Cooper Manning is the eldest brother and father of Arch, played WR until he got injured in college. Arch is named after his grandfather Archie Manning who played QB for the Nnew Orleans Saints in the 70s
Cooper had to quit football because he also had spinal stenosis. One more hit could have left him paralyzed. His brothers have said he was better then them.
Quinn Ewers will start as QB for Texas this year. Arch and Maalik Murphy will vie for backup. Arch will probably get a few reps this year; which will help him develop for D1 level play. What this video did not properly convey during the recruiting weekend was the fact the $288k spent was for several players being recruited that weekend; not necessarily for Arch himself.
6:13 "Accidentally left his notes behind". Gotta love the circus that is the recruiting process. Anyways it's not uncommon for a highly recruited Freshman to start at QB their Freshman year, but the QB he has to beat out Quinn Ewers isn't a joke being the #1 recruit, and the #1 QB of the last graduating class, so Manning is in kind of a unique situation. I don't think we'll see much of Manning short of blow out games (Whether Texas is blowing the other team out, or Texas is getting blown out) or if god forbid Quinn Ewers got hurt.
Arch Manning's grandfather was a productive NFL quarterback who had the unfortunate circumstance of always playing for a marginal team. Archie Manning....look him up. Arch chose Texas in part when they showed him the guys that would be his offensive line if he came, and showed him the receivers he would be throwing to. Then they showed him the school and town.
Arch played in a very weak district and did most of his damage in the regular season against mostly bad competition. Every time he made it to the Division III playoffs, Newman got bounced and Arch usually played poorly. At Texas, he will easily be the least accomplished guy in the QB room. Chances of him hitting the transfer portal after this season are very high.
Family is pretty gifted. Love the vid of Eli going "undercover" back to college lol. Him going into a pro offense will only make him better IMO. I don't think his scramble type play will continue though.
Hey Daz, theres gotta be some compilations of Peyton Manning's funniest moments and/or funniest commercials. Those would be some great freaking vids haha. He's just the best
It's nice to see you react to prospects .... but there is a guy right now who's doing something spectacular in sports !! Shohei Ohtani .....Can you please do a reaction about his historic month of june in the MLB
@@officeblokedaz okay ... but what he's doing right now is on a whole different level ... he's leading the League in home runs , most hits , most rbi's as a hitter and most strike outs and lowest batting score against him as a pitcher 😅
Very interesting. My brother would probably know a lot about this guy. He is good friend's with Peyton and grew up with him in New Orleans. Went to the same High School. Never knew at the time he would end up being a big star.
The high school he went to is called Southlake carol dragons and people from all around the country try to get their kids accepted. The fact he was a starter, with that context in mind, is incredibly impressive.
He started as QB as a freshman which means he had recently turned 15 and was playing against 18 year-olds. Has a nice throwing motion--technically very good at an early age.
He reminds me of his uncle, Peyton, in his dedication to studying the game and watching film of games. They aren’t just good athletes, they’re true scholars of football.
Ok. There are a couple of things that need to get sorted out here. Arch’s name is Archibald. That was his grandfather’s middle name. Archie’s first name is Elisha. Arch’s father, Cooper, was a wide receiver but had to retire from football due to spinal stenosis; a narrowing of the spinal column. Arch will probably redshirt this coming season and Maalik Murphy will serve as QB2. If Ewers declares this upcoming draft (which means Texas will have had a very good season) Manning will be hard pressed to overtake Murphy. Murphy has a cannon and an excellent touch on deep balls. This was evident on the 76-yard dime to Johntay Cook in the spring game. That ball was effortlessly thrown outside the numbers from the far hash 45 yards in the air. Remember, Murphy is only a RS Freshman. During that same spring game where Maalik Murphy looked excellent (9-13 with 4 drops, 1 TD), Arch looked every bit the part of a kid just out of HS, which is exactly what he is. I’m not saying Arch can’t overtake Maalik, but Maalik showed his is more capable than Arch at this point, and Maalik is the one more likely to get reps this season.
HIs grandfather, Archie Manning was a legendary player, who was more talented than either of his sons (Peyton, Eli) who unfortunately had to play for the worst team in the history of the league--the New Orlean Saints of the early to mid 70s. he could run/scramble, pass, very smart. You might want to take a look at his highlights.
I'm not sure if either of you are aware of what red-shirting means. It is when a player on a college team sits out during his first year at school. The player can still practice. He just can't participate in games. Since he does not play any games he still has 4 years of eligibility left. It is possible that Manning could be red-shirted his first year if he is unable to win the starting job. That way he potentially has four more years to be the starting QB.
As a Texas fan and alum, it has been a long time since we have had a really good quarterback. Colt McCoy was our last good QB. He played his last game in the 2009 National Championship game vs Alabama. Since then Texas has been no better than average but has basically been a train wreck. Since players have been allowed to make money with NIL, it puts Texas in a better position because of the money that recruits can make.
If y’all don’t win the Big 12 this year, it’s sad. Can’t wait for y’all to join the SEC though, I plan on going to Austin whenever Auburn goes to play there
He's most likely going to red shirt this year. That's when a player participates in 4 or fewer games during the season they can retain that year of eligibility. So 2024 he'll be a red-shirt freshman with 4 years of eligibility remaining. .
They were talking about how many more passing yards and touchdowns in highschool he had compared to the other mannings but today it's more of a passing league then when they were in highschool. They ran the ball more than they do today. I think kind of unfair comparison.
College football has a system of "redshirting". A player gets to practice on the team for 5 years but is only able to play for 4 seasons/years. When a talented player isn't big enough, they get to train, learn the school's system, gain weight and skill. Or if there is a talented older player ahead of you at your position, you can take a redshirt non-playing year so you will end up with more playing time, developing your skill. With the quarterback situation at Texas, a extremely talented older player will benefit the team more. Arch might benefit by taking a redshirt year to create a separation year between himself and the existing starting quarterback. Maybe. Time will tell.
As a UT fan, it’s quite insane how much talent we have at QB. Quinn Ewers, our starter, was the #1 QB of his class I believe, and behind him we have 2 other 5-start recruits, including Manning. Whether or not that will transfer into on-field success is another matter, but the star power is undeniable.
Ewers was not only the #1 QB but the #1 overall prospect and I believe only like the 5th or 6th perfectly rated prospect in modern recruiting history. Ewers won’t be losing that job.
@@cjboyer4355 I’m still not completely sold on him, even as a UT fan. He has been very inconsistent for us and the deep ball was basically nonexistent for us last year. He has the talent, he just needs to put it together for an entire season.
Arch takes after Archie and Eli, that spiral that hums when it passes by. He has the brain of Peyton, able to decipher information quickly. All these sports reporters never ever lace up ball cleats or put on pads, the only thing Arch has to do is telling to sit on it and rotate!
I wonder what age the family sitdown was to boost this kid. Everything about him sounds like he's been through a QB factory meant for success. Like he's a clone of Peyton the way he studies the game. I hope he goes yard and wins chips, would be dope watching it all unfold.
Cooper manning was actually the most athletic out of all the brothers and played receiver not really like Eli and Payton are really athletic but still, cooper was destined for a good career as well but unfortunately an injury held him from doing so
