For sure one of the players for sure who DEFINITELY changed his game was Brook Lopez , a post up player throughout his career and then he transformed his game to being a spaced 3 point shooter
He talked about him in a previous video.
And his defense really really improved too

Brook Lopez is probably one of the best players who completely changed their game. He was a strictly post player in Brooklyn who didn’t rebound that well or play any defense. Over the years, he’s become one of the best big man shooters in the league and has exceptional post defense while still being effective in the paint.
He talked about him in a previous video.
Bruh I still remember when he was a laker in 2017 and we played Orlando and he didn’t have a single rebound in that game I was baffled😭

As an okc fan, Adams was always a great passer. Defo great to see him get to showcase his playmaking more on the Grizzlies though

I think he was under-utilized by Billy Donovan by giving KD and Russ and PG the ball too much with their isolation, but his playmaking started to flourish when Cp came to OKC.
I wish he comes back again somewhere in his career to OKC
@@gabrielsalarda2865 Yea that's true, he made a lot of outlet passes in okc but didn't have that much freedom when KD was still on the roster. I never thought Billy Donovan was a good offensive coach though since he always just had Russ and KD or Russ and PG take turns controlling the offence so I guess Adams was kind of limited by that but his defensive schemes were always good.

Playing with two of the greatest point guards ever really helps with your basketball iq. Stevn Adams has always been a favorite player of mine and he's one of the toughest guys in the league and one of the strongest ever. Hopefully he wins a chip with the Grizzlies.
Boris could literally do everything in San Antonio. He could score from inside and from midrange, could pass with the best of them, rebound and play defense.
Whole team was working like a clockwork. It was just perfect basketball...
There was no such thing as starters or bench players on the 2014 team, they were all on fire
He was the ultimate role player. Kyle Anderson kind of had that sort of skillset he just wasn't quite as smooth as Bobo

Once Murray was all defense I could see the triple doubles coming because of how many rebounds he would get. He’s scoring more than I thought tho and can still improve his 3’s.
His growth as a passer surprised me the most, he was forced into the position with Derozan leaving but has thrived as the main facilitator

I love Steven Adams. Classic guy that does all the little things but has a huge impact on his teams.
Good to see some Steven Adams love. Crazy how he was traded to the Pelicans, was a terrible fit but got an extension. Then, traded to Memphis where he has been a perfect fit

As a Spurs fan I think we knew Dejounte was going to be this good, his injuries just slowed his development down a few years

Ben Simmons tops this list. His usual playstyle of zero jumpshot and zero 3 point ability did not suit his team so he had to transform into a diva. He stopped playing and started whinging instead.
Barnes is a great player, i dont understand how PO teams dont make a trade for him. I would love to see him in Boston as a 6th man or even a starter if they go with only 1 big inside
Before the deadline I hoped that Jazz would trade for him. He's a big wing that can defend and would let Donovan be their full time PG. Conley served as a training wheels for Donovan plus having 2 small guards really never worked
Boris was my pick for 2014 FMVP. Finals God Mode Boris Diaw is one of my favorite players ever.
Have you seen Adams in his OKC days after Durant left? He's always been a pretty good passer for his size that also utilized screening actions
Granted it was never used to this degree today but it's always been there, just never fully seen because of Westbrook's usage
Adams would be a menace on GSW
It was usually glimpses of that for him. They could never fully allow Adams to playmake with Russ in. With Ja being a predominant driver less than a passer, Adams can work his potential.

Pachulia, David West and Bogut all had that role of being passing bigs that utilizes screening and hand-outs, while also being a defensive anchor who isn't much of a scoring threat
Steven Adams at his current stage is probably better than all three of those in that role
Steven Adams is surprisingly playing really good for the grizzlies guess that Jonas trade was a win win

i admit i thought jonas was the better of the 2 ( still do ) but adams fits better , & he’s always been a solid playmaker westbrook’s ball dominance hid that from the world . love how they’re utilizing him !

Dejounte Murray is only 25 , if the Spurs draft right this year , we can be back in contention 2 years tops, because keldon Johnson is consistently scoring 25+ a game and he’s only 22 , we just need to fill that PF hole

they need to stop drafting guards unless they can trade them to a experienced frontcourts. their young guards with dj, keldon(he's more of a forward but whatever lol), vassell, lonnie and i can see some flashes with primo and he's still really young imo has a bright future

Great video. I feel like Bosh is truly underrated as a center in Miami. One of the first stretch five who succeeded on his role.
KD scoring ability to me is rivaled by no one. The dude being that tall can shoot from anywhere on the court. Can take one dribble or wear you out and still score. The man is unstoppable.

You should make a video on players who refused to change, whether not adapting to a changing game style or just not admitting they’re getting old. That’d be interesting. I’m thinking Hibbert, Iverson, Westbrook, etc.
Jahlil okafor and Mountain Dew are doing well and are still very interested in the future of our family but they aren’t necessarily going through this weekend lol but it’s definitely a good idea

Al horford brook Lopez and players of those sort have made the biggest Jumps for me they came into an era where their roles was just grab rebounds and dominate the paint nowadays they spend more time away from the basket shooting as well as guards

While that's true, a lot of dudes go to being straight up 3 pt specialists once their legs get some miles on them. I don't think you could fit them all in a video, though certainly he had some of the most success at it as far as amazing playoff / finals moments.

I have to disagree with Murray, this basically what we expected before he tore his ACL, he was always a good rebounding guard. His playmaking and mid range shooting has really improved though but the playmaking part was before his ACL.
I'd disagree there. Pre ACL he used to make poor playmaking decisions, such as rushing into opposing defenders crowding the paint, and was at best an average passer. There was a huge contrast as a playmaker between Murray and White during their time together, with White never getting flustered when defenses put pressure on him and having good court vision, unlike Murray who often looked to have tunnel vision on his offensive game and would get flustered and either lose the ball to a turnover or looking to get rid of it quickly to get the pressure off him, which typically would be before a set play or teammates were in a good position to score.
So yes, he has improved tremendously as a playmaker. He had the physical attributes to be a playmaker before the injury but clearly he didn't have the maturity or mental aptitude to be one just yet.
@@patfer1189 Yeah, your absolutely right, his playmaking and mid range game improved alot, but I thought he was a good playmaker prior to the ACL tear, he just improved tremendously on that front after the ACL tear.
@@patfer1189 Yes, he makes a lot less mistakes, and finishes soooo much better. He used to drive into traffic so much, and jump without really having a plan whether he was going try to finish or pass.

@@augustilagan8496 and right now. Russ is only attempting like fewer shots like 13-15 while having the ball less in hsi hands more. Its the reason why he is struggling that much (played well the last 3 games tho) while lbj is having one of his best seasons too. He allows his teammates to be the best while he adjusts. 🥱🥱

I feel like all the players on this list always had the abilities to do what they did later in their careers, they just couldn’t display it because of a lack of opportunities.

The late kobe. Watch highlights of him from 2000-2003 and compare that to highlights of 2007-2011. He drove to the basket and caught a lot of alley-oops in his earlier years, while later in his career, he polished his midrange shot. Lebron also has shown a lot of change in his game. He played with a lot of flash in Cleveland, then was more of a post-up player in Miami. Then in his second stint in Cleveland and with the Lakers, he relied on his basketball IQ
Harrison Barnes is low-key a championship level player. I'd love to have him on my team.
I think the Sixers should make a push for him. He’d fit better than Tobias and can play a similar role to what he was in Golden State while also being able to create shots while Harden or Embiid are out.

I watched Barnes in college I picked him to be the next great one. He was amazing when he was young.
If I was a rookie coming into NBA, Spurs would probably be one of my top choices to go to. It just seems, like they're an organisation that let's players develop at their own pace and figure out who they are, while offering guidance and advice. Instead of demanding instant stardom, or trying to change your playstyle

Suddenly missed Chris Bosh. Arguably he is 2nd most important piece in Miami's title run. Never expected Djountey to flourish like this. I knew he was good but not this exceptional. Hoping they could sign another bigs to help him win in san antonio.

Lebron developed a post game later on his career and the 3PT shot. when he was younger he relied more on his athleticism and explosiveness to get buckets but now since it has declined he has changed his game

Aaron Gordon could be on here too. Went from a perimeter oriented player in Orlando who jacked up too many off the dribble midrange and three point jumpers to becoming way more of a slasher in Denver

Crazy how innovative Mike D'Antoni is, dude has taken so many underperforming hybrid players and turned them into great niche role players. Definitely a major contributing factor to the way rosters are put together in the new "positionless" era

Marcus Smart, used to be great defensively and would often flop. Still great defensively now but doesnt flop anymore. Also, after playing as backup for IT, Kyrie, and Kemba, he is now the floor general for the Celtics. Drastically improved his shot selection too. This is very noticeable as a Cs fan.
James Harden 3-4 years ago would Iso and take stepback threes all the time, or drive and feast on the FT line. He used to do this for a living. When he got to Nets, he became more of a facilitator all-around PG. This is too early to say but we have the best of Rockets and Nets version of Harden right now in Philly.

Steven adams is one of my favorite players right now ( okc fan ) he was always a okay passer; he just never got a chance to display it because of Russ and kd handling the ball the whole game. He’d be lucky to get a putback or desperation pass with -10 seconds left on shot clock
Steven Adams on the Pelicans was so frustrating. Not because he wasn’t good but because we were losing and people were blaming him. And they had no idea what he was trying to do out there. He paired with Zion great and helped him get that 27 ppg. Now he’s on the Grizzlies playing a similar role and they’re winning so people get it
I think Robert Horry deserves a mention here. He came into the league as a 6'10 small forward. He was quick despite his height. But as he got older, he bulked up and his play style become what we know of in his Lakers and Spurs days

With love I would imagine it’s hard to adjust his post game bc he isn’t as wide. Players can probably reach by him and poke the ball out on plays that would previously be fouls.

Pat Beverly should be on this list. He was a bucket in hs and college but specialized in a defender in the nba
It may not be drastic but Draymond has changed his playstyle. Back in his first 2 seasons, he was essentially a Small Forward doing Small Forward things. It took a Steve Kerr offense, a starting opportunity due to David Lee's injury, and the confidence to be the team's main playmaker despite being a Power Forward (and sometimes a Center) on top of his already elite defense for him to fully flourish
