If you have HDMI CEC you can have the tv turn on the amp and then the sub in standby mode.

      That's a drawback

Technically it can do macros but it's very finicky.
Have an LG HTS, nothing premium but it powers on/off automatically (not using CEC) when an audio source is detected. Don't even use the HDMI for it, just optical TOSLINK.

Hey, this a great video, thank you. I’ve been searching for a universal programmable remote control for more than 10 years, since my beloved “Home Theater Master MX-500” was discontinued and is now irreplaceable. This is the first one I’ve seen that can do that at anything approaching a reasonable price.
You touched upon one issue of being able to download the functions of the remote to a new device. The MX-500 has a “clone” function, whereby you point one to another and the device functions are duplicated or cloned. Another indispensable option is the “Macro” function. I have programmed a “System” button on my MX-500 to turn on my tv, then my sound bar, then wait 5 seconds and maximise the screen. This is alluded to in the bumph for the u2. Could you play with this and let us have an update?
Once again, thanks for the review. I can’t wait to get my hands on one (or 2🤣) of these when it’s released in the UK on 25th July 2024.

Does this remote have backlit keys? (Thank you for a helpful review)

Like that it uses AA batteries instead of charging. I use rechargeable AA/AAA. It is cool that you could program a cooler remote!! Will it work with DISH satellite?

I just ordered one yesterday because my Harmony 650 is 11 years old and all the buttons are failing. This one is nice but it can only go so far. For example the lack of physical keys with symbols limits what you can program and remember. For example, some symbols on your newair aren't on any keys, so if you program many more devices with odd functions you can't remember what key goes with what function. How did I raise the humidity on my zippy 650 air gizmo? Oh was it the rewind key? The ideal remote would have a touch screen with a couple hundred symbols available to program so each device could have it's own screen like the original remote. But it is what it is. Thanks.

My advise, order a keypad membrane repair kit. Along with some T-7000 adhesive. Don't bother with the conductive paint stuff, flakes off in a few weeks.
Still nothing on the market comes close to a Harmony.

No. You can see the screen in the dark but not the buttons.

Being able to store or download codes on a database would be MONUMENTAL if they had a user sharing feature. Imagine being able to download the NewAir remote or w/e because someone already stored it. Course, it’d have to have an organization feature that requires type of electronic (fan, etc) and model. Would be crazy

Is it IR or RF? A customer on Amazon who owns one replied to my Question "Is this Compatible with the Roku Ultra via RF so if you have the Roku Ultra Behind the TV or Entertainment System out or IR Range can you still control it?"
They responded "The U2 is a IR Remote, so in a word ....No."
But in the images of the remote on Amazon it says on the back of the remote Bluetooth Remote.
The Roku Ultra uses a Bluetooth connection with it's remote and has an option to add a new remote.

I got a question for you. I have a Logitech Harmony still. This one is slow, always 1-2 sek before the next button works. To slow to rename a record on my blurays recorder. How about that point with the U2. Couldn't find any information about that.

    • @GoTechGeek
      @GoTechGeek  ปีที่แล้ว

Does not seem slow at all to me but I don't have a Harmony to compare it with. When I press the power button for my appliances it is instant.

With harmony you can adjust the button delay. Though could be for your specific device a longer delay is necessary. Would have to experiment.

No backup and restore capability? That’s not a remote. It’s a time bomb.
