I agree with you, and the best is if the expats integrate with the local culture. In a way it balances out the world economy as well. Though there is something sad about working on a US salary in a place where the locals make $10 or less a day, sometimes doing very hard work such as manual labor in high temps. The compassionate expat might try to tip high to the locals or help out a local friend in need. The only true way to enjoy being a expat in a place is become friendly with the people around you.

This paradise of islands and jungles in the heart of Southeast Asia has risen and risen to become one of the global hubs for digital nomads. In fact, some even say the movement began here, thanks to a boom of startups and laptop warriors in the second city of Chiang Mai.
How nice it is to go to poorer economies to live the lifestyle you can’t live in your more developed nation. The power of a stronger currency. I hope the Thai government can use this money to improve the country for Thai people and it not be some cheap paradise for Westerners.

All this chaff that's entered the marketplace has tinged it for freelancers. New age kids doing 'social media' because they once signed up for it and live on an island (pay me 2000 euros)
Any semi-exotic place would be great for digital nomads and even startup incubation if the destination already has a decent tourist footprint. Like that guy said bout remote work being accelerated by 5-6 by the pandemic, we'll see more and more of this. Like a permanent vacation and you come off with building something cool and making a buck. A lifestyle you'd normally save up mentally for after retirement, but you get to experience that while youre a young professional. Very refreshing.
Thailand has now the special long stayed visitor visa can stay up to 270 days (90+90+90) after you got full certified documents and pass14 days SQ at the designated local facilities (either hotels or private hospitals packages avaliable for online booking, rates $1100-3000). @Kay Flip 'What does Thailand have to do with that transaction?' Maybe the fact that it's happening IN THAILAND?? However, seeing this law enforced is another matter entirely.

There's a very cool policy of live and let live. It's very very safe in Thailand too. You won't have any trouble at all so long as you don't go looking for it. Thailand is actually a big pain visa wise as they have cracked down on visa-runs. One can stay a short while on the tourist-visa but that is now limited. Many other countries offer much better visa deals and/or they tolerate visa runs.
The only problem with most of these digital nomad visas is that they require high proof of earnings. Many people have chosen to sacrifice a higher salary in order to work online independently, I don't believe that most countries trying to attract digital nomads are catering to this sector.

People are just naturally haters for no reason. All I see is people doing what makes them happy without bothering or harming anyone. No reason to judge them
I agree with you, and the best is if the expats integrate with the local culture.

I want to know their feelings if some local tells them to go back to their country
Probably will do some mental gymnastics and say they deserve to live there more than the locals.
I think the locals are happy to have there, rent their houses and spend a lot of money at bars and food.
The only problem: you need a work permit in Thailand to be a digital nomad. Otherwise it is illegal. Good luck with that.
2:24 She is not even sitting in the Yoga pose. (watch her feet) both should face the sky. So much for being Yoga teacher.
Western people have rewritten Yoga according to their commerical need. Hardly anyone follows core version of Yoga.
This smells of mushrooms and mdma. I wouldn't be woke enough to go here. I also don't like the smell of my own farts.
I laughed too much at this
im Thai. i use both 5g internet of AIS as a hotspot share and wifi to play online games with westerners. it works perfectly
One of my fave places in the world !
Ugh think I'm gonna vomit. I was thinking that they should all be mugged based on how smug they all look. The only reason they can live like that is because of the social inequalities in that country.
They're exploiting on the power their currency have on the local currency.
@@polarnyong beeing allowed by the country and thats fair
you shouldn't think like that - the locals depend on the money that these "nomads" bring in - without it their lives could be even worse - just remember, it is the locals themselves who set this up so they could bring in tourists and make a living - what you would like is for them to remain poor
@@duinay3 How about the government providing meaningful work to the Thai people instead of making them vulnerable to the whims of a tourist economy?
@Nika A - oh God no - the government in charge of jobs is the kiss of death - they will run it to the ground and there will eventually be no jobs. Only private business can ensure competition and improvement for business to survive - not a monopoly like a government - look at how well North Korea is doing with their jobs program all being controlled by the government
For a moment I thought it's joe rogan in thumbnail
Nah.. Joe Rogan has a nicer skull 🤣
Not anymore..now need a work permit for any online work that involves making money
Wrong again
@@archiehickox6518 Look up Narit Law Thailand website and then click on legal articles tab...you will find clarification regarding new work permit rules.
@@jspbipro I just checked out this document and you're indeed correct. You now need a work permit to conduct "digital nomad" type work. Regardless, you always needed an appropriate visa to conduct work never mind getting a work permit.
@@ellk1991 Right..and most digital nomads have no idea and just arrive on a tourist visa...if immigration wanted to would not be hard to find...just drop into many of the new co-working spots and request a passport check.
and this is how nature and wildlife are gradually encroached upon and destroyed by human habitation
Do a Google search fo “koh phangan crime”...
Just 1 case and police already arrest criminals. Why you judge the whole island by one case?
Another idiot scared of life by the media. Stay home poor boy.
My job in the U.S. went 100% remote when COVID hit. When that happened, I decided to make my 10k per month tax free in a foreign country where cost of living was 90% lower, and quality of life was higher. Digital nomad? More like nomad capitalist.
Love all the "get a real job" comments, bunch of people who regretted their life choice working 40+ hours a week in a cold country to spend 2 weeks here hahaha
