Haha so funny to read this as the first comment. I searched in yt for strings and serum, I compare the first two vids that show up: One a really loud overselfconfident guy, and his strings sound mediocre, ok I check the longer tutorial.. this one.. thanks god :)
😂😂😂 .... I really wonder how he's so Calm and Sweet which makes him different from others. Also, it feels like his videos have something magical.... I really can't explain how good his tutorials are
Just picked up the serum sample pack. Totally worth it!!! The bass synths alone are worth it, let alone everything else in there. Thanks for all your content man!
Holy moly the timing can't be any better! Our band just got a commission for a documentary and we were banging our heads for orchestral libraries since we don't have good internet during the lockdown. Thx for this Michael!!
I first tried to make some music around 6 years ago but it required so much learning and most tutorials just confused me even more, up to the point I just decided to let it go. Now thanks to your videos Im back at it and its sooo good. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge through this nice and hard work, its amazing, please keep it up! I bet it will help a lot of newcomers, no doubt about it!
Thanks you for always doing everything you do to an amazingly high quality, it's a breath of fresh air, just downloaded the free update, looking forward to seeing what's in it!
Thank you! I added a few more basses and key sounds mostly, along with a few upgrades to one or two patches. I hope to make more regular updates (every 2 to 3 months) in the future :)
Hey man, all your videos are so usefull. When I found this channel I just binge watched your videos all day like a Netflix series. Thank you for these great videos!
Thanks, Michael. I've taken courses on sound design for Serum, Spire, Ana2, etc but none of them explains things as clearly as your videos. You have some wonderful gifts and we are very lucky.
I've been searching for some videos like this on how to make Synth Strings, but didn't find any which is very detailed and reliable. And then finally this video dropped!!!!! Michael, you've always been good at Demonstration of everything and it's so detailed and of Pro quality... This strings really sounds heavenly. Your videos have helped me from Day 1 of my music production journey!! Lots of Love and RESPECT!
You are my music president, I happy that i manage to be in your channel because every video you give us we slp happy and learned to much from you. I hope i could meet you face to face, but anyways thank you very much for the job you are doing. Mr president i thank you.
You are the first one music producer who I want to spend my money for :) these tutorials are too perfect to be free btw I'm still using the brass and reese bass presets you taught us to set by self
FM adds a bit of inharmonics (harmonics that are slightly off being integer multiples of the fundamental frequency) which gives the impression of a string not vibrating perfectly. Very helpful video, thanks for this
I like how you show the example of the sound at the beginning of the video rather than right at the end.. at least this way you can decide if it’s the sound you’re looking for without watching a video that may not be needed. Great vid.. liked and subbed 👍🏻
Namaste! I was 11.111 who watched your video.) I find your string tutorial useful. Good result! All the best to you and your family. Hello from Ukraine.)
Just stopped by to thank you for all the knowledge and help you've been providing to all of us. You really have one of the best or even the best channel related to music production, thanks again keep up the good work.
I wish I could afford to pay you, the like and subscription and also recommitting you to my friends ain't enough. Everything I know is from you, Much Love from KENYA
That “difficult to explain part” he was dancing around is called “adds more harmonics or rather adds amplitude variations to some harmonics”. That is basically what “warmth” is when adding disto effects and similar.
An absolutely clear delineation of delightful design technique! Stupendous Michael, thank you. BTW, production value was great. Get some rest now, lol.
Boss Mike's calmness should reflect on each and everyone's personality in the comment section ... A good attitude is attractive mostly to decent people... :D
Fantastic video! Would love to see how you handle phase issues when working on a mix. I find that if i have two separate recordings of guitars (both direct-in), I get all kinds of phase issues before I even touch any effects. I think people like me would greatly benefit from any advice you have! Great work, as always!
Love the patch! Two things I've noticed/want to comment on: Firstly, you've adjusted the filter in the distortion effect, yet you didn't turn it on - you need to select the pre/post buttons (depending on what you want) next to the filter in order for it to do anything. Secondly, while it is personal preference, I feel like having delay before the reverb is the better option. I'm not really awake enouhh to explain this rn (2am here lol) but essentially putting delay after reverb has the reverb delay too, which might make it appear a bit "choppy" - it's less noticeable on this very subtle delay but in other usecases it might seriously make your sound worse (or better if you're going for experimental stuff i guess)
Itisdud not turning the filter on is just a small issue, sometimes things like that happen while the pressure of filming is on! However the distortion is still applied broadband
I have been sooo much struggling on Leads Sound Design and Leads layering. Can you make a video about this? I'm sure I'm not the only one having trouble on this. Thanks
@@AirEyezand what can I do with this kind of info? Gladly I'm not begging for samples. And recreating them is something that I can learn by tutorials 🤓
Nice tutorial as usual. Just a tiny suggestion to play a little piece of music at the end or beginning of the video just to get a better perspective for the finished design.
Thank you for this tutorial, I wanted to make a sound like this for a while. I don't own Serum but I did see ways how I can do something similar with the Synths I own
You've made great videos on designing bass and pads with serum. Thank you. It's really appreciated! Can you PLEASE also make one on how to take any sample (like a vocal sample) and make a pad out of it by looping the sample. I don't know how to get rid of the clicks at the start or end of the loop points so the pad can sound continuous and not like a sample being looped over and over again.
Brilliant mate, you are the David Attenborough of music production tutorials. Earlier in this series, you mentioned, with a glint in your eye, how you could do a long video about FM synthesis. Are there any plans?
Throw the velocity control into the attack time as well, so that higher velocity creates a more intense sound, but also because the varying of attack times is crucial for realistic strings
I love that you are not loud and hyperactive. Usually tutorials stress me out but you are so calm. Thanks
Ikr, it really keeps me immersed and learning
