    Thanks for this :) undersold is right - KP was low-key badass, to successfully navigate the minefield of marriage to Henry and have such influence on two future queens (albeit Jane Grey was not on the throne for long). .
    And she was regent while Hank.was in France. Funny the resonances between Henry's first and last wives - as you point out, Katherine of Aragon was KP'S godmother.

    It's sad that Catherine Parr wasn't able to live and thrive long after the death of Henry VIII. It sounds like she was a remarkable woman.

      @@eamonndeane587 definitely! I remember how Jane Seymour played favorites with Mary and here Catherine parr played favorites with Elizabeth to a certain degree. She loved the all. That much is known but I think she understood the need for Edward and Elizabeth to have a stable mother in their lives

      However, I am skeptical if she would have survived under Mary's rule since she despises Protestants greatly.

    Hi Alice, I just want to take this time to say I really enjoy your videos. I have been having a really rough week with work and having a small surgery on my back. My birthday is this Sunday but we are postponing the celebration because we are helping an army friend with moving and we are all expecting him to be deployed soon so it been hard for all of us. But I been watching the six wives playlist before this video and they never failed to make me smile and laugh and really enjoy history which I haven't been able to do in school. Keep up the great work you do and never forget how much you make us smile with your videos.

    Catherine Parr’s my favorite wife. Never since Catherine of Aragon did Henry VIII catch a real winner. Sophisticated, educated and stepmother of the year. We love you, Catherine P!

      I am not overly fond of her due to her negligence and participation in what we would now call the grooming and sexual assault of her step daughter Elizabeth by her last husband Thomas Seymour.

    • @michellecrocker2485
      @michellecrocker2485 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jawo8754 I have to wonder how aware she was of the full extent of what Thomas Seymour was pulling. I don’t think that for all her astuteness, she caught on for a while and you have to remember. Thomas Seymour was a sneaky SOB. He probably had ways of falling under Catherine’s radar behavior wise for as long as he was able. Which makes me think that when Catherine did become aware, she felt the need to take swift steps towards separating Elizabeth from him for her safety.

    • @jawo8754

      @@michellecrocker2485 really? In the reports it was said she actively participated in some of the “romps” between Thomas and Elizabeth. She only sent her away because she (Catherine) was pregnant and the scandal it had caused.

    I haven't read or watched much Tudor stuff since I was a teenager, so this series is such a great refresher! Your voice is lovely to have on in the background while I draw or game.

    Catherine Parr is such an underrated feminist icon, it truly sucks how the only real reason we know about her is because of her marriage to henry, same goes for all his other wives who deserved far better than being know as the six wives of henry the viii

    Alison Weir offers two possibilities for the the person who found and gave the Warrant to Catherine. In Innocent Traitor and The Lady Elizabeth it is Jane Grey. Whilst in ( spoilers ) Catherine’s installment of the Six Tudor Queens series it is Henry’s physician , Dr. Wendy who found the warrant

    Six The Musical made her sound so badass……annnnd then I found out the guy she was pining over in the song was Thomas Seymour.
    I’ll admit though, I admire the fact that she did quite a lot for women.

    An interesting and well researched confrontation of the reality of Parr's life vs it's representation in recent popular culture. Only one thing bugs me.The music. It has no ties with the video topic. Why not have 16th century music? Tunes from the period, or, alternatively, film music from shows featuring Parr? Is the copyright inquisition stopping you from featuring film music?
