Man these amps sound fantastic I own both 50 and 25 along with the footswitch. The amount of effects and styles and controls on these things are killer. usb recording with no hiccups or issues with sound or recording quality. These amplifiers truly prove you can jam on a budget and still get that traditional Marshall sound without dropping thousands of dollars being a follower.
Just played a 2x12 100 model at guitar center on a ab switch to a jcm800 and the difference can only be heard at live volume. Tubes have balls and cut ...But!!! Lots of cool settings amps etc. 400$ for a 2x12 and your home recording etc. Great home amp so fuck all the haters yelling its not tube! Yeah its also not 4000$ dollars lmao
Doesn't sound nearly as bad as I thought it would. I generally don't care for modeling amps. I prefer good old tube amps, but these do a surprisingly good job of replicating a lot of those amps. Typically modeling amps such as Line 6 sound like garbage, but these amps sound surprisingly good for what they had to work with. Plus it's Marshall, and they're legendary.
Just left a music store and played one of these. The Code 100 sounded so good I asked the clerk what the amp was I was hearing in the other room. It was a 14 year old grooving!!! This amp does not sound bad in the least. I've played everything! everything! Fractal, helix, zoom, tech 21, everything direct and floor modeling imaginable. This sounds amazing in person!
WHOA WHOA, I RECOGNIZE THIS GUY, HE WAS IN A BAND CALL GRIM REAPER(I HAD TO LOOK UP THE NAME OF THE BAND BY THE NAME OF THEIR SONG SEE YOU IN HELL) THAT HAS TO BE THE SAME GUY, WHAT GAVE IT AWAY WAS THE SAME GUITAR HE HAD IN THE VIDEO FOR THE SONG AND A DEMO HE DID FOR MARSHALL A COUPLE YEARS AGO
He mentions a 'looper' but other than the 'looper' amp setting, which just has a very long delay, my Code 25 does not have a proper looper. Is that feature coming in a firmware update?
I use Laney amps but I saw this in Guitar World and figured I'd look into it. I like it; think I'll put it on Sweetwater & get the 4 way footswitch too perhaps...
great sounding amp, cool thing about this amp is that it's got that great British sound. I am kind of a purist though the only kind of amp I will play is a tube amp cause that what i like.
Anyway about the amps they are ok if you can’t afford a hand wired JTM 45 or JCM 800/900 I own a 100w jmd head and it is such an underrated amp though in base mode it taps into 4 EL34’s its an amp that can do any rock gig.
The AC/DC emulation had way too much gain for any era of their tones! Angus never had that much Gain! sounded like angus on a JVM with the gain maxed! lol
Gotta get 1. I had 2 take back my Fender gt mustang 40 after 1 month 2 weeks cause,it made a snap sound after the digital Fender sign went away to amp settings. Hope Marshall won't do that after the same time
Anyone tried to double check the real number of combinations possible? I think the number he gave is wrong. Are these permutations or combinations? I know engineers like maths so someone should have already calculated it :-p
please Marshall, I hope you introduce some good stuff this time at Namm. I love Marshall, I own six of them with various cabs but the code series are just bad. Starting with build quality, cheap speakers etc.
They didn't do a good job showcasing the amp imo. I use an eq pedal to clean up the amp a bit because it's really muddy at times, and that made it sound much more authentic as well
Jt Hodges You might be right there JT. I thought the 50 sounded fuller with its bigger speaker, but a lot of the crunch/dist tones still sounded very harsh and sterile.
yeah all these "Modeler amps" get the clean tone no sweat but when it comes to a really good OD tone not so much. At least the CODE has a better OD than Line 6 and fender mustangs which i thought was the worst i heard. Both were flubby and undefined. These are priced reasonably at least. I mean $250 for a 50 watt 1x12" combo with built in effects is fair.
derrio6871 they sounds very good. and replicate way better than a lot of new modeling amps but if you wanna feel the tube feeling go and buy a tube amp is the only way
BEFORE ANY1 COMPLAINS ABOUT THINGS NOT BEING PLAYED RIGHT, ITS ON PURPOSE PEOPLE, THESE GUYS ARE BOTH PRO'S, THEY CAN PLAY ANYTHING THEY WANT
Nick Bowcott's a great spokesperson. He's funny, entertaining, and a great player.

I don't understand what is so bad about these amps. They don't sound any different than tube amps to my ears.I would use this live for gigging anytime.

This band is a country band..... LMFAO!!! That was great.
Sounds good! Especially as just a nice practice amp. I would buy for home use!

I'm getting the small one. Gotta give it a try..
Grim Reaper famous Nick Bocott cheers Paul! great amp

So I guess I’m calling them replicants now👌🏽
love the humor on this one

Good detective work my friend. The cats out of the bag now folks now Nick will be swamped with fan mail because of you....
I keeed
MB215 bahahahaaha no way! Hilarious! No wonder why he only played 80's shred style riffs.
honestly, seeing this video made me go play on my code 25 haha
He mentions a 'looper' but other than the 'looper' amp setting, which just has a very long delay, my Code 25 does not have a proper looper. Is that feature coming in a firmware update?
Great point about single only connection enabled to the amp. I wondered about that (computer engineer). Thanks for bringing that up.
I use Laney amps but I saw this in Guitar World and figured I'd look into it. I like it; think I'll put it on Sweetwater & get the 4 way footswitch too perhaps...
Guys may I ask you all, what's the best settings/channel etc for playing blues on? Would really like some help here as a newbie. Thank you fellas.
What preset is he using at 6:00 ? Cuz I love the Overdrive on it the rest of the Overdrive effects sound crappy.
Have they learned we don't like that they haven't released the Code 100?!I need a Code 1000!
!!
I would love to know some of Nick's settings.
Ashamed to admit that I didn't recognize the mystery tone at 5:20 - who was that?
That's the most hair I've ever seen on Nick Bowcott's head.
It's all free?! Paul can you send me a Marshall Code 25 please?😂
Is the code 50 good with standard stomp boxes?
great sounding amp, cool thing about this amp is that it's got that great British sound. I am kind of a purist though the only kind of amp I will play is a tube amp cause that what i like.
Nick is a awsome dude!
Nick Bowcott is right, we really do need to go to rehab
Their much older JMD amps had the same third party soft tube company design. Maybe these have different algorithms not sure.
It's about time he brought somebody on who can play!
Was that Randy at 6:06? I was hoping they were gonna do him.
Yes it was a drastic variation of the song "I dont know" off the first record.
Jack Boulter yes it was their own version of "I don't know"
Jack Boulter yep it's based on the song I don't know on blizzard of ozz
does this have foot switch are the patches tweakable/Save.
Wait does anyone know if I can save like a sound that I customly made and be able to activate it on the foot switch later. If so how do you do that.

hmmm not bad... how much?
The AC/DC emulation had way too much gain for any era of their tones!

does any one know if it can be used as an FRFR say for example into m Kemper???
ashtweth no it can't. Sorry
i imaging how its the cost of one of those
Where i can buy this Slash shirt?! It's fucking awsome!
Are these amp's open or closed back?
michael linton Closed.
Great. I bloody fucking hate open-back speaker cabinets!
Haha!!! Nick is awesome!
Better than Line 6!
and this guy is funny! :P You should bring him back sometime!
Haha!!! You made my night ..
Good bless Nick, you have to be able to really play to be a demo spokesperson. Practice, practice, practice🙏
David Marshall there's nothing wrong with it. Not everyone can be a virtuoso. He did good enough for a demo about the sounds...not his playing.
Anyone tried to double check the real number of combinations possible? I think the number he gave is wrong. Are these permutations or combinations? I know engineers like maths so someone should have already calculated it :-p

me wanty
VERY good clean sounds, the rest... meh! The only OD sound I thought sounded 1/2 decent, was the 'Maiden' tone. The rest, sounded digitally.
They didn't do a good job showcasing the amp imo. I use an eq pedal to clean up the amp a bit because it's really muddy at times, and that made it sound much more authentic as well
Jt Hodges
You might be right there JT.

DMSProduktions I totally agree, clean is ok.

DMSProduktions Try turning off power AMP and Cabs....sounds much more realistic .
Sounds like a digital modelling amp... For practice at home or kids learning or teaching lessons etc...NOT a professional gigging amplifier.
Super brittle sounding. As a Plexi owner, I'm almost sad this has the Marshall name on the front.
first
Hey it’s mr rude “if you don’t know who randy rhoads is hang your head in shame and get out” what a pillock.
What about making your amp sound like you ? Anyway these amps sound really bad that's all, don't try to hide it.
derrio6871 they sounds very good. and replicate way better than a lot of new modeling amps but if you wanna feel the tube feeling go and buy a tube amp is the only way
Not sure what sucks more, these amps or the playing....or Paul's hair
