Thx... Great video! I've had the Kay-noe for several years. I got it at Dicks and it is the same boat, a discovery 119 just rebadged Field & Stream, tan color, different sticker on the side. It's been a fantastic paddling and fishing machine! Nice size and weight to transport and paddles well on the water...I use it on rivers, lakes and ponds. It blows around a little in the wind, but it tracks quite well and I can keep it moving quickly. I tight areas, it is easy to turn as well! I added foot pegs and my milk crate with rod holders, my anchoring system and it was ready to roll! Enjoy the test drive and if anyone is considering this boat, I highly recommend it!
Have to remember it’s a canoe not a kayak so you will get canoe results. Broader sides and not as sleek as kayaks. But great single person canoe. Great video can’t wait to see how it does in the marsh. Thanks Mark!
An anchor or get you a good drift sock help slow your drift down for trying to jig over brush piles it works pretty good you may need to hook a small float to the end of the drift sock so it will stay at the surface and not interfere with the brush pile
Wow. I’m shocked at all the people afraid of and scoffing at fishing out of canoes. Canoe fishing is old school. I’ve been in all kinds of waters all across the US and up through Alaska. I love it. Sure, there are pros & cons nowadays with pedal kayaks, sit on tops, etc. but canoes are still tried and true boats.
No I want to thank you for all the great videos hard work and effort you put into everything and especially your services sir thank you very much from the Vega family San Benito Texas
Just saw this. Congrats- great boat as you found out! 12 years I've had my OT Pack... the lighter version of this boat. I've turned down $1000 for it quickly. These are the perfect boats to me. I've lowered my seat, use a kayak paddle, and have caught many hundreds of fish in mine. Not to mention camping, hunting, and all sorts of rivers, lakes, and streams in mine. I have sit in, sit on top, and other canoes...as well as a bass boat and a tritoon. No other boat is as fun for me as my OT Pack.
I love my little red Discovery 119. Easy to transport, maneuverable and solidly built. A straight blade paddle with a silent j-stroke technique is great for sneaking up on wildlife. It's just big enough for me to lie down in and take the best naps ever. Can't do that in a kayak!
I bought a 33lb Old Town Pack Angler in 2013 and I laughed at the kayak guys while they laughed at me. Looks like some of the kayak guys are beginning to open their eyes. To bad they missed the boat on Royalex. My Pack Angler came with a factory Scotty mount for my Yak Attack Visicarbon light/flag as well as a Scotty rod holder and Scotty anchor. I added a second Scotty rod holder.
@@ryanlillypad 2014 or 2015 was the last year of production for Old Town Pack canoes. It was first announced that Royalex was to be discontinued 1-2months after I bought my Pack Angler in 2013. There were guys at the local canoe shop selling personal Kevlar boats to fund purchases of Royalex boats as they knew their value was going to go up, and new Kevlar boats could be purchased in the future. I traded my 2013 Pack Angler for a larger 2012 Royalex Old Town Penobscot 16 and I am happy with that trade. I do miss my Pack Angler though.
Had a 15' Coleman RamX canoe back in the early '90's. A non-fishing rig just used for paddling around. Got tired of loading/unloading that thing on top of an Explorer and finally sold it. Enjoying kayaking a lot more than that tippy canoe. :)
That’s a neat lil canoe, looks very fishable. A few mods to make it your own .fish finder and such. Really like the boat launch too cool. Set the hook brother
Canoe fishing is ok. I used a Saranac 146 from Old Town all last year and getting it cleaned up for this spring. Anchors work but the winf just kind of catches it and spins you around. Similar issues with the drifting. Although its great for going to one place to another spending anytime in it is uncomfortable. I even had a pro outfitter shop near the Boundary Waters in MN remove the heavy seats and lighten it up some. Thinking possibly getting a pdl kayak once the lakes open up. Both the Topwater and Dorado are looking real nice to me.
i have an older model called the " Guide 119 " . nearly the same . the seat is different , and no gear track or pole holders . no footrests . and i think your seat is a little more forward than mine but it's hard to tell without measuring . i don't need a " gear track " and i can add rod holders easily . already added foot rests . it's in great condition and cost me $250/used . i like it better than my kayak .
Hey it was very nice to meet you today at the fishing show. I’m the one that showed you the pic of the big gar we caught in San Leon. Thanks for being so nice and down to earth and thanks so much for the stickers.I love that lake btw, I go there often. And much luck on that nice canoe you got there. Canoes scare me bc I’ve flipped over one too many times on em 🤣 Hope to see u on the water sometime man. Tight lines.
Hmm didn't know that Old Town made them, I'm impressed I have a canoe and fished with it in Florida but now I live in Texas and Im surly looking into fishing with my Bonified. If I would had seen this Old time automatic before hand things would have been different .
That's a cool little canoe I have a canoe that I even made a trailer for that you hook to a mountain bike just pedal it down a lake and go fishing it's great on gas horrible energy
I use a 240cm Kayak paddle with mine... Just test to get the right length for best results. I think it could work well for pretty long trips and can hold a ton of gear.
Overtime, how stable have you found it to be? My wife and i are looking at getting into the sport just to paddle around lakes and just want to have something stable and easy to use.
I have to ask. What is that kayak/canoe holder you have on your truck? I have never seen that before and it looks like something I would like. I just got me an Old Town 119 solo sportsman.
Does this canoe take on water or would you say it is safe to take into a calm Bay near South Padre island and be able to fly fish possibly standing up. I'm 5 foot 7 185 lb
@@MDLRFishing sure thing, l have a room reserved next to the Marina. If we definitely go you're welcome to crash with us or even borrow the shower if you want.
I was fishing in a canoe before anybody ever considered fishing in a kayak. Funny how what was old is new.

I believe the holes next to the seat are for oars, or the mount for oar holders. Excellent video!
I believe they are for fish pliers those holes to the left and right of the angler but for whatever use they are handy !!
That water is gorgeous

I'm liking that discovery a lot, i hit 5.5mph and i could maintain 4mph easy, i need to take it out fishing, been too busy lately .

Love it. I just started canoeing last year, but it's a 14' , 3 seater. Challenge for 1 person to handle. Fun though. Takes getting used to.
Sit in the middle facing backwards. Will make it so front doesnt sit higher. Cause then the wind will blow u in circles

That pond used to be awesome when it was privately owned. Before that whole neighborhood was there, we used to catch 5-10 lbers all the time.
Not bad for the first voyage... right on

Great video bud, what neighborhood is that pond in? Looks like a nice spot.
Cool thanks 🇨🇦👍
Funny to see you in that be careful with boat wakes think I would take less camera equipment
Surprisingly it's very stable.
Great video, thanks. You want airbags front and rear, though.
WOW !!!
Loved your truck bed.extender / kayak carrier !
Can you elaborate on it ??
Thanks for the video !
It’s the Boonedox Outfitter. I highly recommend you check them out online. It’s perfect for all paddle sports watercraft.
Hi. I osn a Next canoe and they look very similar. If U have the chance to try the Next. would you be able to make a video or something alike ?
Kool canyak / kaynoe. Can you stand up in it??
That canoe will out paddle any fishing kayak on the market.
awesome, thank you. I like canoes better than kayaks. all are fun though. I can take my wife and dog along in a canoe.
I have 17 foot Old Town Guide I bought in the late 90s. Still in great shape.
I fish for redfish in the marshes of setx in a canoe and love it. But, the wind in a canoe is a battle. Can't wait to see your video.

Yes
Incluye el remo o hay que comprar adicional

Too heavy and has a keel... don't ever want a keel:) Love the seat tho:)
Canoe is ok. The review from crybabies R us is way too whiny.
Time to join the dark side and get a trolling motor.
A trolling motor would be nice on them long pedal/paddle days.
I dont know about this one mark. In on the fence on this one.
