This video is AMAZING! It shows a person replacing a screen with the power on, which isn't a good thing to do to begin with. Then after rebooting, the power comes up a couple of percent. Watching the clock on the phone (which the video maker clearly tried to hide) it shows time increasing only 2 minutes to install a new screen. FANTASTIC! There is a massive time-shift on the phone when it goes to show the 2nd issue, which isn't even explained, but then it jumps back to the original time of 18:00 hours when it is fixed again. I wouldn't trust this guy to clean the screen on my phone, much less to take it apart and replace it.
I restarted mine and it came up immediately after it turned on saying " unable to work Touch ID "

It is the Virtual Home button, you can go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch to active it. More about it please visit here:goo.gl/feaH8E
Happened to me just today. What I done was attached it back to the other phone to make sure it wasn't the button. Once I eliminated that, believe it or not all I done was connected the home button before I connected the rest of the connectors back. I tried and it worked every time, the only time I got the error message is when I connected the home button first,, you're welcome!

Mine works, it is capable of scanning the finger AND is read by the phone itself, but it wont go home when pressed, its odd

Hi, the lower part of my screen didn't work so somebody fixed it by LCD replacement and then before I give my phone I reset it so the technician told me that touch id software is deactivated and there's nothing we can do. So is that true that we cannot do anything to fix my touch id? My fingerprint didn't work. Thanks!
If it is iPhone 7, after replacing the LCD screen, the Touch ID will not work. If it is iPhone 6, you replace the LCD screen but the Home button is the old one, it will continue work. If you also changed a new Home button, the Touch ID will not work.

You have to buy an original iphone screen from ebay, the chinese knockoff screens don't work with the home button.
I had my screen replaced and they swapped the button over to new screen but the button isn’t working and I tried everything to get it to work this button worked before screen replacement so I dont know the problem Apple iPhone 7 Gold A1660 sprint model
You should go back to the repair shop and ask them for a check. Maybe the home button flex cable is broken.

it means the iPhone battery is weak from the phone over heating.
i replaced my screen and still got my fingerprint scanner to work it dint work immediately but after about a week the home button started working but i couldn't use the fingerprint scanner but after about another week i was able to put in a fingerprint.

The iPhone 5s touch id was tied to the A7, so the touch ID will still not work.
Ah, ok. So the Apple, when change the Home Button or TouchID due to malfunction make a connect between TouchID and A7 and it works. Doesn't matter, without TouchID is the life more complicated, but iphone works. Thank you sir

This only works if you keep the ORIGINAL home button. Why don't people ever elaborate on things. If you don't use the ORIGINAL home button your touch ID will never work unless someone comes up with a program to re-program the Touch ID code to work with new home button
so just to make sure if i just buy the screen replacement and not the full lcd and screen then my touch id will still wok

Check your home button flex cable and connector, make sure they are in good condition. If they are damaged, the touch id will not work.

Who knows how to fix a ripped home button flex, It's ripped right at the top on home button and not flex cable so it would be a pretty tight fit if you were going to solder it or however you fix it, I'm willing to ship it out lol

I did it, the Touch ID is now working , but my iphone can not charge.
Check whether the charge port flex cable is broken or not, or whether the flex cable connector was connected well.
If this happened after a screen replacement and it still doesn’t work after a reset it is most likely to be a fake iphone screen that doesn’t respond to the Touch ID

You just need to replace the plate that comes with the flex cable, they're not expensive at most $15 dlls, if you replace the button the ID won't work ever again

My speaker works. Apparently T-Mobile rep had the same problem with his 7 and it forced him to upgrade
Basically... power off and wait a minute... then power back on fixed it. Video a bit confusing at first since there’s no explanation and he’s pressing all the buttons. Just power off... then on.

1. Check the home button flex cable to make sure it is in good condition. If the flex cable is broken, it will not work.
2.Try to reinstall the home button
mines was perfect then touch id stopped recognising fingerprints, then about a month later it failed and came up the error message, then now the home button doesn't work either ;-;
Hard reset your iPhone or upgrade the iOS to the newest to have a try. If it still not works, I guess the Home button is loosened or the flex cable is broken.
I dont know how you got the on screen home button to come up. Magic! It was not helpful without that knowledge.

In case your screen is replaced, and the home button where the touch ID is associated to the previous owner will still be there because it was not changed. Either you’re going to buy a new home button (Where Touch ID is compatible) and have it repaired again. This happened to me as well. If you guys can handle this. Then passcode is the other option you can have.

Second, why didn't you go a little faster and block the screen more with your fingers and use fewer closeups? I had absolutely no trouble keeping up.

You didnt actually do anything to make it work, just hit a bunch of random keys and restarted phone. That would not work, please let us know if you did anything different.
In most of the occasion, restart the iPhone can solve this issues, otherwise, make sure the connectors are connected well.

For all the Apple consumers who can't afford to pay $150 or don't want to waste their money to use Touch ID, Apple made their screens able to recognized non-Apple screens such as aftermarket and 3rd party screens as a way to force you all to spend $150 on their deal. Get your screen refurbished or buy one that has already been refurbished, and don't lose your original home button.
So for all your pissing about......all you did was restart the bloody phone. Fogs. I'll never get that time back I've just wasted.

The "menu button" in the top is the assistive touch. I'll bet he uses that to go back to the homescreen since obviously the home button was not working. Also, the japanese you see in the settings are names for the fingerprints that are added on the phone. Know what you're talking about next time
