I guess I never looked at it as being weird at the time but as I'm running lyrics in my head before it started I really wonder what the hell was wrong with me. I think I might be pretty weird too. Oh well
@@nikkireviewsThis is 100% the band's most mainstream-sounding song. For the heart of the Butthole Surfers, listen to their album "Locust Abortion Technician."
Wow, I can't even describe how ecstatic I am that you actually took the time to react to my suggestion!! And on top of that, you even gave me a shout-out! I'm so glad to see that you actually enjoyed it too.. I'm gonna have a permagrin for a month!.. My life is finally complete.. Lmao.. Thank you, Nikki, you're the f**kin best!!!
Haha well thanks! 😜 I'm still going to have to check out Who Was in My Room Last night by them too. I looked at the thumbnail for that one and I'm already amused. 😂
Now we just got to watch for that music video for the song "Who was in my room last night?" I love that music video! It's so cool!! It also features Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Vocalist Gibby Hanes features in the song Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry..you might enjoy that one Nikki, also the guy you said that looked familiar, is actor Eric Estrada who was one of the main characters in the 70's TV show CHiPs
I will have to check out Jesus Built My Hotrod, the name alone just sounds amusing. And yes, chips! I figured out that it was Eric Estrada, but I still wasn't sure where I'd seen him before. 😂
@@nikkireviewsI concur about that song. You should also check out the song "Just One Fix" by Ministry. Ministry is probably one of the loudest bands I have ever heard from the mid-90s.
@@nikkireviews I love Ministry. They were not huge, but they definitely influenced Rob Zombie (not just the sound, but a lot of the aesthetics as well).
If I remember correctly, their name came from something a heckler in the audience shouted at them when they first started playing as a band. I saw them live a couple of times. The show I saw in Phoenix in '88 might be the best show I've ever seen in my life. It was in an abandoned shopping mall, and it was crazy. I'm partial to their music before they signed to Capitol Records -- albums like "Psychic...Powerless...Another Man's Sac," "Locust Ab0rti0n Technician," and "Hairway to Steven." The stuff on Capitol is great, but there is just nothing like those early records.
rthey had a lot of good underground hits before this, this was the first one that went big on radio, Id recommend listening to the album locust abortion technician, 2 songs for sure "Sweat Loaf " a far out black sabbath cover and " Human Cannonball "
When this came out, there were so many copies at the used record/CD exchange store. You just know so many people bought it expecting the entire album to be similar to this.
I have heard this but didn't recall their name ,maybe never knew this was them, but I do remember that was a bands name but never checked into why .Was that Eric Estrada 😂 ?The clothes from the 60's LOL!!Yes so I went and watched a little of Loser by Beck and the beat or cadence they are singing/talking in is close to this song .iVE watched many reactions but never saw anyone react to this group/song very interesting, thanks Nikki !!
The two best things about this song: 1. Butthole Surfers got some well deserved $$$. 2. You could find all their albums used and complete your collection on the cheap thanks to everyone thinking they were going to get more stuff like this. 😆
Every time this band comes up, it makes me remember a story by a friend of mine. When he lived in Austin either Gibby and Al Jourgenson's girlfriend (or Al and Gibby's girlfriend) smoking crack in his living room.
They have a fun cover of the Underdog theme. The Independent Worm Saloon album was my jam. Dust Devil is great, (and Who was in my Room Last Night of course.)
If you're not familiar with Primus, you should give them a shot. Particularly My Name is Mud, Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver (This song actually got air-play if you can believe it), and Jerry Was a Race car Driver. Primus is weird, funky and cool.
@samdoorley6101 I personally try to suggest one with a Hook that'll make em look! Especially if it's their first exposer to a new band ya dig.. People remember a song with an earworm that'll linger in the ether for a while! And I think that'd probably be, Too Many Puppies, for Primus! Nobody ever does that one for some reason..
That band name reminded me of Finnish movie called Hevireissu (Heavy Trip). There is this band called Impaled Rektum. It's really funny movie, and it just got sequel, Heavier Trip, where they are going to Wacken. Can't wait to see it. If you can find that movie, maybe you could react to it. And if you love it, you have probably began to transform to Finn 😆
you should give Melvins a try, Kurt Cobain spoke highly of them, siting them as a big influence, maybe start with their song Honey Bucket...a friend of mine said the singer Buzz, sounds like James Hetfield
It is reminiscent of Loser by Beck. How about "Detachable Penis" by King Missile from 1992, similar with the spoken word lyrics. It was a one hit wonder, but decent and memorable.
It's kind of a mix between "Loser" by Beck and "People Who Died" by the Jim Carroll Band (which it's kind of ripping off). I second your recommendation for "Detachable Penis".
Beyond my general enjoyment of the song and the band, I do have an uncle from Dallas who lost his leg. My understanding is that it did involve a train.. and possibly acid, so a dance doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.
Like the Beck call out, back in the day i thought it was the same performer. I also think Gorillaz and even Chemical/Dust Brothers used some of this style. Beck has pulled from NIN....at least a feel here and there. 👽🗿👽
Wow, I feel like there are so many songs/bands I've missed out on from that time because that is definitely a brand new one to me haha. Thanks though, I will add it to my list.
Now I'll throw ya another curve ball! And request, Come to My Window, by Melissa Etheridge! And we'll see if some Pop Folk-Rock will tickle your pickle!.. She is one of my top 3 favorite female singers of all time, and I'm willing to bet you're gonna absolutely love her, too!.. Elitist Metalhead, my ass..! Nobodys gonna paint me into a corner with stereotypic labels!! Lmao... 😆
That's right! To hell with the stereotypes! 😁That song is one I actually DO know from back in the day but I don't think I ever watched the video or really know many of the lyrics besides "Come to my window" lol. So I will add it to my list, thank you! 😊
