    I like to paddle and fish too. Got the 119 and LOVE this boat. Super stable, tracks great, turns on a dime. I have room for a fishing crate and gear. Its pretty much a perfect solo canoe.

      I know that's me as a first time canoe buyer I'm torn between buying one of these two boats !!! I love the longer Next more weight capacity and higher back seat over the Sportsman Solo but all the features on that solo and I wouldn't be hauling that much gear any way so I guess what will push me over the edge on my decision would be which of the two would be more stable in the water and I hear the Next model is somewhat faster of a canoe in the water !!! Damn !!! Decisions decisions !!!!

    I still think I'm gonna stay with the traditional 119 for my next boat. Mostly aesthetics for me. But I know...these new styles are catchy to most.

    So will the Next model handle not only flat water but will it handle class 1 and 2 water as well ?

    • @LancasterCountyMarine
      @LancasterCountyMarine  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Next can handle class 1 pretty well, class two is possible depending on the paddler.

    Seats seem to pop out of the NEXT where the plastic dips and the rails drop. Have you had any issue with this? If so, what did you do to fix?

    • @LancasterCountyMarine
      @LancasterCountyMarine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially when the next came out a few years back there was issues with the seat popping out of the tracks. Old town fixed that quickly with a running change that holds the tracks tightly to the seat

    • @micahspilker9322

      I contacted old town and they sent a second tether to strap the bars together. Before that I just used paracord to hold them together to keep the seat up.

    Discovery 119. Great litte solo... but too heavy, 50 lbs. The Esquif Adirondack is 38 lbs.

    • @projectknifehand
      @projectknifehand 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Esquif is 42 pounds. And they do not list a weight capacity. There are almost no boats in this realm that are lighter than 42 to 50 pounds. The only thing lighter than these are kayaks youd not trust in remotely the same environment and Kevlar boats. 50 pounds is not heavy for a boat.

      @@Pierre50mm It's not a big deal man. And honestly not a big difference in weight. Was only pointing it out because they are so close in weight. Both are cool little solo boats. I owned a 119 for a while and used it often on several trips. But it's weight capacity for its size and weight I felt was not all that great.

      I had another guy ask me that same question today. Unfortunately on solo Canoes you really cant add a center yoke. However, the boats are so slim it is easy to pick them up and carry them over your head.

      I have a Ford Ranger with a 5 ft bed. I open the tailgate, put the canoe in on an angle and tie it down on both ends, works fine. I also bought the Yakima HD Racks. I can put it on top or in the bed. After a long days trip, I throw it in the bed...lol Its easier.

    Seriously looking at purchasing one these 2 canoes. What's the best/most effective way to secure this size boat against theft while out traveling? Obviously I won't leave it for long. But if I'm traveling and need to stop in at a grocery store or something, is there a commonly recommended locking system for a lightweight canoe when it's strapped to a roof rack? Thankyou for any input on the matter

    • @LancasterCountyMarine
      @LancasterCountyMarine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pick up a heavy duty security cable, about 9 foot. Wrap the cable around the seat frame and go around your crossbar. This is how I lock my boats up.

    Been eyeballing these two for a while. I kayak camp using a rtm tempo sot. Great kayak, pretty quick even hauling my gear. I think one of these would make a bit nicer camping canoe. I'm in central Georgia, and all we have are lazy rivers near me. Tracking is a big deal. Which of these would make a better camping canoe? A typical weekend paddle is around 40ish miles. I don't want a slug on the water. I would love some advice, never owned a canoe. Really want the open cockpit for gear and comfort.
