    After listening to Barbara I have started to end my hot shower with cold water. Don‘t know if my brain is working better but definitely my resting heart rate can drop down to the 40’s !! I‘ve been doing intermittant fasting, mostly 16-8, somethings as long as 19 hours. I also started the mini-trampoline jumps 3 weeks ago and can do 20 minutes every day now. I’m 64 and I‘ve never felt so great in my life! Thank you so much ❤

      Same here. Try HIIT on the trampoline. 20 seconds fast run and 2 minutes easy walk.
      Repeat 5 times. It works for me.

      You should NOT shock your body with (ice) cold showers, because of the danger of a heart damage. Instead you should ALWAYS go slowly into the cold to give your heart time to get used to the situation.

    My brain has been getting unbelievably sharp and strong the last 3 years as I'm pushing towards 50. I had not seen this vid until today. I thought it might be due to cleaner diet, yoga and breathing techniques alone. However, in the last 3-4 years, I have reduced my meals to 2. Brunch at 11am-12midday. Then Dinner at 7-8pm the latest. Sometimes I don't eat a full second meal, just fruits or veges. That's intermittent fasting. I have been doing the high intensity interval training for well over 4 years (now started wrestling which is by faaar the hardest training in all sports). Finally, in the last 2 years, I've been taking a 15minute hot shower followed by a 30-60 seconds cold shower specially in cold winter (to boost my immune system).
    So there's something to what Barabara is pointing out. I'm the guinea pig example. Although, there is a downside to this broadening field of observation, processing and capacity of the brain. You see and understand too much of what's going on in our world and that there is not much you can do to change it, other than working on yourself to be the change you want to see in the world. It's a lonely road and everybody sees you as an outcast.

    • @rodrigobautista5640
      @rodrigobautista5640 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You sound really interesting. What type of breathing techniques do you use?

    • @aslantheguardian9008
      @aslantheguardian9008 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @rodrigobautista5640 Greetings Rodrigo. The name of the breathing technique is: Nadhi Shodhana. Nadhis are the two energy channels from midbrain to sacrum and back up. Shodhana is clearing/balancing the energy in the channels and chakras. I've modified this technique to include breath holds in (morning) and out (evening) as well as 3 point diaphragm locks in the pelvis, solar plexus and throat.
      My circadian rythm had been off due to Many years of shift work and I could not sleep. This technique has reset my circadian rhythm and my sleep has gotten better.
      I've been studying, practicing and teaching Yoga for years and know my body well so this technique is safe for me. If you're interested in doing this technique (the basic Nadhi Shodhana - not including holds and locks), please learn it from an experienced yoga teacher in person. Then run it by your medical practitioner to make sure it is safe for you. The basic Nadhi Shodhana is not dangerous and Anyone can do it. But it doesn't hurt to make sure.
      A-Dios 🙏

    Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam, we fast for an entire month of Ramadan from sunrise to sunset and it cultivates self discipline, spiritual growth and empathy for the poor.
    After a month of fasting It feels like a reset for the body, the brain and the soul.
    It removes cravings, desires and stabilizes blood sugar levels.

      The claims were studied, but the premise would be a little bit misleading. Many things improve the connections of neuron cells, and stimulate the growth of new brain cells including reading, learning new things, social interactions, healthy diet, getting enough sleep,handling stress to reduce cortisol. So its quite nuanced topic, and it may sound really good, but its basically is maintaining your brain healthy functionality, not becoming a genius. She gives a bit far end "extreme" examples, but exercise in any form promotes neurogenesis, and even things like caffeine do. Anyway these are the studies related to the topic

      Just imagine yourself in a situation where your body gets a shock. All the sudden, only important stuff matters, thats why the brain gets rid of unnecessary cells and creates new ones to fight what is coming.

    Body/Brain shockers
    1. Fasting - big breakfast, big lunch, 18 hour fast til next meat
    2. Follow every hot shower with a quick cold shower.
    3. High intensity interval training... run hard 30 seconds up hill, then break, then repeat.
