I watched Dave Attell live twice in my life. The second time was like a 2 hour set at some shithole in Lansing, MI. I have never laughed so hard for so long I’m my life. My all time favorite comedian. I think I’ve listened to Skanks for the memories at least 1000 times. This interview with Howard is amazing. He literally can’t be serious for more than 15 seconds. 😂
I think that was the album where he had the line, "...don't get me wrong, I like to cuddle. But there's such a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away..." That would be hard to get away with saying nowadays...
Attell walkd into the Starbucks I worked at in NYC back in 2009. I looked up and there he was waiting for me to make his coffee. I mentioned how much the memory of watching Insomniac with my late brother, meant to me and he was such a great guy. We talked for a bit, as he was on some break from doing a voiceover in the neighborhood. Such an awesome guy.
Saw Dave in the early 2000’s, Ohio, had no idea who he was. I remember the first two comedians absolutely bombing. I was on a date with a hot young lady and I remember how no one laughed at the first two comedians and it sucked the energy out of the room and our date. ... But then Dave came on, worked his comedic genius and I’ve never heard such howling laughter, the entire place, every single person, staff included was uncontrollably laughing. And the louder we howled, Dave would bring the mic closer to annunciate precisely and clearly, almost yelling, making us laugh even harder... It was an experience I’ll never forget, and,,, he got me nicely laid. Thanks Dave!!!!
I absolutely loved that pure realness in bringing Howard’s skills to the forefront which annoyed him when a staff member comes in shooting questions in interviews………..if its a good one he oozes out jealousy ‼️
Dave Attell is one of those comics I just never got into. I like everything I've seen him in, my adult-onset ADHD just won't let me get into him. It's like in the 90's when you would channel flip and see 10 minutes of a movie, and you would say, "wow this looks like a great movie," but then you would never watch it. Or maybe you do watch it 20 years later, and you're like, "wow that was a great movie.". I feel like that's going to be me getting into Dave Attell. But probably not today. Sorry for adding nothing to your day.

In Basra, Iraq the workers on base were primarily Filipinas and other south east Asian women. We had Pizza Hut, Burger King, and Subway for fast food and all were horrible. We had a legit Starbucks which was always crowded because it had the best air conditioning on base. There was also a coffee kiosk that was basically bootleg Starbucks. The hottest woman on the base ran the kiosk and she flirted very shamelessly so they were probably absolutely raking in the cash.

one of the best shows to ever be on tv was “up late with dave attell” where he showed the night life of various american cities. that show was so good and so different than anything i’ve seen.
I’m gonna call it and say Artie is absolutely high on heroin in this video. Also, Howard gets mildly annoyed when he keeps talking because Howard wants to break.
I noticed a lot of moments during Artie's heroin-at-work years where Howard gets snippy with him. Howard knows Artie is going to go on a full 7 minute long druggie story and can't put up with that shit. I know as a listener I often couldn't stand it either.
Yes, you can tell when Artie goes on a tangential ramble, where he's kind of making a coherent point, or trying extra hard to, but without any real point or humour to it...it's like he's trying to tick boxes, without actually saying anything interesting. Compare that with the razor-sharp Artie when he's sober, or at least just on subutex...also the growl in his voice gives it away..
When was this podcast? Last time I seen Artie he lost weight,shaved, had white hair,and was sober, here he's heavy,salt/pepper hair and seems slighly slurry buzzed.
