    ⚓️ Where to buy this KIT: amzn.to/46UDM9Q
    I really enjoy the quality of this kit! Although this kit has the largest number of parts I have ever built...
    Building a ship model of the frigate USS CONFEDERACY (1778) in scale 1:64. Kit manufactured by the American company ModelshipWays. Here I share my personal impressions of the kit and results.
    Scale: 1:64 (889mm/35") or 3/16''=1'
    Single plank-on-bulkhead hull
    FULL process of building the model of the frigate USS CONFEDERACY (1778):

    Кто-то из знаменитостей говорил, что настоящие моряки закончились когда перестали ходить на парусах. Но настоящие моделисты никогда не закончатся пока строятся такие красивые и точные модели кораблей. Я пока решил сделать парусник из картона, т.е. иду от простого к сложному. А Вам ,Ольха, успехов в новых сложных моделях!

      Не думаю , что парусник из картона - это просто . Гляньте выкройки из польского "Shipyard". Там ещё и рангоут можно делать из бумаги .

    I'm debating if the expression on your face at the end of the video is a smile at what you have accomplished, or a grimace as in "Holy S---, what have I gotten into?". As always though, beautiful work Olha!

    • @OlhaBatchvarov

      When I work with models my eyes rest and I have a very comfortable chair. I'm in the workshop every day, but there's also my photo studio where I take and edit photos and videos - so my working day in the workshop from early morning to late evening is about 10-12 hours a day between cleaning, washing and cooking and without days off)))

    I was wondering what glue you use? It looks like titebond? Do you use CA?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it was Titebond II! At this stage it will not be visible that the glue is yellow after drying - so it is perfect here.
      CA - definitely not for such an important stage of construction! It is not suitable for work at high temperatures - and I will use a soldering iron when bending the planks directly on the hull... CA can not withstand the load the joint and the surfaces are hard to clean from it! (this video has an example of removing a part without damaging adjacent parts, which cannot be done with CA).
      I am using CA but not at this stage...

    About how long does it take you from unboxing to final rigging to build one of these models?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the model. How many masts, how many guns, how many sails, etc. and how many upgrades will be added to the kit. This process can take from 3-4 months to 3-4 years, and if I build according to the drawings then even twice as long...

  • @alcamerc9923
    @alcamerc9923 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When you buy these kits, do the parts come already cut-up and shaped to size? What kind of glue is used

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Yes" and "No". Here are all the laser-cut parts, but each still needs to be "held in the hands" before gluing because there is no angle of 90 degrees on the ship. Everything should be shaped and sanded. This is definitely not a LEGO constructor...

    I'm amused, you say it's the biggest and most difficult kit, come on it's
    laser-cut numbered and you have plan, what about the person who design and cut the kit in the first place. I have my own Laser and design model Trains in 1/32 scale 1/22.5 or what ever you want, good on you for having a go at building a Kit Au

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you ever built a model (ship or train) longer than 80 cm with a fairly heavy weight and manipulated it on the table so as not to touch or break it?

    • @gme273
      @gme273 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have my own laser -cutter, with cutting area of 1200mm x 900 mm, I design, draw , cut my own Railway wagon Kits, plus the hardest part for me are the instructions on how to assemble the model, so that others can assemble the Kit without hassle, I run under Gme106 Toys and Hobbies on Facebook everything in the site that’s laser-cut is made by me

    • @gme273
      @gme273 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you have an idea I’m knocking you, not true, what I’m trying to say your building a kit, from a box, which is far easier than building from scratch as all parts are pre cut and numbered plus a plan to follow.

    Hermoso modelo de navío de línea. Me dediqué al modelismo naval durante años, en los ratos libres que me dejaba mi profesión. Construí varios modelos: un galeón veneciano del SXVI, el navío de línea español "La santísima madre", el barco de guerra francés "La Couronne", uno de los más difíciles por los detalles y otros de menor importancia. Se requiere investigación, mucho trabajo y mucha paciencia para llevar a feliz término esta tarea tan difícil como agradable. ¿El premio? Poseer una pieza de museo digna de admiración.

    You probably already know this, but I'd like to give you this tip.
    The best invention I've come across in recent years.
    Bicarbonate of soda and super glue.
    Hard as stone, but sandable.
    Dry in 1.5 seconds.
    Pour more bicarb add another drop... endlessly adaptable

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I know this trick! I use it only in cases where PVA does not work. For example, glue metal to wood, etc. If you use only CA on such a big hull - cataracts will be guaranteed! This is a very toxic glue, but it is also impossible to build without it completely, especially when installing the rigging...

  • @Ottakring-us3xi

    Sorry but the most difficult is the model of the Danish ship Norske Love with 18 sails and more than 100 sail cords

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This kit does not include a mast or sails. But I will reconstruct this part myself...
      I built the HMS VICTORY with even more sails and almost three times as many guns (104) than Norske Love and I will say that the CONFEDERACY is already much more complex. Because it has a larger scale and more details.
      The hull alone has thousands of parts + adding to the complexity is its size, which requires a large table. With the bowsprit, this model will be within 1.5-1.6 m
      So, it is not the type of vessel, but its detailing that is the main difficulty.

    Now that I am fully awake and actually thinking, I went back to your first video on The Confederacy. I am very familiar with the kit. But I do not yet have it. Brilliant model from MS. Thousands of accurate parts. Very challenging in itself. I have a build list for my kit inventory that will exceed my remaining lifetime. BUT, it is a simple matter to order this kit and place it to the front of the list. Your skill is always so impressive! Your little hands fly about gluing and adjusting! Brava!!

      How can you compare ready-made models with a kit?
      It doesn't look the same!
      By the way, if I were to build a CONFEDERACY in M1: 25, her hull would be 2,2 m. But this is not even about length, but about the level of difficulty - when you do not have enough length of the table, even turn the model!

    That is a painstakingly involved process if I've ever seen one, with every piece hand-fit and tailored to the segment in the frame. We'll have invent a miniature steaming device just for the longer ribs to accommodate the sheer as the timbers merge into the ribs. You never fail to surpass all your earlier efforts in the past, though your own creativity in approaching each of these projects overwhelms me. Just noticed your channel and a joy to watch model ship building always. You are very good at it and I'm glad you enjoy it. Surely an ancient hobby going far back and some kits are just amazing and gets very intricate. I am starting a schooner from 'Model Shipways' and like their plans and instructions. They have changed with their kits quite a bit over the years for the better. Artesian Latina kits are not too intricate with the instructions and mostly rely on plans. What kit is this? This is a completely different type of kits where you need to work with glue and cut and sand wooden parts even if they are laser cut! This building process is much longer, so choose the ship that you will be interested to building! And remember that the smallest model does not mean the ieasiest. Here it is rather the opposite!
