The magazine literally says +1 on it after the 6th round on both magazines the casings are the same on both stock magazines but the one that has a grip extension allows you to get 7 in it so I understand why he would think you'd be able to get 7 in the other one... I own this gun
FYI I had an issue with my .45 Shield stippling grip rubbing my side raw when carry. I placed a very nice Hogue Grip on my Shield & I absolutely love it!!! Better recoil & much better control of the pistol!!! I highly recommend a Hogue Grip on the Shield!!!!

I like my Shield 45 a lot. Pearce grips makes a finger extension for the 6 round mag that adds a little control without affecting concealment. Hyve makes a +1 for the 7 rounder. I put Talon grips on mine. Plus Ameriglo I Dot Pros. Now the gun is perfect. Great edc gun.
I have the Shield 9 and Shield 45 and have never had issues with the slide stop inadvertently releasing the slide. More people complain that it is so secure they can't use it as a slide release. Handling the 45 acp is a piece of cake.
if you keep using it as a release it will wear and not lock back plain and simple wear and tear the more you use it as a release the more its gonna wear till it wont lock back
I carry mines with a holster that has a padded texture where the grip lies on your hip. Tell your friend get a raw dog holster and it'll feel like leather rubbing against his hip rather than 800 grit sandpaper lol

Been carrying this ccw for over a year now, it's by far my favorite I've carried, before that it was a g19.to be plain spoken there were times it was a pain- watching how I dress, slightly uncomfortable at times, always aware of it but still love the g19 however with the shield 45 there have been many many times in the beginning I felt like I wasn't carrying and had to check.any handgun that can make me feel that is exactly what you want in a ccw.is so a part of you it's hardly noticed. btw I really got lucky-got on a great psa sale so after s&w rebate my total was $219. Got to love those guys at psa and s&w.It's a solid shooter, pretty impressed with accuracy didn't expect it with the short barrel, I've ran everything fmj,jhp +p, etc and havnt had any issues, except in the first 2 months the guide rod spring retaining rivet came out.no problem s&w took good care of me and sent a whole new guide rod/spring assembly within 4 days no charge and was able to keep old one. New one had a mod to fix issue 5400rds later it's all solid.lots of fun to shoot.I have big meat hook hands and have no problem at all fits good.

Yes, you can sand the stippling if you find it's too rough. In my case, I was getting quite a bit of rubbing from it right through a heavy t-shirt (OWB holster in 4 o'clock position) so I took some emery paper to it and that helped some. I was still feeling kinda raw from it though when I thought about putting a Houge slip-on grip on it. Boy, that sure did the trick. No more raw kidney, nice cushion for the web of my thumb, and it fills my big hand a lot better. So far I've got about 3,000 rounds through mine and it's my #1 carry gun. with a snug-fitting leather pancake holster (DeSantis is my choice) and a loose-fitting outer shirt (I usually rock some nice Hawaiian shirts) the only way you're going to know I CCW is if you become a serious threat. I usually carry with the 6 round mag in the gun (with a Pearce finger extension) +1 in the chamber and a pair of the 7 round mags, one in each leg pocket of my cargo pants. The extra mags are not because I expect to do a 21 gun salute but because malfunctions happen, usually from a bad mag, and it's fast & easy to clear the weapon, insert a new mag and continue on. Having a spare mag on each side also allows for reloading if wounded and unable to use one arm/hand. My .45 Shield cost me $299.99 from PSA and then that $75 rebate took it down to $225.00 Not a bad deal for a gun I'll be passing down one day.
Truly best for CCW. I grew up and love hammer fired autos but since purchasing this as you say it’s great for EDC, HD and more. Just saw this video and it’s great. Recoil is less than larger 45 pistols , accuracy superior.
Just be advised that cleaning the .45 Shield 8-round mag is not easy. In the 8-round mag, the steel base plate fits onto the magazine column with two small legs that protrude. After the polymer plate slides onto the bottom of the mag, you've got to manipulate the steel plate through the polymer plate's "window" to collapse that steel plate up in the polymer plate. That's what gives you the 8th round. It may be a learning curve thing, but I struggled with putting that mag back together like no other.
Just wear a good undershirt. A compression T under your shirt. You will not feel the rub from the texture anymore. BCG from Academy Sports make great ones for a great price.
I got a question about this 45 model. I just bought one brand new a few days ago but haven't had a chance to take it out and test it yet. I have one concern. I have seen many videos of people shooting the 9mm model, and a lot of them had problems with the slide not locking back on the last shot. Was that improved upon with the M&P 45 Shield? from my understanding the 45 model inherited some of the improvements of the 2.0 over the Gen 1 Shield, so is this a thing with the 45 shield with the slide failing to lock back on the last shot?
The 45 fits almost all the 9 & 40 shield holsters out there. I carry mine in my 9mm crossbreed mini tuck and it fits perfectly. The magazines even fit my crossbreed 9mm mag holster was a little snug but easily done. Just a money saving heads up for those that own both.
Awesome review, I pick up one last Monday and was able to take it out today, I put about 200 rds through it. Some Federal HST 230 gr and some Underwood 230 gr all work great and not one hiccup. I talk with Underwood and he said what best for this little gun is xtp 185 gr and 200 gr will work great, because of the short barrel, he also mention the Underwood 120 gr Xtreme Defender. I need to take it out some more of course but it's a keeper for sure. I did had the XDs .45 but I sold it, I like the Shield better now it's my edc. Great video.
This is a wonderful little carry gun.Ive been carrying it for 2 years now.So easy to carry,accurate,and has chewed and spit out all ammo ive run through it from the cheapest ball ammo to the best self defense hollow points.Its very accurate for a little 45.Ive shot the single stack Glocks and must say i like the Sheild's more.Smith & Wesson hit it out of the park with this one
I own & carry a S&W M&P Shield.45 as my EDC!! Absolutely love it!! I also carry my Glock G21 with 13+1 .45 capacity!! Can’t beat that!!! Love both pistols & trust them both with my life! Great video & subscribed!!!
more than a 1911... no hate just expierence out of 4 1911s I have owned a taurus ran everything a tisas gi model ran everything a tisas duty was too picky and a 9mm Springfield ro lw was picky on hollow points too many things that could go wrong on a tightly built gun like a 1911

The mags get easier, the more times you load them. That’s why I always shoot both mags when I take it out for practice

If you are used to a Glock, you won't like the spring of the slide. It's very stiff

With the &75 rebate I ended up spending $261 for mine. That is including a $20 transfer and $16 shipping. $261 for a 45ACP? That's a no brainer.

I hae the 4p and REALLY like it a lot. However, ad you mentioned, the mags are rrdiculasly difficult to load.
Loading the mags are insane.

Just bought one of these because Glock doesn’t make a compact .45 this small. It’s nearly the same size as my Glock 43.
For me its the 40 cal. Shield....comfy and WHAMABLE!

You can load the magazine much easier when they break-in with use. Also a magazine loader helps.
The magazines loosen up with use. But you're right they're a bear when first get them.

It's not intended for a pocket pistol,it would kill a 400 Bear with a head,it's a pistol to shoot, anyway u WANT!I get 7+1 in mine.
