Bro this was soooo informative and amazing! Unlike other tutorials where everyone's in a rush for some reason! how about a "How to vital video"? really liked your explanation
Now we've not just learned what makes a flute sound but also the secrets to creating much more realistic in general everytime we make a new sound and i'm sure we can create amazing diffrent sounding flutes without copying this stats
Really amazing this tutorial, I was struggling with vsts flutes presets that are very basics, thank you for your help with the tutorial, there's a lot of value in this video. I'm new in music production and I'm gratefull I found your channel. God Bless You.
Ooof, that's a heckuva mod matrix, but the result is really nice. Thanks for lesson! As a very tiny addition, I added aftertouch onto Macro 1 and 2, to get that kind of "exertion" effect that wind players have on long notes.
This is absolutely amazing. The world of synths is quite difficult to understand for me, I watched a lot of tutorials but I really liked how you started building it from a reference. And the explanation of a Comb-Filter was kinda eye-opening for me! I checked out your channel and found you re-build synth versions from more references, which will be super damn helpful for me! Thanks a lot for these tutorials, definitely subbing!
Wow, I found a gold channel, just to think it's one video of many more sound designs, since I watched Synthhacker I was looking for a vital version of his videos and I'm glad I found that channel You even explain why you're doing certain things and not just do a b c to achieve a flute, that's the thing I find helpful the most. Please continue doing those videos they're super helpful! And here's a fun challenge, try synthesizing a piano from scratch, so far I've never heard a good synthesized piano that doesn't use samples but only basic waves So I'm curious to see how you would do it :)
It took me the very first minute to realize this video is absolutely amazing. Thank you for this information... I am subscribing. Keep making more videos like this... I love this !
As a wind music enthusiast, you did not trick me. It sounded like the player was doing fast double tonguing. Still sounds pretty good and retro though!
Thank you so much! This tutorial has unlocked some questions I've had with not only how to make a flute sound, but wooing elements in general. Also how to make use of macros. You are a legend, big ups! I reckon I will add some Erosion from Ableton as well to bring out the throaty type of texture in the flute sound
Yeah honestly I think it being free makes a lot of people write it off. Somehow spending $200 on serum makes you think you are getting something higher quality when it’s not the case at all
This is great !!! You've got top notch skills !!! I find it super informative. I'll try to recreate following this step by step tutorial. Thank you so much 😄 Keep up with the great work! Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹😀
extra tips: Make sure for number entry you set vital for semitone: Advanced -> Display->Semitones Playing with the Filter fx type can add distortion/fuzz-like effects a.k.a rock! EWI (electronic wind instrument) can be applied to most!: Hard/slower Tonguing = shorter release {DAHDSR ENV1}. Faster/lighter Tonguing longer release. * Tested on Akia EWI USB.
I must admit - this is one of the best realistic sound design videos I have encountered on youtube. Would you mind sharing how to achieve legato (not glide)? Just enabling the legato option down below does nothing.
Oops! There's some kind of mixup on the Matrix Routings related to Macro 1. In the video at 7:15 you can see that Macro 1 is mapped to the Mod 2 and Mod 3 amounts, as listed in the video description, and Mods 2 and 3 are for LFO1's control of the Sample and OSC1 levels, respectively. This is also reflected over in the "tab" for LFO1 (the first 2 circles representing mappings from LFO1 have the little bright green circles in them). By 7:40 in the video, though, Macro 1 is no longer mapped to LFO1. It's still mapped twice to something, but not to the Mod 2 and Mod 3 amounts.
They are still mapped, look at the outer green circles moving around on sample and osc 1 to the speed of LFO1 when a note is played (you can also just listen for vibrato). I'm not sure if it is a visual bug or if the little green circles only show in the matrix tab, but they are definitely still mapped. In the initial preview they aren't showing as well, but you can audibly hear the vibrato effect.
Impressive. Being able to read instructions is beneficial. Just pause to let it soak in. I like this style of instruction. I'm still waiting for someone to come up with some Arabic type instruments in Vital. I want to hear stuff that makes me feel like I am riding a camel in the desert (lol). Subbing to see what you come up with next. Great work! Thanks.
this is amazing i subscribed to the channel thanks to how informative this video was... please do more similat tutorial with recreating also guitars harp sounds... brass... maybe
this is insane! appreciate you making this on free vital, crazy do you think you can make other flutes/other flutes can be made? what would be the parameters to change to try going after the nuances of other flutes? i barely understand subtractive synthesis, so other than follow along and destroy the sound myself, i have no idea how to approach changing nuances only
wow from the first video I saw right away I stayed xd, incredible videos and tutorials I was looking for how to learn how to use this plugin and now I know how to create different sounds and rhythms thanks bro. A question could you get a saxophone with it?
Hey this was really good! But the sample you used was from a flute section, right? Not one flute. So your synth is emulating a flute section. It sounds really good during a sustain, but would you say the attack is too uniform? Because your synth sounds like a bunch of flutes playing the same note, instead of one single flute, perfectly uniform transitions will sound artificial. I still don't know how one could fix that problem, maybe playing multiple pitch-shifted instances together at lower volume and slightly randomizing the timing of each attack?
this mans is lowkey a beast at sounds
agreed, def earned my sub
Wow I can't even lie that opening bit got me haha. Great work man!

how about a "How to vital video"?

This is one of the best if not THE best sound design tutorial I have ever seen. So easy to follow and understand!

Wow..... Because of you now I'll download vital
Wow this is like a next level sound design tutorial, from thought process to super advanced tips, gold right here!
I’m almost just as impressed by your automated velocity/vibrato at the end. That’s a great level of thoughtful detail! Thanks!
This is so helpful because you really go into detail to why you did certain things. Thanks alot!

one of the best sound design tutorials in the web with no doubt
Fantastic! That’s a true demonstration of amazing sound design skills! Thanks for sharing this!
It's crazy how you figured out how to do it!
Wow! Amazing tutorial! It's incredible how a real sound can be imitated by a synth in a so perfect way!
Speechless. THat's the first word that comes in mind.
My journey in synthesis has just started. Light years ahead to reach your skills.
AMAZING!

Appreciate it!
Comb-Filter is the MVP to build any sound based on actual physical instruments that have any kind of pitched resonance.
This is incredible. I learned a lot about Vital just following along. Great and perfectly documented tutorial!

this was actually a well crafted smartly designed flute patch.
This is the best tutorial on vital I have seen so far, keep going mate!
Dude, this channel is awesome !
As a wind music enthusiast, you did not trick me. It sounded like the player was doing fast double tonguing. Still sounds pretty good and retro though!
you have insane talent at synthesisers, this is just amazing to me
Wow very nicely explained helping not just with a flute but understanding how to recreate sounds in general
Lol, had to pause this video after the intro and take my hat for you. That was sick!
The best sound design video/ information I have ever seen or been given
Man, you are underrated. I have learnt so much from your videos.
Awesome man!

the opening was crazy nice work man
Man, you are a wizard!
Amazing sound - very good tutorial. Well done, man! 💯 🔥
Well done, was looking for ways to make sounds have a air-like wind instrument sound, this will help :)
you just earned a subscriber, this is amazing
This is really helpful! Thanks for making this. Super informative!
Amazing tutorial. I'm wondering where the wavetable position values came from. Just by ear or is there something more behind it?
I was referencing the flute sample I played in the beginning. I compared both on the spectrum analyzer to try and match the harmonics.
vital is just the best synth right now
Hard to imagine anything topping this in the near future, the more I use it the more I’m impressed with it
@@jazensounds453 also the fact that it's free blows my mind

Pure Genius ! Now give me my flute back.
your older videos have such a Gmod 10 thruster car tutorial vibe
I searched for a pan flute sound design, you delivered in spades. Hats off!
I feel like neither this synth nor this video should be free (But i'm glad it is)
No, you didn't trick me. But then I actually play flute. ;-)
i play flute and the beginning tricked me lol
It was the reverb that threw it off
I must admit - this is one of the best realistic sound design videos I have encountered on youtube. Would you mind sharing how to achieve legato (not glide)? Just enabling the legato option down below does nothing.
Make sure you set voices to 1 first, then legato will work
To me it sounded like a Pan flute if anything.. So it did look funky from the beginning.

The numbers are very precise- where did they come from? Do they have to be exactly the same number? Thats my only question, great tutorial :)
