listening to these girls you gotta love how they have encompassed Hole, Babes in toyland, The Breeders, Belly and Veruca Salt and still come out with something that I dont sit and pick apart but just love cause its so pure and real!
Their breakthrough is long overdue. The Big Fit is an absolute classic filled with nothing but radio hits. I'm gonna miss their original sound but everytime they release new material they prove they're only getting better.
2010’s was a lost decade for music. When I was living through it I thought there was literally nothing but crap for some reason I’m just now discovering all the good music from the decade and it’s all because it was never mainstream. It’s bumming me out because I could’ve liked so many bands and gone to shows but instead I spent the whole time bitter thinking there was nothing
Unnecessary. TH-cam is a better platform than radio now. I’ve discovered the last 5 bands I like this way. Radio is just too corporate now to p,ay anything truly different.
This is one of those ones that you play over and over again until the tape is worn out. Fortunately, technology has provided a solution to that problem.
I am really digging this, but I do hope you guys never lose your grit. Looking forward to a video for 'Camelot'. Much love from a couple of yoru Washingtonian fans. ♡♡♡♡♡♡
This video is really fun. Enjoy the live version also. Great that there is still good original music. A bit surprised the number of views is lower than earlier stuff
When I first saw Kelli’s glasses it made me think of Kurt Cobain and then the pool scene is identical to a Nirvana photo shoot right after Nevermind was released. I love Skating Polly!!

Another winner from this brilliant band. They are remarkably un-tattoo'd (at least visible ones), which is actually more shocking in 2018 than multiple tattoos. It shows that they are unwilling to follow the majority trend, and that is refreshing.
Never seen it but there seems to be a Pavement reference on the dry-erase board in this promo vid (lower your volume a bit or die) th-cam.com/video/d9qlFvDkbW0/w-d-xo.html
Pipi Pipi this is not much different than the pop songs from previous albums. They have some killer punk tunes on the new record too - a mixture of punk, pop, grunge, pretty piano songs...as usual. In fact, the new record probably has one of the most distorted, thrashing punk songs they’ve ever done.
Everything they've done since working with veruca salt has sounded over produced and nothing special. Type in new grunge on Google and it all sounds like their new shit. They've become the average indie three piece from the PNW. Two piece skating polly was original af, this is boring. And everything off of taking over the world and lost wonderfuls has way more emotion and raw feeling in it than new trick and everything they've done since
weirdplanet108 they’re cheap is the most bad ass song of Kelli’s new songs!! The recorded version is SOOO good!!! I also love This Vacation as far as her loud songs...but she has a couple that sound like nothing she’s done before. These couple of new/different gems are not as poppy as this song and not as grungy, loud and distorted as like Perfume for Now or Hey Sweet...I’d say they are more like Stevie Nicks-esque with more edge and, of course, distortion and screaming. Pey has one of the most beautiful piano songs on the new album...maybe akin to A Little Late but dark and, well, it’s Peyton singing instead of Kelli so of course it’s got that specific Peyton quality. I love the new album - my taste is pretty diverse, which is probably a big reason I love their music so much. I really don’t think I’m biased in my affinity for it...despite them being my fam! I really just like good tunes! :)
weirdplanet108 What’s funny about this is that this song was written after the girls were kind of surprised unexpectedly with a meeting with a Hollywood record exec-type who was in some way associated with Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus. This person basically attempted to impart “wisdom” about how they could get millions of fans if only they were ambitious enough...it was more or less an offer to help them sell themselves to the masses by any means necessary. And this song is a big “fuck you” to that whole idea that performers/musicians - especially female performers - have to sell their bodies and their beauty as their product/art. Their literal response to whether or not they were willing to be ambitious enough for so-called real success was hilarious...you can hear it in the song itself if you listen. You can be certain they are aware how lame it is to bow to the dictates of Hollywood Factory in its attempt to manufacture art and artists. That’s precisely the point of the song!! These girls are smart...and I am amazed at and inspired by them always.
I agree with Amber, the lines "We’ll work for any creep, We’re sucking in our tummies", is really taking the piss out the music industry and the way it treats young women. It has to be a poppy song to get the message across. An angry riot grrl type song would only stick its fingers up to the converted not the creeps who pray on the ambitions of young people.
Reminds me of 90s girl rock bands, especially the vocals - very Letters to Cleo or Veruca Salt
A Veruca Salt video is what lead me here. Glad I found this group, I've been loving it for the last month or so,
post and gordon worked with the girls on an ep. you can see LA band members in this video...from cosmic kitten and potty mouth. check them out too...

The voice of Kay Hanley and vibe of Veruca Salt. Great stuff!

I love this reinterpretation of the 90s, actually better than the 90s, I love the candy design gloss it adds a nice Talking Heads layer
