This band would have been a 90s standout. They have perfectly blended their own sound while also showing respect to bands that have inspired them. There are plenty of great bands still out there on the indie scene and some who are getting pushed by the mainstream, but Skating Polly is literally the first band in a long while to get me legit excited/amped up when they release new music and videos.
I can't even believe that there was a chance that i WOULDNT click on this video. This is probably the best decision I have made so far this year. Unbelievable perfect. SO many layers of clever and infectious hooks. I can't right now. Love affair with this record shall commence. THE SONG ISNT EVEN OVER YET
This is my confort band, the band who sings for the outcasts, the broken people, just like me. This song give me hope when I feel like I don't have any left. Thank you for everything you did for me. Keep rocking.
There's good music released every year. There always has been, there always will be. If you think that "music sucks today" or whatever you think, you're not looking hard enough.
This video was my introduction to a modern rock band called Skating Polly. It is proof that every generation will have artists, and musicians who will dare to not follow the "safe and easy" way of the current popular culture of their time. As a 49 year old hobbyist musician (bass & guitar), I have lived through they heydays of punk, grunge and garage rock, and many genres before and after. I've watched several other Skating Polly videos before coming back to this one, and to borrow a line from The Who..."the kids are alright!"
Drives me crazy that everybody tries to compare you guys to someone else. Why can't you just be you. I think you guys are driving in your own lane and we love it. Stay true
I agree, why do people compare bands that do original music with others. Sure some have similar styles but they are not tribute bands. Learn from others but do not copy them. Think for yourselves.
You have to have a point as to the origin of the music and the reference as to how it developed, I enjoy the music but based where they are from youbcanbsee the music that was around them as they developed there own style, they could be L7, Bikini Kill, some very cool band they they made the sound even better.

Yeah, but if you grew up listening to new indie music in the early 90s, it sounds like this band found a copy of Smashing Pumpkins "Gish" and played it incessantly until their own sound was developed...

The algorithm suggested this to me, almost didn't click it either but glad I did. Probably one of the best songs I've heard in years along with breeders walking with a killer.
Seeing them on stage last year was honestly one of the best things in my life, they were sooo sweet and chill. They gave me Kelli's pick and paid me and my group of friends a jar of whatever they were drinking... great memories

Great song! It's got a throwback feel reminiscent of tunes from the alternative rock golden era of the late 1980s-early 1990s. The fuzz pedal guitars, slow build-up to a raucous chorus, impassioned belting, irony-drenched lyrics, fishnet stockings and Doc Martens have much more in common with the sound and look of bands like The Pixies and even Veruca Salt than that of the average modern indie rock group. Very refreshing and unusual to witness this aesthetic in 2018!

"Everybody thinks they can see The best choice for me ", I still get that at aged 61, by both older and younger people. Then I realised that I too have "advised" people what would be better for them, both younger and older than me. We need to be careful in life how we help others make their own choices.
Typically when I advise I try to just highlight the possible different outcomes without making any kind of vibe about which outcome I'd want for me. (Am I advising your advising? It's endless...)

They're gonna make me faint
They're gonna paint me weak

@Pokémon collector SD SD can you explain why. you think you can explain age. that would men you are an ignorant person. lol that is way sadder. You not understanding the concept of time lapse as a tcg player means you are even crud at your main "talent". Now that is sucidal sad.
