Hey there you! I am glad you took advantage of the "M" hooks and it has also worked for you as well. In my mission to get all of my orchids hung up in my orchid kennel I had to come up with a way where I could hang all of my orchids with less frustration...and wala the "M" hooks were born! They have been real life savers for me and I can't believe what a simple fix it was. As I always say...sharing is caring and the more that we know, the more that we can grow! Keep up the awesome work and I do appreciate all that you do and continue to bring to our orchid community.
When I grew bonsai years ago a similar moss developed on all my plants and I always loved how it looked. Thank you for all the information you provide. I have a pretty decent green thumb but always struggled with orchids. After watching your videos I feel much more confident in my ability to grow orchids.
To me you are the OG... but this is so neat. I love that you cite your sources and give people credit for what they teach you and not just take it and make it your own discovery like most people do nowadays. Especially those who are starting their TH-cam channel by defaming or judging other growers just for clickbait and fame. I also watch My Orchid Adventures and her channel is amazing!! I love that you mentioned Maria respectfully in this video. Great video!
Timely! I just inherited 2 Tolumnias. They've been neglected for quite some time, so I do need to repot. Love the 'M' hook! Also included in my 'inheritance', are a couple of Vandas & several Neo that will benefit from those hooks!
Thank you for this info! I'm going to try this with my 2 tolumnias. I currently have them in net pots with bark, charcoal and a tiny bit of sphagnum moss. They aren't doing anything though, no new growth at all. I've had them for about 8 months now. A couple of leaves have even fallen off on my one tolumnia. I love the wire hanger, what a great idea! I have the same wire shelving unit as yours so this setup will work perfectly.
Hey Danny thanks for showing and always trying new setups and materials to even grow things like Masdevallias it has motivated to try them again with a diy selfwatering pot that is made out of glass hopefully that’ll do the trick because I love miltoniopsis and Masdevallias a lot especially because of their flowers and fragrance : D thank you very much
I put both mine in moss and it dries in less than a day. We have fans in our greenhouse and because I use a basket like yours I do t worry about the moss staying wet. I put them outside as well and we end up watering about everyday.
That little pod isn't a spore but it is where the spores are produced. The pod and the little it's on are basically the moss's reproductive structures, similar to the seed pod of a flower.
Danny, you should try live sphagnum moss that usually use by carnivorous plant enthusiast.. It will grow wonderfull in your set up, espescially the masdevallia.. Love your video 💓
Hello Danny i always watch your videos if i have any doubts its great you have so many videos, just a question here, How viable would it be to cross a normal size phal and a mini phal? i think you have no pollinisation videos but i thought maybe you had the answer, also when will you post your dimophorchis lowii update? Greetings from MEXICO!!!
I learnt from Roger's Orchids that Tolumnia is better to grow "on" something, not "in" something.. OrchidLoveATX seem to grow it successfully in leca... just a thought ^^
Hi, everyone has an opinion about everything and that's ok. But opinions are not facts, so don't worry about the on, under, above etc part, I'm not :)))
Hi Danny!! Love your channel. I am new in this wonderful world of orchids and have been seen your videos. Love then all! I am sorry to ask this but can you tell me what brand of Leca you recommend. Any especification? Made in China? May I buy it on Amazon?...Were I come from we dont have Pokon or Ikea. We have Home Depot. Thank you..and sorry for my naiveness.😥 .
@@elsuperresuelve2869 It has a slight dust but not near as much as any other I've tried. Also, there's less trash (misshapen or leca pieces). All leca you buy will have dust, mishapened and cracked pieces but the hydroton is the best I've tried. When I first get it I cut a corner, and using a strainer I start rinsing all of it (I put the rinsed leca I in a clean bucket without water), then I spread it all in trays so it dry out out. I then rinse the the bag it came in and let it dry too. Once everything is dry again I pour it all back into the original bag. This way all I have to do is scoop out as much as I need, soak it for an hour (just so it has some water stored in it before using), I then take out all the cracked pieces and pot it up with the orchid. I K owe doingvut this way is a little llabor intensive but it works out better in the long run. Also, you don't have have to throw any of it away. Just boil it for 10-15 mins let it cool and detour again and out it back in the bag until you need it again. Its saved me so much money than when I was using all bark with my orchids. The yearly re-poting was very expensive. Now only a few are in back and all the others are in leca. It's great! I hope all this helped. Rowan
use plastic coated wire - lasts much longer, & will not be toxic to any roots that grow over it. No rust & looks natural if you get green plastic coated wire
Hey Danny, the structures you took there contain the spores. I saw a video in which a guy took those and pressed on them and collected them onto some paper. He then mixed it with water and put it into a spray bottle and sprayed a stone with it. The stone was covered in moss a few weeks later. I did not try this method, but I'm planning to do it. Here is a video, it is in german but I think it's easy to follow without understanding what he says. Unfortunatelly I cannot find the video with the spore-spray. He has so many :) th-cam.com/video/XAP8eUuAqVk/w-d-xo.html

Love your video 💓
They make several styles of these as wire curtain hooks professionally made in packs.
Moss is good good!!!!
Thank you so much. Excellent video . Love moss and Tolumnia! How is it doing?
When hanging Tolumnia, I attach the wire at the bottom of the basket. Enjoy
I put my Tolumnia on a mount, it's my first, so I hope it will do ok! I need to see how you killed your in one day video!

How is your miltonia sunset doing? Did you potted in moss or it is in leca
Hi, all Miltonias, Miltoniopsis or Oncidium intergenerics are in moss / moss mixes now :) they're doing much better!

My T was in moss, too wet, and it died.
Hi Danny. I wanted to ask about your other tols you put in the shells? Can you give an update?
Thanks,
Rowan
Yes, I was wondering about those as well.

Hi, most brands of LECA will work just fine, but from what I hear from my viewers, the brands they like most is Hydroton :)
@@MissOrchidGirl Thank you!! Have a great day!
Hydroton like Danny said is what I use. I buy it from amazon for about $17 for a 10ltr bag! So much cheaper than bark!

How do you water your tolimnia in the net pot?
Hi, very similar to this th-cam.com/video/4FUtocgDPmU/w-d-xo.html
