  • This is a Funk 10 Pin String Pinsetter in action. It is not homeade and is a full size machine with a full size lane. It was made in Germany by a company called Funk. You can view their site at funk-bowling.de... , however, this string pinsetter is not currently listed on the site.
    The machines were located at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the student union on East Campus.

    To be fair, this video is showing a bad tangle being sorted. Full-on tangles like this (usually caused by extreme bowling force) are generally rare on the string machines and can usually be sorted by the machines themselves.

  • @duckylick
    @duckylick 13 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    That's AWESOME! Yeah, giving the pins those multiple reset pulls works well - see, you need the long strings to get real pin action, but it also makes them tangled - this mechanism clearly solves that problem - bravo. I want one now.

  • @Accumulator1
    @Accumulator1 11 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Those strings must restrict full pin action by the way they tangle up with each other.
    I would really hate to be on a lane approach trying to concentrate with that up and down string shit going on the next lane over. I would be wondering if that was all automatic or is somebody back there trying to piss me off.

    In arcades, particularly in Europe, you will find a half-scale version of this type of pin-setting operation. Many places call this machine "Bowlingo". The tethers used in those pins however I think are like very flexible and possibly teflon coated, to they very rarely tangle.
    The version shown in the above video looks like it may have been homemade. Cool nonetheless.

    • @chanady55
      @chanady55  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since a computer controls the pins I'm guessing that when switched to 5-pin, then the computer would just put the 5 pins down instead of 10 for each frame since each pin can be controlled separately.

    • @Reginahomeboy
      @Reginahomeboy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mestair Meu we would untie all the 10 pins and tie the 5 pins on to the strings where they are set to be and the computer just takes care of the rest, the whole system is just a pain in the butt cause the strings do get tangled a lot and you need to run back there turn the machine off, untangle the pins and then turn the machine back on. the biggest issue i have with this system compared to the other system is you don't get messenger pins that fly right across the deck after hitting the side walls they just kinda lay there dead and then get pulled back up and reset.

    • @GraingerElectrical
      @GraingerElectrical 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works by having a pulley up inside the pinsetter that detects when ever the string moves. If it moves more than a pre-programmed amount, then it triggers the pinsetter to activate and keep the pin held up on the second throw of the frame. To stop knocked down pins from been re spotted, it turns on something called a pin brake which locks the string and thus stops the skittle from going down. It also uses the string sensor to detect a tangle.
