Volkswagen Golf MK7 lowering mirror in reverse

- Lowing mirror in reverse in Volkswagen #Golf MK7 car is a #feature that will help you with parking and prevent from damaging your wheels. Each time reverse gear is engage, passengers side mirror will tilt down so you can better see where you are going. When moving forward again, mirror will go back to its original position.
This feature needs to be activated with diagnostic tool like Carista, OBDeleven, VCDS. Below you'll find #coding and adaptation instructions:
52 - Passenger Door → Coding → Long Coding → Byte 4 → Bit 2 → Enable

Is this valid only for the passenger side or it works for the driver side as well?

Is it possible to code so both mirrors lower in reverse? Sometimes I have to park with the kerb on the drivers side and it would be nice to see that kerb easily too. Thanks
Nope. I want that myself, but in the 10+ years this functionality has been available, I’ve never seen a single car manufacturer, nor aftermarket provider, dip both mirrors. It’s always only one side.

It's not very common to have the central locking button on the passenger side (At least on the Golf's that I've seen). Do you know the part Number for that bezel that supports the central lock button?
That's US-spec. I believe that's a requirement on the marker.
Hi I have e golf 2016 when I turn the knob to another position like L or 0 passenger side mirror don't go back to previous position but it go back to deferent one.
Mine too in fact they refused to move at all until ignition turned off then on again. Sometimes hi tec confuses itself. :)

I have this in my E87 and it’s one of my favorite features. Also needs to be coded. Works when the switch is set to drivers door.

In my car it goes back when i reach 12km/h and my parking sensors turn off.
@@mrfixpl thank for replying.. I did research ... if you don’t have memory seats , or memory on your side mirror it will not go back to original position... unfortunately my 2020 VW Atlas don’t have it :-( .....

I believe that you need to have power seats with memory to enable that feature.
I have it. And?
VW makes this feature possible with one of the two ways:
1. Door module
2. Memory seat module.
You would have to use diagnostic interface to check those control units and look for that feature in coding.

If they designed the wheel rims correctly, kerb rash wouldn't be an issue in the first place... Prevention, not cure.

Mine doesn’t work at all iv got the function in control unit => lower while reverse but it doesn’t work and used obd11 and vcdc and still doesn’t work ! And tried planty positions even revers the car for long distance to mybe unit keep the customastion but not chance even tried to reboot the unit by holding power bottom for few minutes ! I got the other functions like fold and heated they work fine ! Its strange and I do believe the mirror unit is genuine! The car is golf7 gtd 2016!🤷♂️ my previous car which was golf 1,6 was working perfect without even enabling the code ! Its very useful function but not worth to take the car to dealer as they will charge massive price even for diagnostic and ...... 😏
Try putting it in reverse and adjust the mirror so it’s lower. Maybe you need to teach it the reverse position first.
mr-fix tried that and literally everything 😑 I went to local vw and they said charged me £80 for diagnosing and then will let me know the problem so I just gave up then 😄

Mine was working then stopped just to realise that inborder to be working youbneed to have the selector on the left mirror(uk) if its on 0 the it wont work.
