- Let's go exploring for gems on a river along the North Shore of Lake Superior! I was able to get out on this adventure with many thank to our uncommonly warm winter! I found Lake Superior agates, one of the most beautiful pieces of prehnite I have ever found, and a gorgeous chunk of Mary Ellen jasper!

I found a saying that immediately made me think of you. "Not all who wander are lost. Some of us are just looking for rocks." Thanks for freezing your ...everything...off so we could see all the beautiful finds.
It reminds me of hundreds of desert roses.... beautiful as is!
Thanks for being a trooper and tolerating the cold weather. Really liked the Maryellen jasper! Beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The maryellen jasper is pretty!
Absolutely it is!
That prehnite came from a BIG vug/vein, and didn’t travel too far. I’d be looking real hard for the source.
It looks like a dragon head!! I hope he doesn't cut it!
Thank you for braving the cold for us on your adventure. ❤️😃
Any time!
Totally awesome my little Rocker ,
Too cold for me!! I loved all the jaspers. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Toothbrush with Barkeeper's Friend. That's a mild acid found in tomatoes. You could also soak it in vinegar for a little while then neutralize it with a little baking soda in water.
Oxalic acid is used to clean quartz crystals, it'll probably work on other minerals as well.
The Maryellen is an awesome find. Going to look pretty awesome when it's cut and polished. I think you should take a small cut off the phrenite, would like to see what that looks like inside. 👍
How brave! The prenite looks like roses! ❤
It does!
I love that the phoenixes bots look like tiny rosebuds! Thanks for risking frostbite of the wazoo to find it.
make sure you're keeping an eye out for arrowheads
You can use muriatic acid to clean prehnite. I have some beautiful specimens that I found at the Cliff mine in Michigan.
Thanks for the tip!
I do not know if this helps, but an alternative to music acid is a product called Acid Magic. It is safe on your skin. We use it to dip sea shells and it works just as good as music acid. Thought it was worth a mention.
I believe muriatic acid is HCl. You can get it at pool stores. I would dilute it and progress toward higher concentrations. If you are used to the concentration of vinegar, acetic acid, used for cooking, this is much stronger.
Agate, dad. Use warm water and dawn dish soap. With a very soft toothbrush, it will clean that up perfectly. And get the dirt out.
I love going out rock hounding. There is a small canyon less than 3 miles away from my house and recently the river in the canyon changed its path and it exposed a lot of sandstone rock with shell fossils in it. I love seeing new areas in your videos
Thank you. ✌️😊
I had lots of those rocks even way shiny than what you got...more like diamond 💎
Thank You 👍
Omg so jealous of that second prehnite 😭 that one was gorgeous i wish i had stuff like that out where i am lol i would have rannn to that spot if i was close to pick her up 🤣
My mom got me a piece of prehnite as a Christmas gift and it has the same type of formations as that one, except mine is bright mint green! Awesome finds!
Nice!!
Thanks for the video.
Nice collection
very pretty
What a great video. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love me some maryellen jasper.
I would have taken the big piece of phrenite home. The crystals and colors were amazing? I love the rock with the geode pockets. I hope you took that home - so unique. Isn't stuff like that called universe stone or something because when it's cut It looks like stars and planets? I think I might have seen Theo Kellison or Montana Rocks cut some. The MaryEllen jasper is beautiful! Thanks for explaining that it is a fossil. Awesome.
So cool, I did enjoy this a lot. Wish I was you out there but I'd rather deal with warmth instead. 👍💕
Awesome! I've been such a sloth, even though it's been so warm. 😅
Love the prehnite....always looking to upgrade my previous best piece.
Always!
My those are some very pretty rocks
Very nice ❤❤❤❤❤❤👍
There was a video about 2 months ago by Agate Ariel regarding cleaning rocks with a steam cleaning tool with pretty good success☺️
Always look forward to seeing your posts...... just a thought , have you ever considered laser to clean your rocks 'cause I see them used to clean rust from automotive parts.
You never know it could simplify the process without any damage. Good luck!
Good morning. Here from Rochelle Virginia.
Looks like this is gonna be a good one.
Hope you enjoy!
Try applying a runny paste of borax & warm water. Then use a soft brush to massage it into the crevasse. Rinse well.
nice finds - youre always lucky! 😊👍🏻
Sometimes!
You could try soaking it the denture tabs. The kind that some people use to clean their dentures with.
Hey! Nice finds!
thanks!
Steam cleaners clean quartz pretty well
great video and great finds!! have a good day and week!
Thank you! You too!
@@AgateDad your welcome and thank you! You too
That first gray one you talked about looks like an alligator's head
Muriatic Acid? Another rockhound i follow sometimes cleans her rocks and crystals with it.
I grew up on the north shore of the lake and was surrounded by pebbles
I seen another rock hunter steam clean those n it helped
I've seen Agate Ariel use an ultrasonic cleaner.
Try using steam to clean that rock. It should clean up real well.
Brrrrr...we are going rock hunting today near fish town michigan...
Where in Wisconsin do you look for these beauties. I live in SE Wisconsin and want to go this spring.
While you're out hunting, make sure you view the Northern Lights tonight!
I wish!!!
You could try to sonic clean it.
The yellow and black striped stone is banded iron. I know this from a video made by Theo Kellison
I thought it was tigers eye
7:27 Terror Dog head
Hey 👋 I have a question , you talk about, bands, in the stones, what is that, you know how it forms 🍀🙋🏻♀️🇮🇸
Brrr that looks cold
It was!
❤❤❤❤❤
Grat rocks. Have you tried cleaning the prinite with your water pick?
I don’t have a pick
My goodness, all those expensive belts and saws and other equipment and you can't afford a Waterpick (R)(tm)? You could even share it with your wife and children.@@AgateDad 😁🪥⛲
How do you decide whether or not to cut an agate open?
So are you closer to where are I see you rock hunting a lot or are you down towards the twin cities more? Just curious cuz I'm just north of the twin cities a little bit.
I’m in Minnesota somewhere 😅
You can use denture tablets to clean it up good
All were a sweet find but that agate❤ keep on licking !!
Would iron out be any good to try take the red off??
Red off of the jasper?
@@AgateDad hahaha nope the botriotal bubbles sorry probably spelled wrong...
that's tiger iron
Minnesota doesn’t have that unfortunately
Citric acid
👍👍👍🤩💖
The find at 3:30 is a banded iron formation!
Thanks dude!
Spell check slaughtered my comment. I meant, “phrenite.”
How do you spell premite
Prehnite
Nice finds! I always learn something new from you!🪨❤
