Samuel I'm glad they didn't put it on rust in peace. As much as I love this song I think it would have felt like a tack on - a song that doesn't fit with the flow or themes on the album. Theme wise it suits peaces sells more matching songs like the conjuring, good morning black friday etc however musically is closer to a rust in peace song with Friedman's influence
@@Metlson I love that ascending diminished line Marty plays in the beginning that hits a climax when the band hits a rest while he lingers on those 2 eerie notes a minor 2nd apart, leading the way for the band to storm in with another cadaverous progression! The vibe conveyed from that beginning segment alone was sadistically darker and heavier than majority of metal tracks during that time. It struck a level of elegance in its pacing and non diatonic movement that even Slayer falls short of achieving that calibre of caliginous harmonic structure in their songs! In some ways you can even hear how hard Slayer tries to sound dark, but typically results in overused cliches that lack originality and demonic atmosphere to truly invoke a shiver in my spirit.
This song is so fucking bad ass. That opening sounds like it would be on Peace Sells and that Riff sounds heavy as fuck. Dave finishes with an amazing solo!!
absolutely incredible solo from Marty - but Dave's accentuating trade off leads are absolutely metal magic and perfect - can't think of 2 very different yet complimentary guitar styles since Don Felder and Joe Walsh of Eagles. not taking anything away from Kiko he has taken Megadeth in a phenomenal direction musically (poisonous shadows - brilliant song) - its just that rarely you get 2 of these guitar gods at the same time at the right place and time and magic happens.
Not gonna wake up today They pull my plug, the picture fades And as my body decays mold begins to fill my grave The smell of death permeates The silk within my coffin lays As they bury me now, six feet There my body lies Still feels like I'm going down I hear a distant, wailing cry: "God, something must've gone wrong!" Much too late I realize I saw my funeral that day, I know who didn't show to mourne My judgement was life in hell Pillars of pain and thorns My only friend is the goat "666" between his horns Place all your trust here in me And rest assured, these things I know As Charon sails the sea Your journey, too, shall end below Ahh, yes, you're all sitting ducks It's true you real what you sow Now I lay me down to sleep Blah blah blah my soul to keep If I die before I wake I'll go to hell for heaven's sake
I consider this the golden age of Megadeth, Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, and David Ellefson, all in the band, all playing Jackson guitars before they were bought up by Fender and to top everything off you have the integral backbone, Nick Menza who just makes any piece sound the world of a time better.
I remember seeing segments of this on Headbanger's Ball and thinking, "Where in the world can I get a copy of this whole show?" Back then, without youtube, and internet, it was impossible to find.
A well oiled machine.....And, no guitar looks as righteous in Mustaine's hands, than the Jackson King V. Sorry, Dean. Wish Dave would play the King V again before he retires.........
Foundations Forum 1991. I saw this covered by Headbangers Ball probably the day after or a week after. Lots of bands featured, including a lot of grunge. It was the beginning of the end for metal's popularity.
Blows the mind this epic song. I like it...too much then when I sing. It sometimes feels the feeling that you makes you feel like this kind of sound ..very creepy.
Menza is the fucking best, love his drumming. And Friedman - argh what a golden era
rip nick
and yeah, friedman is probably the most underrated guitarist ever
W4R P1G YES!
The best line-up.
@@zanearmstrong6776 i don't think you know what underrated means
This song is so underrated!
because this song doesn't have an album until 95, if they put it in rust in peace album at that time, it could've been.
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

No, they're all.... HIDDEN TREASURES
Thankfully... Hidden Treasures!
U forgot no more Mr nice guy !
All of hidden treasures are hidden treasures 😂
ABSOLUTELY !!!They are hidden treasures indeed ! Cheers from Morocco
You know you won an important award when it is announced by Lemmy Kilmister!
The original big four: Mustaine, Ellefson, Friedman and Menza. Killer combo.
The original was with Gar and Poland but ok
@@Parka_Nielvery true
Slayer with Jeff and Dave was the second Big Four.
@@mrfanta7841Eric Adams, Joey DeMaio, Scott Columbus and Karl Logan might be the third
They were Un-Touchable at this time......Tight and On Point! \M/
Yep. With Dave's voice sounding that good. They were perfection.
Agreed. 1990 and 1991 were the band's best years. Dave's vocals are at their best in this vid.
One of their best performances...
Awesome!
@@SuperStrik9 + 1992 because of marty's solo and hair
Dave is a really badass guy in this period!
*Dave is a really badass guy whatever the time period!

heavymetal9404 hes a bad ass every period
And he’s hot asf no homo
I just love this guy so much. Incredibly awesome and very badass to the core🤟🎸.
This version is plain perfect.. Better than recording! Bass sounds clear!
Disagree, better than the recording theres nothing. But this performance is flawless and amazing
Marty is just different from any guitar player I ever heard how can someone be this melodic and musical and technical and unique like that
This song is so fucking bad ass. That opening sounds like it would be on Peace Sells and that Riff sounds heavy as fuck. Dave finishes with an amazing solo!!
He was so angry. Perfect.
Angry Againn!!
Mustaine was the baddest motherfucker on the planet in 1991.
\m/😬\m/
Dave Mustaine was such a goddamn gorgeous man. Wish this was the 80s and 90s again.

Hahaha! So freeeeeeeeaking HOT:-)
Such a perfectly haunting riff behind the solo's.
Guitar tone, bass breaks through mix, beast drum , great vocals , guitars solos , this is like my top 5 song form Megadeth!!!
mother god I almost forgot what a musical freight train theses guys were
ÁUß Code well, they're not together anymore (at least this lineup) and Menza is dead, so... "were" is kind of accurate
Yep the music especially... the riffs, the solos... so awesome
This iteration of Megadeth was simply incredible. God, these guys were great together....
R.I.P Nick Menza
"SUCC AND SESS"
- Quotes of great people.
How can you not love Friedman? Every time he plays the song gets better 🙂
Morbid lyrics with a monster guitar riff gotta love MEGADETH !!
MY FAVORITE LINEUP ALL TIME: Mustaine,Friedman,Ellefson,& Menza. \m/ 😈 \m/
The best megadeth ever at that time.
I'm more partial to the Gar/Poland era but love this era as well
I miss Dave's Snarling vocals when he says "go to hell"!!! Lol
They lost a bit of that tongue-in-cheek edge after this lineup.
This is one of my favorite Megadeth songs.
Marty's solo's are just shivering in this!the man's a god
His tone, phrasing, and vibrato exist within completely different universes of their own!🤘
No other guitarist can compare!🙅♂️
"To me success is 2 words, suc and cess, it's up to you to put them together again"
Wut.
Suck & Sex
HAHAHAHA
I think he was going for something like "you can't say 'I succeed' without first saying 'I suck'" but yeah that made no sense
I thought he said sass
Cess, like cesspool - "a filthy and corrupt place".
It's up to you if "sucking and cess" can turn into success, if you don't compromise integrity.
Friedman taught himself how to play, then went on to give Becker lessons. Two of the baddest guitarists ever!
Let's not forget that awesome bass, especially during the solos.
He's a wizard by his electric, Jackson model guitar
Dave's solos are great I love his solos very tasteful.
2:47 I just love how menacing his voice sounds right here 😭🔥🔥
When Megadeth was mighty and simply perfect!
Go to hell.. I'm still cranking this in 2018! Deth 4 Life!
Amazing lead trade-offs! At that time they were untouchable. Complex, tight, and simply amazing!
Omg David's voice is from hell that time
This song have one of the best dual guitar work ever
The very song where you can hear the transition between Rust in Peace and Countdown.
I'm obsessed with this solo
God damn his voice was so fresh and flourishing.
1:24 that classical lick
Best line up ever !! Marty and Menza Fuckin killing it !! Glad I got to see these guys back in the day. 🤘🤘

Damn... this is undoubtedly the true *Megadeth* 🔥💯💯
Not gonna wake up today

And as my body decays

The silk within my coffin lays
As they bury me now, six feet

I hear a distant, wailing cry:

Much too late I realize
I saw my funeral that day,
I know who didn't show to mourne
My judgement was life in hell
Pillars of pain and thorns
My only friend is the goat
"666" between his horns
Place all your trust here in me
And rest assured, these things I know
As Charon sails the sea
Your journey, too, shall end below
Ahh, yes, you're all sitting ducks
It's true you real what you sow
Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah blah blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake
Oh yeah, Go to hell

Play again, again, again and again.. fuck this song is sick.. very underrated song from Megadeth..
His snarling vocals in this really make the song.
Thank you...PRECIOUS footage!
Best line up in the best year of the best thrash band. The amount of angry from Dave, mainly... amazing.
Anyone that hasn't heard the cover of this song by The Black Daliah Murder should drop what they're doing and listen immediately.
I love the bass in the solo part
