A Way Out is a six hour long coop movie that at times remembers it is supposed to be a video game. It is equal parts a mediocre movie and an average game. It plays it so safe even the sins get boring.

There should've been a secret ending where if Leo or Vincent gets the gun and they wait 1-3 minutes, they put down the gun.

If you run straight instead of zig zagging he'll get pretty shot up
An even bigger sin is that he gets shot a lot if you run straight, and he’s totally fine, but one shot from Vincent is the only thing he needs to die

When me and my friend got to the ending we were kind of suprised that they gave Vincent's cover off like that and with the whole shooting ending....I won but didn't feel like I won.
Yeah me and my friend kept trying to do everything possible to avoid having a character kill the other... In the end the game forces you to kill your friend :( we were both very sad
I was sad too:( I fucked my girlfriend up by shooting her character. She was Vincent.

Because if yes then you should feel like you won because thats the good ending since vincents wife didnt like him much and their daughter wouldnt even have remembered vincent. On the other hand leo's wife and son loved him you could even see how much they do in leo's death ending.

I killed Vincent, I was entirely routing for Leo to win. I think the game is sooo much better when you have a competent gamer playing as the other character because it actually gets intense as fuck in the ending.
I think the reason why they would not open fire at the hospital would be that if there were any patients with heart problems, the shock of sudden gunfire could make their state a lot worse.
Keimo I don't think cops were taking heart problems into consideration when they've just found the wanted felon and had a second to react

A "silencer" helps reduce muzzle flash, and the loud boom of the gun. Great for when you are shooting without ear plugs.

I don't think sin 39 is a sin. Remember, Harvey killed Vincent's brother during the botched deal. So remaining with Leo to get Harvey is more of a personal revenge, and not just an extension of the job,since they would've just arrested Harvey if he stopped working with Leo there.
Undercover cops are definitely allowed to break the law while undercover, what’re you talking about? Granted, they can’t break EVERY law.

3:55 i disagree with this one, I think that it was deliberate to make them near identical so that the basis of the dilemma of who should win is based on their actions more than their characters.
Also, come on, you can't actually say both endings evoke the same emotional response

You missed out the part where Leo said he knew that the baby was Vincent's first child by the way he held the kid but when you play through the hospital part, Leo never even saw Vincent pick up the baby because Leo went outside got chased by the police and never came back in to the room.
When I walked out of the room, I looked back through the glass and saw. Just because you didn't see doesn't make your point valid.

Whys that a sin?
The plot only works if they're both criminals, the last minute twist that one of them was an undercover cop undermines most of his actions throughout the game, like it was changed at the last minute to conform to the video game equivalent of the Hays Code.

BlackSilhouette I am not sure they would actually give out the information of someone being undercover to every police officer simple because of the corruption. Also, how would it look if Leo saw Vincent not being chased....
BlackSilhouette if they told every police officer then chances are that information gets spread by corrupt officials, you know not every cop knows every undercover cop. Plus their was some small hints like emily who someone know's his wife's going into labor despite being just one of vincent's contacts when first introduced
BlackSilhouette if you're playing this with a friend and they just reveal that it ruins the experience. It's easy to figure out if you're focused on it
A way out is so underrated
This game is amazing. That hospital escape scene is one of 2018 best moments. Sin for Leo sliding down the elevator cable without shredding the flesh of his arms, though.

7:39 Sin 41 : Opening the safe normally wouldn’t set off an alarm. Some safes, especially in banks have two combinations, one being able to still unlock the safe while triggering the alarm for the police.

The endings legit made me and a freind cry because it made us care about them going home...then the game took that joy

Undercover cops are sometimes allowed to break the law to maintain the trust of someone they’re trying to fool, but only to some extent, and it depends on which department as to how far they can go. Murder, obviously, is not condoned, but setting up drug deal, gun deals, some assault, posing as prostitutes and soliciting sex-all of that has been done.
As someone said not many game have splitscreen and I play games mostly with my family or girlfriend, I love when people dont just have to watch but can also play woth you. This game was a gem, wish we could get more like this.
Of course the story doesnt make sense, movies doesnt either, it would be boring.
idk if you did all the side interactions but there was a lot of really funny ones that i never laughed at so hard in a game once.

When Leo tells the construction worker his candid plans for his boss, they way he talked was a lot like how New Jerseyans really talk to each other. Also within certain limits undercover cops can commit crimes, mainly to keep the cover from being blown.
Sin: theres a scene in the hospital where Leo takes a hostage and the cops dont open fire, dispite Leo firing directly upward in a hospital where there are probably patients on the floor above. Speaking of which, regardless of how many shots you fire as Leo, he always ends up without any ammo.

Vincent only used Leo to kill Harvey so Vincent had to help him get out of all the situations he was in so he can go kill Harvey with him.
The funny thing is that people actually think this is the first ever game to pull out something like a fight with a co-op player in the end, but every time I think about this game I think about the game Monaco, that has the same way to end the story
Because that was an indie game on the Nintendo Switch

Am I the only one that found the dialogue to feel really or awkward? Or at least, I don't believe at times the characters sound like normal talking people? It's really off-putting.

Yeah the voice acting was so terrible and their accents were so bad it brought me out of the immersion of the story all the time. Sometimes my friend and I would burst out laughing lol I was pretty disappointed with this game in general

You miss a sin. When your parachuting down and Leo loses his parachute you see his gun go flying with his chute, yet when he gets down in the ground he magically has his gun again.
I expected this achievement you gave the game from moment one!

You do know the escape is strikingly similar to the TV series "Prison Break". They've taken ideas from other sources to create a game. It's got its quirks, buts still a fun game with a great story

This game's ending left me and my friend speechless
You most certainly do not get the same emotional response for both endings. Vincent, the cop who lost his brother during a sting dealing with the criminal who he then befriends, works with to get revenge on the killer of his brother, then is revealed to leo with all that betraying him in the end, who has a wife separated from him and a baby on the way/newborn is most definitely different than leo, the criminal who fences stolen goods who is just trying to get by and make ends meet for his wife and kid. I honestly feel more guilt in killing Leo, though it also feels like the 'true' ending if you can call it that. With how calculated Vincents plan was to get harvey and end up putting leo back in prison, using him to further his own revenge, i feel more remorse killing leo. It only feels right to end it that way with how Leo did do what he could no matter what to escape the police and go through wirh everything, while Vincent for the most part works to try and keep things more civilized and not violent. Vincent is the antihero and Leo is the antivillain. That is how it is meant to be though and having this be one of my absolutely most favorite stories to a game ever, I cannot allow that singular sin to pass by unchallenged.
I'm surprised you never mentioned "We're trying to find my wife and our newborn child but let's play a game of connect four, shall we?" or "We're hunting down Harvey but we have time to go swim in his pool, right?"

at 2:20, he probably couldn't do it because there are guards who will check him if he comes out of the nursing room

There are two pins in one safe. One is used by it's owner and the other one is used to tell the bad people.

The game tries to make Vincent being undercover as unpredictable as they can, so they even give off some weird lines.
The pilot says, "You'll have to pay me triple after this" (or something similar), and I don't understand why she'd say that when Leo was clearly asleep.
Played this game with my little brother after we got from the library quite the experience for the both of us

Me and my friend thought this game was absolutely fantastic. Sure, it is a bit cliche, and the dialogue can be slightly cringey, but nonetheless the co-op is perfect with split screen and the ending was a huge shock to the both of us and it motivated me and him to really try to kill the other one. Even though Vincent is a backstabber, I still wanted him to win as I was playing as him, which is really strange because usually you'd want him to lose. The final bit where he holds his hand and the amazing music plays is cinematic genius. i think this game was made for the same type of people me and my friend are, because we seem to be the only people who really enjoyed the game and its ending.

You forgot the fact that the assassin’s gun doesn’t have a barrel thread to allow the suppressor to be attached
I think when Leo dies, the hand lock of them hit harder than Leo accepting the note from Vincent when he dies
The issue with this game is that its too linear the player can try to screw everything up and still win it
You forgot the moment where Leo leaves the gun by ray but then randomly pulls it out by the car.
It's a good thing that this game tried to emulate Shawshank Redemption. It is an oscar winning picture and shows good cinematography with visuals, so if you want to use reference material or take influence from any medium, you go with the best examples. Most films use computer technology to render lifelike scenes anyway, so video games should take influence from the medium.
