Guys, let’s start practicing the handstand hold together! And maybe one day I’ll show my results on my TH-cam
Dude, I’ve been attempting handstands fairly consistently for about 3weeks but hadn’t gotten a hold longer than a couple seconds. After watching this and incorporating the grip and focus techniques I just held a handstand for almost 10 seconds! I couldn’t believe a few small changes could make such a big difference! I’m super excited to progress using the these tips!
Dude! That’s awesome I’m glad it helped. I had the same experience it’s crazy how much a few small changes can help. Congrats on the hold tho and keep it up!
Bro im so annoyed, i know all the theory about the handstand, but i dont manage to hôd it for than 3 secs, and ive been training for months. Idk why but i always fall backwards so i release my fingers but i dont manage to push in my palm so my handstand fails. And also sometime i struggle with the kick up, like once it’s good and once it’s completely trash
@@slapy5820 I'm the same, I've been trying for 2 3 months and best I got was maybe 6 7 seconds and I can do a 10 second front lever and one arm pull ups but I struggle with handstands😂 I think it just takes time and using the wall to touch and get back to position is probably the best one but its still too easy compared to no wall Idk really still trying to learn it
Tip for any beginner: make sure your hand are directly under ur shoulders and not forward or back too much. I was struggling at first because i didn’t have the right posture
Finally someone who talks about strength. Thank you for stating the fact strength is a major part in this especially as we get older and have let it go. Thank you for not taking rubbish about getting your handstand in 3 easy steps that only take 10 to 15 mins.
Handstand has levels, we never stop improving. Hold, correct posture, learn to walk backwards, forwards, sideways, fixing eyes on the floor, with eyes closed, without looking down, moving your head, hold for at least 2 minutes, learn press handstand, one arm handstand and much, much more. It's like a child learning to balance, then walk, run, dance and so on. It takes years... I've been practicing for 14 years now and I'm always learning, things are always evolving and changing, there comes a time when you enter a kind of trance and you're floating and you can't fall, even if they try to knock you down. I just think these "sets" are too modest, it suggests 10/15/10, at least. Daily workouts of at least one hour. Good training!
Finally someone that explains everything properly. You watch some videos and they're giving you some type of motivational speech. I do not need to hear, so once again. Thank you for your perfect explain video.
The best tutorial of HANDSTAND on youtube, i recommand watching this video it the best i ever watched during my research of the suitable one ,because the steps of progression are so organized
This is by far the best handstand tutorial. I appreciate the arrows you added as to which direction the core and the glutes are felt, and the clear focus point to look. Thanks also for mentioning the strength that takes to keep being on the hands. So thorough. Huge thanks 👍👍👍
You had me at the wall walk when you said, "It may seem like you are going to flip over and die, but that's good!"😂😂😂 Best way to describe that. I'm working on my handstands and for sure my issue is still balance. Thank you for making this video. Definitely going to keep practicing 💪💪
3:08 the release your fingers really really improved my handstand like now i can hold it for 10-15 seconds , before i knew this it was like only 6 seconds thanks a lot bro ❤
Thank you for this! I have such a big fear of standing upside down, which now has become my motivation to learn a fricking handstand! This makes it seem so-able : )
Bro I felt this one as I am still learning the handstand after practicing calisthenics (off and on) for about 2 years.. Now taking a more serious approach to it, this will help massively
This video has the best explanation ever. Like seriously. The first things u show could literally be the exercise for me. Saved this in my playlist tysm collin! 🥳🎀 ij definitely gonna have a fun week.
Thank you for this videooo I used to do gymnastics for a couple years when i was younger and did handstands ALL the time; I could hold one for as long as i wanted tbh 😭 Your channel is currently helping me to build my strength back up so I can get my skills back. Keep doing what ur doing man 💪🏿 🌝
Hey Colin, thank you for the content. You're doing a great job, love your presentation style and it's very realistic and relatable. I hope you keep at this, because your style of sharing knowledge is very practical. I personally don't have access to a gym, and watching your videos - I have learnt to do so much just at home. I have Resistance Bands, and the rest I just incorporate through body weight exercises. Keep at it, and Good luck!
This video came at the perfect time for me. Really want to start getting good at handstands so will definitely be using all of this advice. Would love to see you cover other holds like the L sit or the Planch. Thanks for the quality 💪🏾
When I first tried to learn the handstand I noticed my shoulder mobility was bad, mostly due to tight lats. This meant I couldn't align my body properly when standing without a wall, even if I can do multiple hspu against a wall I also realized how important it is to actively push against the floor, because a lot of the balance comes from the shoulders
Im getting there with Handstand pushups which I never thought i'd be able to do. The handstands on dipbars im not there yet, I fell once and felt it was too much of a dangerous risk and I was clearly not ready. Consistency and progress is what keeps me going. Calisthenics is my therapy, enjoyed your video! My longest handstand hold is 22 seconds, average is about 10-15secs, it's encouraging!
Excellent video. Concise, focus on key points in a very direct and simplified way. Perhaps one important thing it's missing in this video is to tell beginners the importance of warming up wrists and shoulders before each practice to avoid injuries. Apart from that, great work Collin!
Truly amazing this video is .. love the outdoor scenes .. saw a lot of snow and wondered how cold that was for you .. Learned a lot from this one .. especially the importance of hand positioning in a claw rather than flat .. The ones where you fell were hard to watch .. ouch! .. really encourages guys trying to master this because you persevere until you get there .. Btw .. nice to see you used some padding under you head in some o f these discounts and handstands.. best way to avoid concussions :) Progress and persistence rules the day .. loved this video.. your courageous attitude and demeanor are just as important as your patient and considerate delivery .. you are a great guy Colin .. you treat everyone who watches like a friend .. and that is why they continue to do so 🤗 Jen999💙
The game changer for me was finding something I could support my feet with above me so I could get into perfect form using support and then release. It really helped me learn what that form feels like. (also film it!)
Great video! If anyone is gonna try this one, be sure to do a really good warm up, specially for your wrists (elbows and shoulders too) and give yourself a day or two to rest between sessions. Handstands and movement patterns alike are great excercises, but really harsh on the joints, and without caution they can cause short and long term damage on tendons, specially if you are not used to them. Enjoy and good luck to everyone! 🎉.
Thank you so much for all of your videos! they keep me motivated and make me believe in my ability to progress and perform all these amazing sporty things; handstand being the dream No1 🐥❤️ all the best to you!!

was making good progress on these a couple years ago, could do 10 handstand pushups against a wall, could do one and a half free standing handstand pushups, could take several steps on my hands, etc, but this trigger point knot in my left trap would flair up into these terrible migraines. had to go to PT with dry needling to get it to calm down enough. have tried a few overhead presses real gentle still and nope, that knot comes right back. wish I could keep going with these. was fun to impress the teenagers
Love the vid Colin, great advice as always. Key takeaway for me was practising the hip twist dismount. I have found when practising on soft surfaces, a gymnast roll forwards (tucking chin and lowering shoulders forward into a smooth roll) felt natural and kinetically fun to do, but it does have a bit of a dicey vibe.
Bro just wanted to tell you that I've watching handstand videos here and there for last 2 years . But it's after this video I finally made itt😃😃 Thank you bro love from india❤️
The reason why in my gymnastics class they told us to look back whiles doing the handstand is cus then the back is more straight and it’s better for the back
Been trying to work towards a handstand recently, but it feels so hard. I can see significant progress training for the front lever, but for handstand, all I can see is that now I can hold hte frog stand longer thats it.
Hey this is great! I’m currently learning, I’m trying to perfect the wall climbing but still getting over the fear of “I’m gonna fall and die if I get any closer” 😅 but I still get close enough I guess. - that tip about the hip and twist when falling is really helpful so thanks for that!
From my experience, if you want to learn the handstand quicker, do back to wall handstands, then try to slowly lift one leg from the wall and slowly change them. Also don't forget to keep your back in check for as little arching as possible
I'm 24 and I've never had abs or been physically aesthetic in my life. I was what you could call a "bi***" for most of my life, 2 months ago I decided to commit to doing calisthenics and eating more meat so I could stop feeling like a "bi***". I've never felt so good in my life but now i'm addicted to it, so stumbling across this super chill guy talking about exercizes i've never used, working to failure when building muscle, and safety when lifting is 🥵🥵🥵
When I fall, it's not really like falling. Its like I'm elegantly dismounting from my handstand. I prefer to go into a pike position when I'm dismounting, its basically the same as a leg up, but in reverse. I do it like this, because I hate being loud, and so even though I just started practicing, I've never actually completely fell before. 🤷♂️
Many of these are ancient yogic postures from Hinduism, from Patanjali Yoga Sutras (scriptures). Headstands and reverse postures are good for hairline and hair (due to increased blood and prana circulation).

Very good. Handstands are fun
nice vid man keep going
Brilliant video thanks
Thanks this helped alot
When I fall, it's not really like falling. Its like I'm elegantly dismounting from my handstand. I prefer to go into a pike position when I'm dismounting, its basically the same as a leg up, but in reverse. I do it like this, because I hate being loud, and so even though I just started practicing, I've never actually completely fell before. 🤷♂️
Can you do a vid on how to grow your forearms? Would be great
Many of these are ancient yogic postures from Hinduism, from Patanjali Yoga Sutras (scriptures). Headstands and reverse postures are good for hairline and hair (due to increased blood and prana circulation).
Damn that's why I've it good 😁
