Those piano key follow ups in different tones makes me feel there's someone listening to you and they can only respond using keys 😆. They're very relaxing. The whole vibe reminds me of 90s to early 00s educational shows. Glad you have a new channel for other things!
My grades were the mirror of Einstein. Art, biology, English Literature, all A’s. Math though? Math and physics is where I struggled. Barely passed…until I went to college and had a professor who taught in such a way that made math enjoyable. He also took the time to see me after every class and help me to process what we learned. It was the first Math class I got an A in. I was in gifted, I have a fairly high IQ…not as high as Einstein, but in the “near genius” range, and IQ simply doesn’t give a whole picture of a person. I was tested again an adult, more thoroughly, and it turns out I have a Math learning disability. I’m a complete idiot in math…but that one professor changed my entire outlook. I still hate math, but it helped me to realize the importance of a good mentor. It’s incredible what one good teacher can do for someone. And, there are so many different kinds of intelligence that it’s impossible to look at a snapshot like this and understand a person as a whole. We’re in desperate need of education reform. Think of all the little Einsteins out there who are constantly discouraged by an oppressive system. We’re failing them, and not giving them the resources to succeed. Man, I love your content. So excited to see more of your videos!!
I wish I was a teacher so I could show this to my students. As someone who the schooling system kinda failed and also had lots of issues with testing, it's important to teach kids that grades aren't always everything. That it's a process and you don't need to be perfect. I think more kids should be celebrated for being "sufficient" and it's okay if you're not the best of the best at everything
I'm german and I had to rewind the part with the second part and then had a really good laugh xD I love this! I came from your other chanel and I really like this. This feels a bit more for an adult audience in mind (though I like getting things explained like I was a little child... Cause then I understand a lot more xD) and it's always nice to see "even this genius failed at something!" And it was a saying in germany when I was a student: "even einstein had a 6 in math" ... But the grading system is a diffrent one... And it became absolutely crushing when I realized that xD In germany grading is (nowadays) 1 to 6 with 1 the absolute best grade you can get. 1 is excellent, 2 is good, 3 is satisfying, 4 is "good enough", 5 is "not there yet" and 6 is directly failed everything. And as far as I know you only get a 6 for either giving back a blank paper or getting caught cheating, so it's quite impossible... Though in university you need 4 or higher to successfully made it through and 5 is simply failed. And as far as I know that means 40% of points or more to succeed class. So it became soon stupid for people who were really bad in math to quote that... Though the soviet union also had the system of the higher the number, the better you performed. My mom always complained to me she had all 5s and I struggle getting a 3. 5 was the best grade then. And Einstein knew what we kinda had to learn: the school system as it is is absolute crap and doesn't help anyone! In german we have a word for that "Bulimielernen" - Bulimie is when you stuff yourself with food and later go throw up in the toilet. It's on the same spectrum as almond moms starving themselves for the perfect figure, I just don't know the term in english for "Essstörung"... And "lernen" is learning. So you stuff all the material into your brain before the exams and during the exam you "throw up on the paper" everything you've learned and immediately forget everything again... And that's stupid, cause learning should be long lasting and not "just for the next exam"
Charlie you may not see this, but I hope others can relate: you are my absolute favourite comfort creator, your demeanor, voice, personality and energy is so calming yet intriguing and exciting! You really help me with my mental issues such as anxiety and ADHD, and I've always had a fascination for history and animals! Really love you and your content to bits and keep this up as it makes my day to get home, comfortable in bed, and putting on odd animal specimens :)
Thank you for sharing your interests, enthusiasm, and lovely personality with us Charlie! I can't wait for part 2, or whatever else you create next for this second channel 😊
A small credit in the description is not sufficient, especially if you are taking content from female creators. At least change the thumbnail and title? Makes me wonder if you do the same with your other channel.
Also, instead of teasing that your next video will be about the university grades that "you found" just direct them to Tibee's video where you took all of this from.
You are a very good educator, Sir. This video can teach most college students nowadays how to examine materials and do a little bit of research in literally ANYTHING. Also, both of your channels are so relaxing to watch so the lessons can be sucked smoothly by the brain.
Charlie, I was a very early subscriber to your other channel and know you'll do just as well with this one! Congratulations on over 3M subscribers on your OddAnimalSpecimens channel!!! 👍👍👍
I like this very much, but I will note that I found it just a little startling that you aren't speaking as slowly as you do on your other channel. I love the calm, thoughtful slowness in your voice- it gives me time to think about what I'm learning.
Hey I’ve been watching your videos with my toddlers since nature boom time and weird but true. I love how as you grow your content and it matures in its target audience I get to continue watching with my kiddo as they get older too. Thanks for making so much good video content that I don’t feel guilty letting my kid watch.
Great video! I love your aesthetic and the way you simply and cleary get concepts across to the viewer! However, there is one thing I want to point out: I don't agree with the way you translated the grades across like that. More often than not, such a simple "percentage based" translation of grades will not work, because examination in different places is fundamentally different. I'm from the UK, so I'll use our exams as an example. In our GCSE exams (which everyone takes when they are 15 or 16 years old, and is the final school exam that everyone has to take), the highest grade we can get is a 9. What exactly this requires changes a bit year to year and exam to exam, but for simplicity let's say you have to get 90% to get that. Now let's fast forward to university. Again, the exact boundaries are going to differ and I am simplifying, but generally the highest grade (getting a 1st) requires that you get above 70%. If we were to straighforwardly translate between GCSE grading and university grading, pretty much nobody would be getting the highest grade. But that's exactly because those are two very different kinds of exams and so the different ways of assessing them reflect that! This also applies when comparing different countries, of course! It would be better to compare the grades by looking at the number of people that achieved each grade, rather than this simplified percentage-based method.
Fun and interesting! Love the methodical approach to your material! So this video does bring up the “talent” vs. “hard work” question (I believe anything will be a mixture of these two factors), which is fun. We all know he did amazing genius things celebrated by the world, so how did his good and bad grades get him there? Perseverance and persistence? A specific kind of personality? Did he glide on through purely on talent and enthusiasm?
what is this incredible quality video in my recommended?? wasp nest video? what on earth? I just saw this and the quality of the thumbnail and profile picture was all it took for me to believe that this was going to be another huge channel that I just wasn't previously aware of. Only 840 subs? First video? WHAT! I am curious as to this wasp nest video though, that may explain things- if any fellow commenter sees this and could put me in the right direction I'd be very thankful!
I totally forgot what it was like to finish a test and never want to know about it ever again its been like over 20 years since ive had to take a test😅
6:28 he did not fail french, he got a 3, which is the "i just barerly passed" grade. I think it's terrible that you need 60% to pass an merican test/exam! Here It's more of a 50% thing for exams and some tests are still passable with 45% being right! My whole life i thought "oh the US just uses letters while we use numbers, A, B, C, D, E, F, that's 6, like we, so it gotta be the same" but are you telling me you habe no E, making it a 5 grade system AND 60% to at least pass.... That's diabolical
Thumbs up if you came here right after the wasp nest video!
I did
what is this wasp nest video? where can I find it?
