    Pushing the physical limits of your body pre puberty is actually really bad for your potential growth. Especially a child his age, it’s common for children who are pushed too far in athletics (usually by their parents) to have a lot of issues in their knees and heels as the growth spurts theyre going through can make the soft tissues get overstrained easily

    • @MsSphinx91

      Well the Jamaican accent (not the patwah dialect, which is different) does have roots in the Scots-Irish accents. The plantation overseers would have mostly been Scottish or Irish, which would have an influence on the accents of the slaves who were learning English. So all these accents might sound vaguely like one another, especially if someone is trying to fake one of them.

    This is surreal 😂
    First off, the boy has the most stereotypical posh English accent, while his parents have Scottish and Northern accents...? Sureee... 😅
    Secondly, we never had lockers in school. The wide corridors with lockers lining the walls is not very common in British schools, they had thin corridors that kids would sit down in and stretch their legs across so you had to step over them if you wanted to get past. The only lockers we had was a small clump which you had to apply for and had a waiting list... So we just carried everything 🤷‍♀️
    Lastly, the teachers were everywhere. There was never really a chance for bullies to pin someone up against a wall unless it was in the loo, because the teachers were always rushing around to different rooms...
    That was my experience anyway...

    Also excessively exercising when you’re pre pubescent can stunt your growth. Look at gymnasts, or how I was a dancer and I’m almost positive that having such low body fat before and during puberty stunted my growth. Lol so it might actually have the opposite effect than intended.

    • @SoniaAlese

      I think that’s just because shorter people have an advantage in gymnastics. There’s kids who play basketball throughout their life and they don’t turn out super short. Malnutrition is definitely the bigger issue.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gymnasts are short limbed because it's easier to be good with that body shape, it's not a result of gymnastics. I did a lot of gym as a child & saw plenty of taller kids reach a limit, or get told they couldn't achieve to the level they wanted. Professionals can also spot potential talent in kids, so set them on that path early.
      Reducing your calories on the other hand does stunt growth. Many female professional athletes end up having their periods stopped due to low weight & pushing their bodies so hard, it's not healthy. I am sorry if you experienced poor treatment & hope you are more healthy now but still able to enjoy dance, in whatever capacity.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@madiz4228 I think you may underestimate how much working out & all round conditioning is involved in basketball. In NZ, flat vowel substitutions are as follows:
    a = e (You have a friend called Anna? You call her 'enna')
    e = i (Have a friend named Emma? Call her 'imma')
    i = u (Lost your train ticket? Better ask people if they've seen your train 'tucket')

    this just reminded me of the fact that not only do i (american) still have stress dreams about being back in high school in america, but i also have stress dreams about being an exchange student in high schools in different countries. usually the main language spoken in these countries is not english (in which case my brain switches every conversation to spanish, the only other language i know but that is not my mother tongue- i guess to signify "english is not as widely spoken here but this is a dream so we have to be able to understand what's being said Somehow, and logically if we were in an exchange program to a specific country, we probably would've learned at least a bit of the language beforehand"). but every now and then it's a school somewhere in the uk. many times during these uk school dreams i've had a moment where i realized mid conversation that i've been doing what's probably a really bad british accent the whole time (as though it's another language or something, and that if i did go to the uk i would be expected to talk to people in one of the accents of the area???). of course i am then appropriately mortified. but nobody has brought up my accent, so i wonder if it's better than i thought, and am presented with the dilemma: do i drop the accent now and force everyone to acknowledge it, or keep it going and just hope people aren't just staying quiet out of politeness? it haunts me. but yeah anyway i'm super normal about socializing

    A tip for anyone doing a British accent, from a tired Brit: don't drop the middle 'D' in 'didn't' while keeping the rest of the word the same. You can keep it in to be safe, but if you're feeling brave then say it like "dint". It's supposed to sound faster and smoother, not like you swallowed a fly in the middle of the word.
