    SofaBaton U2 Smart Remote Setup & Adding Devices Demo
    This is my absolute favorite Universal Remote Control. It's nearly perfect. It has all the keys you would expect any remote control to have. The Layout is great for all the keys you use the most. This upgraded U2 version has a strong IR Blaster to easily reach and control your devices from across the room. You can program it using the app which gives you easy access to thousands of devices using the brand and model #. You can customize the keys to your liking and create macros that do multiple things. It's super simple to switch between devices, but you can also control multiple devices from a single remote through customization. The remote is light weight and sits nice in the hands. You don't need to charge it as it runs on batteries which last a long time. It really is an excellent universal remote control and the one I use and love the most. The U2 is an upgraded version from the U1 that has stronger IR blaster, thicker buttons, improved battery compartment and slightly more ergonomic design. This video is an unboxing just to take a close look at the features and the remote.

      Yeah, it takes just a good explanation or a little bit of playing around to figure it out, but once you get it, it’s super quick and easy to set up macros which I love.

    Great information. However, the Home button will not work as a home button. It’s rather a pause button. I have a vizio tv remote. It’s home button takes me to Vizio home (from netflix or TH-cam etc). I tried creating a macro button on several different buttons available on my Sofabaton U2 remote using Home button as the option, but , again, it will only act as a pause button. I tried “ learn from existing remote” and it just kept saying learning forever and never connected, although remote connected initially no problem. Any advise?

    Can you set macros to the screen above the scroll wheel? Like have a list of macros on the screen, select the macro from the list with the scroll wheel, and then press a button to execute that macro? That's what my Logitech Harmony remote allows me to do, so I'm looking for a remote that can eventually replace that.

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope. The "list" is only to select the remote and you don't even press anything to select it - you scroll to it - those are the remote commands the buttons will execute. You could in theory, after putting in all your remotes, create a new remote entitled "macros" and then assign only macros of actions to the buttons so you scroll to "macros" in the list then push the button on the remote that is the macro you want to execute. Basically two button pushes just like with the Harmony EXCEPT with the Harmony you may have to scroll over several screens to get to the Macro you want if you have a lot of them and with this method on the SofaBaton you'd be able to super quickly scroll to macros and then push the button to execute the macro you want. Of course the caveat is that you'd have to memorize which button is for which macro...

    How do you control how quickly each step occurs after the previous one? In many cases the TV and receiver take seconds to respond to a command and will not respond to a subsequent command until it's ready to. The macro can be 3 or 4 steps beyond the step the device is processing. Subsequently the commands are lost. That's why the Harmony lets you program in delays.

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same. You can add a step that is a wait command and designate the number of seconds before it goes to the next step.

    Great content.
    Need help. With macro.
    I have sharp tv with a sony receiver.
    And a sony bluray .
    When I go to the bluray. It works. Great I created macro.
    When I try to go back to tv the input on the tv did not change to tv.
    The input on the sharp tv cycles through tv hdmi 1 through hdmi 8.
    How do I program the input to tv?
    Please
    Thank You

      @hollywoodfrodo  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s gonna be more about your TV then the remote. If your TV remote has a button/signal that tells it to go directly to the tv then you just have to program that signal into SofaBaton. If the SofaBaton doesn’t have that listed by default you can use the IR Learn feature to teach it that signal.
      However, if your TV doesn’t support such a signal/remote button then you can’t create one on your own. You’d have to create a macro that sends the input signal however many times you’d need to push that input button to get back to TV. If you have multiple devices in multiple inputs that number would be different for each device so I’d probably use one of the bottom keys to program going back to tv from each input with different number of input presses.

    Is it possible to create a macro that can select particular steaming apps in a Roku. For instance, turn on tv, turn on roku, start AMC+.

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only if there are IR codes for each of those for each involved device. For sure turn on tv and Roku, but start a specific app on Roku maybe not.

    Exactly how long can the macros be? How many steps can we add? I’ve got 3 crazy macros that get crazy long that I use ALL the time. They’re like 130 steps. Also how is the input delay when using that remote huh? As bad as harmony?

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Input delay - do you mean if you change the input on your TV or receiver? It's pretty instant - I don't see any delay in that. 130 step macro? I can't imagine ever needing anything like that. I think the most I've used is like 4 or 5 so I don't honestly know what the limit is.

    I set up my new Sofabaton U2 today with no problems. It's replacing a Logitech Harmony Ultimate which is no longer functioning. Set up on the Sofabaton was intuitive and fairly simple. It's controlling my TV, soundbar, and cable box. The only thing I haven't attempted is a way to set up my favorite channels on the cable box so I don't have to memorize channel numbers or use the Spectrum channel guide to scroll to the channel I want. I assume I could set up a new "device" under which I could assign a channel number macro to various physical keys on the remote. Is there a better way? What are others doing for their favorite channels? Thanks

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We're all streaming services at my house so no "favorite channels" anymore! :-) But if I were gonna do that, it would depend. If the original remote for your cable box has "favorite channel" keys, you could program those on there then have the U2 learn those signals from the remote and use the 4 color coded keys for that. If the original remote doesn't have "favorite channel" key shortcuts, and you have to hit each number, then yes, you could program a macro to do that for each of your favorite channels. You could program those into the 4 color buttons on your cable remote in U2 if you only have 4 favorites. If you have 10 favorite channels, then yeah, I'd create a new "remote" and put them into the number keys as macros.

      @@hollywoodfrodo Thank you for taking the time to respond. I've got more than 4 favorites, so I'll try setting it up with macros assigned to the number keys 0-9. The original cable box remote didn't have favorite channels, but I got spoiled by the Logitech Ultimate touch screen where I had my favorites setup. I still miss the Logitech, but the Sofabaton is sure better than having to keep 3 different remotes within reach at all times. Thanks again!

    With the sofabaton U2 I cannot get the power command key to work when I add Appa TV (A2169). I have tried by using IR and Bluetooth to no avail. I also tried to get it to learn from the original remote control of Apple TV, and it didn't work either. I see on Reddit that other people have been having similar problems, but no solutions. Any suggestions? Thanks

    • @hollywoodfrodo
      @hollywoodfrodo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, the SofaBaton can only "learn" from another IR Remote. Even though the Apple TV Remote has an IR blaster, it is only used for 3rd party control. It sends commands to the AppleTV via Bluetooth so that's why the SofaBaton is not able to learn from that remote. As far as I know, there is no option for the SofaBaton to turn off the power of the Apple TV box. I never turn of my Apple TV... Even when using the Apple remote. It's not really necessary. And after a certain amount of time of non-use, it goes into sleep mode automatically.

      I don't think I did... I don't have Sky Q... If it's not a built in option, you can use the original remote and learn all the keys from it.

    • @hollywoodfrodo

      Without standing beside you to see exactly what you're doing, it'd be almost impossible to tell. The U1 is customizable in almost the exact same way (I had that one before this one) and with the same steps. But I can't really guess what you might be missing in the setup process.

      It should work, but without being there to see exactly what you're doing and being able to do it myself it's quite impossible to troubleshoot. I have been able to learn with no issues from any remote and I have been able to customize the home button so it should work.
