  • Josephine Ekiru is a Peace Coordinator and converts poachers into advocates for the local environment and community. She is a true storyteller, and getting to listen to her talk about her experiences was a privilege for us. She tells us about how, at one point, she had guns to her head - she’d been ambushed by a group of poachers who didn’t like that she was trying to stop them from poaching, and she was certain they would kill her. Instead of begging for her life, though, she asked simply to speak and share her passion for animals and the land. She also shares how she is training others to do this work and why women are some of the best candidates to convert poachers.
