Man, the sweet sound of that Lambo! Unmistakeable! 30 years after watching this movie, I got to drive a bright red Countach! It was all I dreamed it be lol
I first saw this movie with my dad in, of all places, the theater in Mammoth Lakes while on vacation. I have it on DVD.....just plain good, low-brow fun!
The Lambo really was a good looking car and way ahead of it's time. Back in the day, I thought they looked ridiculous, but they look just right 30 years later.
All I know is that Burt Reynolds was the hippest actor/ producer of his time and to see what the government, his ex wife and former associates did to tear him down shouldn't happen to a dog. He should be right up there with Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood and other big names who are now approaching the 8th decade of life.
Approaching their 8th decade? Clint just turned 88, Burt is 82 and in two months Robert will be 82. These men have BEEN in their 80's for some time now!
I moved to Wyoming NY just because Brock Yates lived there went up to cannonball run pub.Checked all the cool cars that used to show up there even seen burt you know who around a few times.Very very cool. Those were the days.RiP Brock.
A little trivia: the Lamborghini in thise scene was supposed to be used in the real cannonball race. After the last cannonball race in 1979, the owner and driver of the car showed it to Brock Yates, founder and creator of the illegal cannonball race. He said to Brock that was the car he intended to race with in the next cannonball. Brock realized how dangerous these races were getting and it would be murder to allow someone, an amatuer driver at that, to race cross country in that kind of car. So he thought to himself, "No you're not. Because I just ran my last cannonball." So while the car wasnt used in the race, it got to be in this movie.
Daveyboy _ all of the movies/shows/programs they each have been on???, you can't do that kinda things unless you were skilled and top rated🤔🤔🤔😁😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
James Yearty not really a challenge but more of an....agreement amongst fans of the original movie. Just look how badly they fucked up other remakes of other movies. Like the hitcher, Friday the 13th. If they remade this one, bet dollars to donuts they'd fuck it up some how
Thank the makers, this is a movie like Blazing Saddles, that can NEVER be remade! If they ever tried, Hollyweird would really know "The Sound of Silence"!
pat paulson they'd also know how Frankensteins monster felt, when the fans of the original come chasing after them with torches and pitchforks for creating such an abomination🤔🤔🤔😁😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Walter; and just who do you think would be good for this remake, 'reminding you,' The remake would have almost an all woman cast, and any guy in it would be the butt of all the jokes, (so, of course, make sure he's a white guy) and there would be no common love of the race! It would revolve around black guys and girls getting over on white racist cops, and any other white guy! So, go pitch this idea with my blessing to your nearest producer and you can fight with him for any royalties you can get, you go girl! isn't being an American and having an opinion GREAT!
Ahhh the 2 Lamborghini chicks!!!! Love in the second one when they actually get caught......by a woman. Hey their hotpants you got a driver's license tucked in there?? Lol
The Lambo has been my dream car ever since I saw this movie when I was about 10 or 11 yrs of age. (Was disappointed recently though when I saw a video on how impractical it actually is to drive that awesome automobile.) :-(
Gunnar Krug -- How long have you owned and driven one? My concerns: (from what I saw in that video...) Is it really impossible to see out of that rear window? Any good use of those side-view mirrors? How do you manage to hang out of the car to back it up? --Do you really have to do that all the time!? Finally... Is your windshield wiper effective at all? --In the vid. I saw, it appeared to be completely useless! Any thoughts or answers to these curiosities of mine would truly be appreciated, my friend. Have a good day! :-)
Was that nose wing a one off just for this movie? Never seen another Lambo sport anything similar. A white LP5000QV Countach still has to be my quintessential dream car as a kid growing up... would still love one today!
@@tommyt1971 Sorry. You just said "it". So I had to guess whether you were talking about the front wing or the U.S. spec bumper. They are two different things.
The cops trying to pull over the counter. Lol to me that kind of reminds me of guys finding a girl beautiful and trying to talk to her or pressuring her to date that guy. And she runs away from him LMFAO
Watching this reminds me of Need For Speed, Hot Pursuit 1 and 2. All stock, no NOS, no upgrades. Drive it like you stole it. Any new version of this movie would be a kiss ass failure if there's no big pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for the competition. A proper mix of high end cars and powerful sleepers. Last bit is the cast and the story. I won't say that I know how people think, but I would be disappointed if it ended up like the Fast and Furious movies. So nobody better rant at this if they can't voice some constructive criticism.
I think the most potent Trans Am's had around 350bhp in the 70's? I used to own a '67 Coronet 440ci with headers, cam and all the bits, that thing was not slow! But no trans am can touch a Lambo. Apparently the Burt Reynolds ambulance in this movie actually had a more powerful engine in it for real - maybe a 440? (375hp stock IIRC) wonder where that is now lol.
My cousin had an old newspaper article about the Columbus Ohio police having a countach high pursuit vehicle...can't remember if it was just for show or if they really used it. Anyways now I gotta find this on DVD!
Kristopher mathis. Heard tell back in the mid 70's Alabama State Patrol had 3 1968 AMX's as hi pursuit interceptors. Don't know if it's true just heard tell
My hometown had a viper police car (drug seizure) they used for highway pursuits. In the late 70-early 80s Pottstown had a 32 ford coupe hot rod to catch street racers.
Here's a funny story, as a kid my best friend's dad had a red lambo like this one. You couldn't see when you backed it up so he flipped the door up to back it in the garage and the car door hit the garage door and bent up his lambo and his house. Ouch! I felt bad for the guy but it's kind of funny now.
If everyone stamped their time card at the beginning, then why did the ending turn out as a "First one to the time clock...wins!" scenario? Cute ending though, but made no sense!!!!!
The one with David Carradine is good. When he jumps the unfinished overpass with that Mustang. Did they ever use Firebirds, or Trans Ams for highway patrol?
Most Highway Patrol/State Police agencies have used the Trans Am, Mustang (in various forms), Camaro and Corvette in the past. In my State (Florida) FHP used to use Mustangs and Camaros, and even had a Corvette back in the 1980's as an interceptor on the Florida turnpike and I-95.
Why can’t I find this movie on iTunes or any digital download?? Nobody has Cannonball Run one. “We’re just out out out looking for a pack a cigarettes”...
The part i loved in this was when they are side by side doing 90-100mph + and the Lambo just floors it, leaving the cop car in its wake that was speed by then, of course the sad part was the wrecked the car in the film other wise it would have won hands down,
makes me chuckle to imagine a police department using a two-door Firebird for a spv . Over in Russia as I understand it on the autobahn they use special motorcycles and Lamborghinis as high pursuit vehicles. Most American police departments had specialized interceptors they were usually border war vehicles with some nasty horse power under the hood Firebirds were a nice car but I don't think any of them had nearly the horsepower that American police departments were using for special pursuit vehicles. Some of them were using roadrunners from what I understand or Dodge Chargers. Depending what kind of highway there using there would be too many vehicles of that time. That would stand a chance against that model Lamborghini.
Peter Parker Well, circa 1980 the car choices were limited and so was the horsepower. The cop car of choice was a Plymouth Grand Fury or Chevy Impala. Later, the Ford LTD became the ride of choice and renamed the Crown Victoria. As for 2 door interceptors??? The California Highway Patrol & SC state Police were big Mustang 5.0 fans after 1983.
This was the "fast and furious" movie of my time...when I was a kid☺
Burt Reynold's laugh makes it priceless....
One of The Best Motion Picture s I've Ever Seen...📡💻🌚🦄🌎👽👁️🦅...
This movies gets five bags of popcorn 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Man, the sweet sound of that Lambo! Unmistakeable! 30 years after watching this movie, I got to drive a bright red Countach! It was all I dreamed it be lol
The Countach is still my ultimate Dream Car.
The sound is fake and added in post-production.
So jealous. I got to ride in one.
I highly doubt it is from a real one. And it does not sound real. A real one would be way more throaty and deep.
Wow! All I can say about that is simply... WOW! :-O
I first saw this movie with my dad in, of all places, the theater in Mammoth Lakes while on vacation.
I have it on DVD.....just plain good, low-brow fun!
The road still looks the same 30 years later heading to searchlight nv. And the nhp is always waiting for you lol.
Thanks! Now I'm going to have to watch the movie.
A shame they don't make movies like this anymore with "everyone" in it. The Expendables is the only thing I can think of of late that comes close.
Mars Attacks and the Oceans movies
Yeah didn't think of those. Oceans 11 is best in my opinion. Andy Garcia played an evil @#$er!
It's called Avengers Infinity War
All the good ones are dead.
Rodshark75 You mean CGI Infinity War
Wassup Jim? Great Clip!! They are forever in pursuit of the Black Lamborghini...
Ha, The little car at the end of the video. Funny 😄
That's a 1970's Honda CVCC with 3 cylinder engine! It would later become the Civic.
The Lambo really was a good looking car and way ahead of it's time. Back in the day, I thought they looked ridiculous, but they look just right 30 years later.
busslayer especially with most cars looking alike instead of having unique designs which was the calling signature of the 80s🤔🤔😧😧😧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Everything except that front spoiler -- ruins the front end lines.
That laugh from Burt Reynolds! Ah takes me back to greatest period in movie history!
Yes that is his classic Bandit laugh. Great memories.
You got that right!!! Great guy, got to hang out with him for a little while back in the 90s!!
Approaching their 8th decade? Clint just turned 88, Burt is 82 and in two months Robert will be 82. These men have BEEN in their 80's for some time now!
Omg, the introduction of the lambo to so many kids.

Fav intro of all time
That lambo would run outta gas before they could get too far lol
Carburetor-Turbo 301 Trans-Am cop car. That's a gem. :)
Best film intro ever
Countach baby! First supercar love!
Yeah I would have sold my soul for that car when I was 16

I loved this movie when it came out !!!
Sammy Davis Jr, Lamborghini's,Disco Rockabilly theme song..I love the 80's

Cannonball Run, the "Love Boat" of car movies.
Bodhissatva Texas VF
Cannonbal run film en VF
grew up with this..... legendary😆😆 👍👍
2:27 i love this acceleration when the lambo pulls away.
Aww handsome countach ❤️
375 hp for a 1980 Lambo. A very respectable 210 for a 1980 Firebird IF it was turbo model. Still no contest.
Never realized how many great actors were in this.
22KPAR1X Cyberdyne uhh no. They were the flavour of the month !
I just realized that too.
Alot of stars yes. But great actors ?
22KPAR1X Cyberdyne those were the days🤔🤔🤔😧😧😧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Daveyboy _ all of the movies/shows/programs they each have been on???, you can't do that kinda things unless you were skilled and top rated🤔🤔🤔😁😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sadly, this will never happen in film today. And even if they did, it would suck compared to the original
Una's Gaming Channel nice challenge?????
James Yearty not really a challenge but more of an....agreement amongst fans of the original movie. Just look how badly they fucked up other remakes of other movies. Like the hitcher, Friday the 13th. If they remade this one, bet dollars to donuts they'd fuck it up some how
Really I think I deserve an Oscar for best actor from the very beginning ms. Beaufort My Darling,,, because nobody else would go so far
Sad all those greats during the intro credits gone. That was a great movie.
lost one yup, one by one all the old greats are going to their final movie set in the sky🤔🤔😢😢😢😢🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
So is Jackie Chan...
Thank you, Snuff Garrett.
Everytime I see the Lamborghini pass the cop car at the end, I start laughing!!!
Uncle CJ
The cop car had a similar top speed, it's a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am! I'll take the Firebird over the Countach any day
PeterSellers22, I agree with you on that one!!
Uncle CJ yea because the cops can't see them from behind.
79masshole how do you feel about the Feds??
Pontiac = 30000€
Lambo = 500000€
Any questions?
Lambo looked so futuristic back then and the design would work today smooth out some lines maybe make the side mirrors sleeker
AMEN TO THAT
There are no superstars left in Hollywood
No one with charisma of the original cast
pat paulson Hmmmmmm.......... Actually, this would make a good choice for a remake.
Walter; and just who do you think would be good for this remake, 'reminding you,' The remake would have almost an all woman cast, and any guy in it would be the butt of all the jokes, (so, of course, make sure he's a white guy) and there would be no common love of the race! I just recorded this too for my facebook n twitter, I turn up my Jensen floor speakers loud as I can so SICK!

It was a bumper as well to meet the U.S. regulations.... It went right through to the frame of the car.
@@my1vice And a shame, it really interfered with the front end lines.
@@tommyt1971
You prefer the U.S. spec bumper?
Wow.
@@my1vice Read my comment again, I call it a "shame" that it was ever added.
@@tommyt1971
Sorry. You just said "it".
So I had to guess whether you were talking about the front wing or the U.S. spec bumper. They are two different things.
When movies were good.
People forget that this was a real race. Brock Yates lived in NY
Was it really!? :-O
Best movie intro ever
That Lambo @3:38 though! The world really needs a new Hal Needham movie! Sucks that ain't gonna happen.
The cops trying to pull over the counter. Lol to me that kind of reminds me of guys finding a girl beautiful and trying to talk to her or pressuring her to date that guy. And she runs away from him LMFAO

Adrienne and Tara were so beautiful -- my favorite ladies of all time. I'm actually building the LP500 S Lambo in 1:16 scale.
Can you feel the shift change!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! You are going to take the shortcut, right?
There still is a actual Cannonball race every year. Just not this crazy.
Dillinger wasn't caught. He was gunned down outside of a movie theater.
two the hot chicks outrunning the law in a lambo yeah that is coolest great car movie
I'm really sad I can't find this song on Pandora, this is definitely the Number one song I'd be playing.
Legna K , look up Ray Stevens, he is the one who performed it .
Henry Wolert I have, it doesn't appear :/
Intro filmed just south of Las Vegas at railroad pass.
Super
..part 2 is my favorite but part 3 aka speed zone was ok too!
Lambo vs Trans-am.... my money's on the Lambo...
Brian Ferencin you got no money! So the point is mute.
Can't outrun MOTOROLA.
so there's still talk of the remake
It wasn't till decades later that I realized that Jackie Chan was in this movie.
That black Lamborghini is precisely how I feel around my ex! Get me the hell away from him
Countach best car Lambo ever made. Styling disaster but damn damn damn...
love this scene
