killer sounding amp, but lacks some features the Fender GT200 (the model I have )has, which is a stereo XLR speaker compensated output, and an expression pedal option in addition to the channels/preset pedal. I lke both of them equally well, Oh, the Marhall is mono and the Fender GT 200 is true stereo with two FX send/returns. Actually, if you know what you're doing the Fender will run with the Marshall, but the Marshall sounds better out of the box. It takes a while to learn the Fender, it has a ton of options, like choose able rectifier settings, sag settings, amp tone settings, which is where a lot of people mistake the Fender for being not as bright, it can be really present. It's a real wonder, but the Marshall just sounds like a mean bugger straight out of the box All this, IMHO of course. YMMV. Good luck.

    I've bought a code 100 combo last year. I seem to be the only one in here who doesn't like it. The presets sound way to harsh, even with the treble completely dialed back. On the contrary of what is said below, I don't think it likes pedals that much. Which is a pity because I'm a pedal guy. When I compare it to my old Roland Cube 80gx, I'd pick the last one instantly.

  • @charleslivingston803
    @charleslivingston803 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It doesn’t sound bad. It also doesn’t great. The tone is more like a mic’d amp through monitors than what an amp sounds like in a room. I have nothing against digital sims; I use plugins for recording every day and love it. But I can’t understand the obsession with getting an amp that has 20+ mediocre sounds when you could get one amp with one great sound that makes you want to play all the time. Guitarists used to buy larger amps for performance and a small Princeton or Champ for practice, and this seemed to work very well.
    If you are so dependent on minuscule aspects of a tone signal that you feel you can’t get “your sound” without such, then you haven’t practiced enough. Get a decent tube amp, plug in and play. That was good enough for every guitar player that ever mattered.
