Thanks for the detailed video, I’m doing my CORE this weekend and have no traditional hunting background. So I’ll be on my own so looking forward to your future videos.
    Cheers

I'll hopefully have part 2 out in the next few days here, so keep an eye out!

Great video man! This will be my first year hunting and I'm learning a lot just by watching your video. Keep them coming Chris!!

Great video man, a lot of good info for new hunters. Couldn’t agree more about Camo. I have almost no hunting clothing that is actual camo pattern. Playing the wind and movement is the crucial aspects of closing the distance. I also started out with the Savage axis as well and it’s taken a good amount of animals for me, upgraded same as you but still took my moose last fall with it. Looking forward to the next episode in the series. I’d recommend throwing some time stamps in the description so people can quickly reference back to certain spots in the videos if they want to check back on a certain item (boots or guns etc)

Appreciate the input man, and great idea with the time stamps, I'll be sure to pop those in there!
...wind and movement are by far the biggest pit falls for new hunters I think, and being camo'd up seems to give a sense of stealth that you very well may not have yet. I've seen guys camo'd out from head to toe get blown out at 400yds+ because they didn't play the wind right. That and rushing their stalk/shot...and that axis will always have a place in my safe. I'll probably show it a little love this year and turn it into a more dedicate predator rifle. Probably pop a bipod on it, change out the bolt and pop a vortex scope on it. 👍

Good info Chris! The overwhelming majority of hunters are well served with a mid range 3-9x scope. I’m also very happy with my vortex 10x42 binoculars. Only thing I’d say is binoculars should be mandatory, a rifle scope is not for glassing

That’s a very good point, I’ll definitely make sure to bring it up in the backcountry safety portion of the series 👌
